INTRODUCTION
Health and safety within the organisation plays very important role. It is the procedure
used by every organisation in order to prevent staff members from any kind of hazardous
environment. According to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, it is the act which is
required to be followed by each and every organisation in order to provide safety and security to
the employees working within the company. It is the most essential and primary piece of
regulation which covers health and safety within the organisations of UK (Almond and Gray,
2017). Therefore, it is the act which is very important for the growth and success of the
company. In the present report NHS is chosen as the base company, which is a health and social
care corporation. It is the company established in the year 1948 with the motive to provide
services to visitors with the funds provided by government through tax payment. It is the report,
divided into various parts which includes numerous affect of health and safety rules and
regulations within the organisation. In addition to this, it has been discussed in this report which
includes various requirements for healthy, safe as well as productive working conditions. Apart
from this, it involves various roles and responsibilities of an employer and employee working
within the organisation in order to maintain safe working environment. At the end, various ways
in which how risk is being managed and assess within the organisation in context of health and
safety.

There is a need of legal requirements of a company in an organisation. In every
organisation the organisations have various problems like deaths, injuries, occupational diseases
and dangerous occurrences and this helps in identifying how and where risks occur in the
workplace. Any kind of accident or incident which takes in a workplace is responsibility of
employer and there should be no such kind of activity that should occur in the workplace. Some
legal rules and regulations are made for employees for making them feel secure and safe in the
workplace (Ashkanasy, Bennett and Martinko, 2016). These are required for health, safety and
security of employees of business. It is important for a company to analyse various health and
safety regulations for ensuring the positive environment at workplace. The various regulations
followed in an NHS hospital are described below-

Health and Safety at work regulations, 1999
Health and safety in a workplace are required in each and every organisation. It is
important for every organisation to understand responsibility of every employer. Employees of
the company nowadays have more rights to fight against any discrimination that occurs with an
employee. There are different responsibilities of employer as well as employees. In context of
NHS hospital all managers and staff are given equal rights to do their work effectively while
treating patients in an appropriate manner (Aziz and et. al., 2015). The management of this
hospital manages and reviews that no danger and hazard can affect staff of this hospital.
Health and Safety at Work act 1974
According to this regulation, employees can protect their rights and rules at workplace.
This regulation is put into place for reducing harm and requiring assessment of all potential risks
and creating action plans if any emergency occurs. This regulations puts duty on employers and
managers for analysing risk that can harm workers and staff of the hospital. The employers of
NHS hospital ensures that health and safety of worker is the most important thing as they are
most essential asset of the organisation. A healthy employee will work more effectively.
Workplace Regulations 1992
According to this Act, different workplaces have to adopt some basic requirements that
will help in doing work in an organisation effectively. The different facilities provided at
workplace to staff and employees are reasonable temperature, room space, lightning, cleanliness,
seating, workstation, etc. the main objective of this regulation is to provide welfare to employees
and staff. The employees can work more accurately if they are getting all basic needs and
requirements.
Reporting of injuries, diseases dangerous occurrences regulations 1995
According to this regulation, various duties of employers, self employed and individuals
in control of work premises for reporting in a certain workplace accidents, dangerous
occurrences and occupational diseases are recorded (Balch, 2015). The individuals and
premises must keep records of the following activities -
work related accidents which cause death
work related accidents that cause certain serious injuries
diagnosed cases of certain industrial diseases
certain dangerous occurrences
