University Project: Understanding the Digital Revolution (ITECH1100)

This project, completed for ITECH1100: Understanding the Digital Revolution, focuses on automating business processes and visualizing the impact of automation using Microsoft Excel. The project involves several tasks: Task 0 sets up the project by calculating employee working hours. Task 1 analyzes order data, including manufacturing costs and utility costs, and provides cost analysis. Task 2 delves into order information, change management, and price consistency, using pivot tables to analyze quote amounts. Task 3 applies formulas to calculate business profit based on size and materials. Task 4 focuses on improving existing business operations by managing stock and providing instructions for stock availability. The assignment highlights the use of Excel for data analysis and business process improvement, demonstrating an understanding of the digital revolution's impact on business operations and the use of data-driven decision-making.

Task 0
This task has considered calculation of the total working hour of each of the
employees such as Abbey, Britney and Carrie. The calculation of the total number of working
hours is based on the weekly working hours, weekly working hours, overtime working hours,
working hours total weekly. The detailed description of the setting up this small clothing
manufacturer is provided in the following diagram.

Task 1
The parameters which was considered in this task are quote of the date, materials of
the business, size, quotation amount and the manufacturing cost of each order in this
business. Thus detailed information about the different types of orders can be understood
from this particular task. The working days count on a weekly basis, working days based on
the hourly basis, calculation of the overtime hours, total working hours, rate per hour and net
income of each of the stakeholders of this business. The monthly utility cost of the business
can also be understood from this task, at the same time the utility cost in a year can also be
understood from this task. The total operating cost of this task can also be determined from

this task. The following diagram will be very much useful to understand the cost of operating
the business.

Task 2
Detailed information of each of the orders of this business can be understood from
this task. The change management procedure according to the trends of this business was
considered in this task. The quotation amount of each staff are different from each other in
this business.
The quotation date along with the materials used for the clothes can be understood
from this order information page. Date wise information can be understood from this page.
The manufacturing cost of the materials can also be understood from this order information
page. Data wise average of the quote amount can also be understood from this order
information page. The average of manufacturing cost for each of the materials can also be
identified from the order information page. The average quote amount day wise can also be

understood from this order information page. Pivot table was used to get the average of the
quote of the Britney and Carrie which is 44% and for Abbey and Carrie is 56%. The
summarization of the database, spreadsheet can be very much useful in this business to
decide the future strategies regarding the selection of the quote amount.

The consistency of the prices can be understood from this task. The size of the
products and the materials used in this business can be understood from the price consistency
page of this business. The materials and sizes of the clothes are set in a separate location and
selection of the materials and size of the product can be very much useful to generate the
profit amount of this business. The quote amount and the manufacturing cost of the products
is considered while calculating the profit of this business.
Task 3
The formula which was considered while calculating the business profit according to
size and materials of each material and size is “=AVERAGEIFS
(F1:F212,B1:B212,I5,C1:C212,I6)”. IF statement was also considered in the calculation of
the profit amount.

Task 4
This task will be very much useful to improve the existing business operations of this
clothing manufacturing business. Material, size and quotation amount of the business remains

the same in this task. But there are other issues which are faced in terms of maintaining stock
of the materials which are very much popular among the clients of the business. The
instructions required in order to maintain the stock and popular can also be understood from
this task.
The availability of the stock has two criteria in terms of the availability of the stock, if
the stock is unavailable but it is one of the popular products then a start instruction is
automatically generally. And if the stock is unavailable and it is not among the popular
category them an automated message will be generated which will instructed the workers not
to proceed with the production of the clothes.
