The essay deals with the raging topic of unemployment in Australia that has left an
impact n thousands. It focuses on the economic issues which has rendered impossible for the
affordability of basic life sustaining things. Unemployment in Australia has long been a crisis
and has impacted the collective well-being of the people. The essay will have four paragraphs
focusing on the role of government in reducing unemployment, solution to unemployment
and its social interventions, scenarios of being unemployed its plausible interventions and the
three pieces of information that I would gather as a social worker before providing
employment to someone.
Topic sentence 1: who is responsible for unemployment? Why?
The government is responsible for addressing the long-term unemployment because it
is the authority of the government to ensure that the people of the country is getting access to
adequate jobs and it is not being merely swept away by immigrants. In Australia, a large
number of immigrants arrive via 457 visa. This has been the cause of huge concern to almost
one third of the Australians. This has been responsible for creating a major job crunch in
Australia. as per statistics the rate of unemployment rate has grown by 730,000 the positions
being primarily filled by 6000,00 migrants (Carvalho, 2015).
Though Australia boasts of a very diverse workforce it as no doubt greatly contributed
to the perennial problem of unemployment. The immigrants bring labor and talent into the
country but also steal a number of jobs from the talent youth of the country. Australian
government has contribute very little to incline the skilled migration program so as to ensure
benefits to the Australians the growing frustrations of the Australians due to failure arranging
for a suitable job for a suitable job has been accentuating year after year (Gregory & Smith,
2016). The lower rate of job creation comparing to the arrival of 775% of highly educated
refugees in Australia has resulted in the birth of long unemployment queues with a large

number of people settling for work for dole (Carvalho, 2015). The population pursuing this
option is composed of aged people, single parents, young people and people with physical
disabilities. Government has also failed to find jobs for all the people who completed work
for the dole therefore resulting in only 11.7% actually possessing a job. This has resulted in
the job seekers losing connection with the labor market which is a utmost necessity for
fetching a job.
Topic Sentence 2: research evidence presented in video clip and its assistance in social
work
A political reporter named James Glenday produced a formal report in collaboration
with Micahel Atkin that inferred about the creation of work for dole as a possible solution to
assist unemployment. Work for dole is a welfare policy in Australia that was designed to
assist the unemployed people in their search for jobs (Crowe & Butterworth, 2016). It
becomes the responsible for the government to provide funding for the purpose of the
unemployed people in the hope of improving the employment rate. It is a sort of sustainable
employment program for the unemployed people in which they benefit the community in a
way or the other. It assists in social work interventions by reducing temporarily the rate of
unemployment and helping the unemployed people develop new skills and talent.
Additionally it fetched worker in the field of community services for instance in community
halls and other community based organization that will provide a number of benefits to the
community (Payne, 2015).

unemployment
In being unemployed for long the Australian youths are repeatedly facing threats to
their physical and mental well-being. The sense of depravity has seeped deep into them and
