INTRODUCTION
Hospitality industry applies to the amalgamation of various businesses such as event
organizing, housing, travel & tourism, transport, etc. It is a multibillion dollar industry market
focused on the mobility of disposable income and leisure time. The industry in the market is
really quickly growing (Grobelna, 2016). The project report is based on a company that is
Radisson Blu. It is a multinational hotel brand owned by Radisson Hotels. The Radisson Blu
brand name, which goes back to the 1960s, was rebranded by Radisson SAS in 2009. The hotels
are clustered in major cities, central airport access points and tourist attractions. The project
report describes a variety of kinds of Hospitality Company and their products and services. There
is a variety of branches of organizational roles and a link to state, regional and foreign
economies. There are many organizational positions in the hospitality industry, coupled with
expertise demands and emerging skills shortages.

TASK 1
P1. Different types of business within the hospitality sector
The hospitality business is a diverse variety of facilities industries, comprising of packing,
food and beverage distribution, event organizing, theme parks and transport. The business also
covers hotels, restaurants and bars. The definition of the various types of business in the
hospitality sector is described in the following terms:
Accommodation- This business includes premium accommodation, campgrounds and plenty of
resorts. It is important as it varies from bedrooms, breakfasts, companies and other lodging
facilities. There are three curial items that individuals choose to take advantage of hospitality
facilities, such as lodging, food and transportation. Now adays, this field is focused on improving
residential housing for their positive experience.
Food and beverage- It is also a key business sector, ranging from high end restaurants and
catering establishments in between. There are several types of business in this sector, such as fast
service establishments, catering and full service restaurants, etc. Such companies include a range
of food options, such as fast food products, catering facilities for weddings and birthday parties,
etc.

Entertainment- This is a key business in the hospitality market. Person requires enjoyment and
amusement while travelling for a better journey (Huang, Qiu and Wan, 2016). In terms of
entertainment, enterprises will provide a range of entertainment facilities, such as sports and
gambling, marinas, cruises, night clubs and bars, etc., which help to build a better triple and
provide consumers with a pleasant experience.
Travel and Tourism- It's a massive market field that has a variety of competitors around the
globe. Think flights, cruise ships, trains and staff leaders for transportation. The essence of this
company is that customers travel from one place to another.
The hospitality industry cannot grow and push forward without the support of travel and tourism.
It is included as a vast field involving planning, creativity and ingenuity at any move. It is formal
and casual flying. Individuals from various areas of the world fly for vacations, school,
employment, entertainment and consumer demand, corporate interaction management for market
growth and industry smooth running.
P2. Examine a range of operational and functional departments
Within a corporate enterprise, many operating divisions render a commitment to the
successful running of the company. Within Radisson Blu. there is also a need for specific
organizational and functional units to run the company and to define them as follows:
Operational department
Front office- It is the most prominent section in the hotel and is often named the reception desk.
It section is responsible for interacting with visitors who come to the hotel and take advantage of
it. It consists of information on visitors, the front office cashier and the registration section. The
employees of this department are responsible for cash and credit management, room booking and
other facilities to the visitor (Liang, Chang, Ko and Lin, 2017).
Housekeeping- It section is responsible for the care of the guest rooms and the cleanliness of all
public areas of the hotel. There will be a clear partnership with the front desk and the
housekeeping so that details regarding the guest rooms can be easily modified. Within Radisson
Blu, the business has excellent housekeeping employees who look after the whole property with
terms of cleanliness, ensuring that the client has no chance to create a request.

Security- It role is responsible for the health and protection of tourists, employees and guests. It
considers assessing equipment, guarding hotel premises, ensuring the safety of employers and
visitors, along with their personal items.
Functional department
Sales & marketing- This division is responsible for generation of new hotel business. They
could be features, sales rooms, conferences and bars. This focuses on advertising and retail
promotion of hotels on the market. Often Radisson Blu wants this division to market its products
and services (Afsar, Shahjehan and Shah, 2018).
Accounting- It is the most important role for all companies to control their fiscal operations. It
consists of cash receipts, financial records and accounting, management of salaries, monitoring
and preparing of internal reports. Radisson Blu has this division to know the actual profits of the
firm and its operating financial procedures.
Human resource department- It is responsible for recruiting, educating, creating and dismissing
workers and even for labour affairs, health and collective bargaining. It has become relevant
because of competition, shortage of labour and legislation. With Radisson Blu, HR Director is
responsible for overseeing all human resource activities.
P3. Discus the contribution of the hospitality industry to local, national and international
economies
The hospitality industry is expanding rapidly, accounting for 10% of world GDP. This is
rising internationally and publishing inventions in a multicultural world. It is built on an
international, national and regional scale. This industry is made up of different subsectors from
which restaurants and bars are the main source of economic growth. This field leads to state,
regional and global economies (Kim, Woo, Uysal and Kwon, 2018). It has been estimated that
700 million of the total tourists have arrived at the global stage. The statistics revealed that there
were 241.5 million maximums and 4.9 per cent cumulative improvements. Hospitality provides
more than 10% employees in the United Kingdom, which is an individual of 2.5 million. Thanks
to McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Burger King has grown sufficiently to make a difference to the
economies of the world. Improvement in the industry is targeted at raising living conditions,
according to the British Hospitality Group, more than 500,000 staff in the UK are active in this
field. Cultural tourism constitutes 7% of world exports and 30% of business exports.

P4. A range of diverse operational roles in the hospital industry
There are many divisions working in a hospitality company, such as Radisson Blu, and there
are various managerial positions in the business enterprise (Kang, Lee and Yoo, 2016). The
definition of the various categories of organizational functions in the respective undertaking is
given as follows:
Roles of Housekeeping- They will test and decide all the cleanliness of the hotel. All
areas of the hotel are placed under this individual for continuous check-up and
determination. Housekeeping will take note of the safe and hygienic atmosphere in order
to draw the interest of a wide range of potential markets and visitors.
Role of division manager- -Responsibility for the care of staff involved in the activity of
the hotel's front regions. Coordinating with various departments and ensuring contact
with them in order to represent visitors efficiently. Manage and ensure responsibility for
budgeting, hiring and buying. Department of Sales Supervision, monthly plans and
accessibility controls.
Roles of Front office or receptionist- They’re renting hotel rooms and managing visitors.
They also communicate with the guest services and hold room records, decide credit and
delivery accounts. Help in providing information about the business; get attention,
surroundings, community, areas of interest. They shall create and carry out financial
transactions and reports.
Role of security- They are recognized as security guards that have a varied position, such
as the protection of staff and visitors. Even take charge of the grounds inside and outside
for safe purposes (Cheng and Chen, 2017).
Role of maintenance- They are responsible for the administration of resources and
programs that sustain core market. They maintain the health of the company's guests and
employees, improve energy conservation and reduce costs. They often preserve the
dignity of buildings by repairs such as floors, roofs, furniture and fixtures. The hospitality
industry is getting more eco-friendly owing to the successful presence of this feature in
terms of maintenance.

P5. Skills needed for roles into the hospitality industry and current skills shortages
It is essential for every people who are holding some businesses and industries to have
proper knowledge and along with efficient skills in order to run business successfully. Therefore,
these sorts of skills are needed for firm so that they can easily implements on their desired
strategies. Thus, firm mostly hire those applicants who have proper need in particular working
area. Herein, hospitality sectors plays crucial role through operating several kind of functions
and operations within every sector of business. There are different types of functions in which
skills mainly required different roles that are:
Multi-tasking skills: Every employee of firm should have multi-tasking skills in order to
make their work effective. In regards with Radisson Blu hospitality industry they mainly needed
to handle numerous employees together through giving them several tasks. Therefore, employees
should have this skill in order to increase entire growth of firm and make firm valuable.
Communication skills: Within the hospitality sector, it is essential for employees to have
this skill. In regards with Radisson Blu it is considered as most important skills for employees by
which they engage in so many activities of firm and make firm profitable for customers through
using better ways of communication. Additionally, these skills needed by every member and
employees of firm in order to develop best verbal or written communication to manage whole
operation of firm.
Problem solving skills: It is one of the best skills which are used by firms in order to
manage their functional activities by employees so that they resolve any problem and increase
benefits for firm. In relation with respective hospitality industry, there are several kinds of
alternatives developed by firm and its employees for those issues that can be happen any time.
Therefore, it helps employees and firms both and increase value of firm.
Language skills: Within the every business there are assorted people who came from
several kind of culture across the globe. Therefore, it is necessary for every employees of
respective firm is to adopt these skills in order to understand mission and vision of industry so
that they can play their role in a proper way and achieve targeted goals and objectives of firm.
Culture awareness: it plays crucial role within every individual’s life as all people belong
to different types of culture across the globe from several background. In relation with respective
organization there are ample numbers of employees who belong to different culture. Therefore, it
