TASK 1
Relevance of mathematical models to a variety of conceptualised engineering examples
Mathematics is one of the main subject that helps in studying the quantities and relation, in
terms of numbers, different patterns and number of symbols. Its fundamental principle is based
on studying properties, measurement and relationship of sets, via numerical or variable analysis.
As it compromises with different subjects like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus,
Statistics & Probability, Analysis and Applied mathematics. In context with engineering
mathematics, it demonstrates the key concepts of physical science, where to understand the
physical system behaviour, mathematical models like set of equations, differentiation and
integration, probability, set theory etc. can be used. Along with this, mathematical models are
also important for designing new engineering systems, to predict the physical behaviour, which
further helps in providing a concise as well as objective description of complex dynamic process
via mathematical equations. Conceptualised engineering examples where mathematical concepts
like dimensional analysis, arithmetic and geometric progressions can be applied are – Setting AC
and DC generators, prediction of electrical behaviour within series and parallel combination of
resistance etc. For this purpose, functions like exponential, circular and hyberbolic, logarithmic
etc. can be used.
