particular hotel an individual should have the all rounder personality so that the individual
can take care about each and every department. (Bell, C., 2015). As a Hotel Supervisor, the
skills which have in the individual according to the current requirement is that the individual

communication skills. The individual have the quality of taking the decision and transferring
the decision to senior authority. The individual should have the pleasing personality, should

qualities an individual should have in their personality while working in the Hotel Royal
Café.
There are some skills and competencies which need to be critically evaluated for purpose of
finding out the employer’s expectations while working in the Hotel Royal Cafe. As a Hotel
Supervisor, if the individual does not have self motivation, determination and confidence then
it becomes difficult to execute the work of each and every department at the particular time
period. (KOPOCHYNSKA, Y., 2020). Because Hotel Supervisor profile is itself is a very
challenging profile where individual have to do multi-tasking and the individual can’t take
break easily while doing all these kinds of activities. If the individual does not have the
ability to divide the time in a proper manner then it becomes difficult to give attention to each
and every department. Also it becomes challenging for finding out the loop holes and also
about where attention needs to be given for the proper period of time. As a Hotel Supervisor
if the individual does not have the ability to pay attention towards the meticulous detailing
then it becomes difficult for the hotel to maintain its standards. The individual needs to take
care about each and every thing in a careful manner otherwise the customers complaints have
been increased on the daily basis. (Brown Jr, C. K., 2019).As a hotel supervisor the
individual should be strong enough on their mathematical part so that the individual have on

As a Hotel Supervisor if the individual have the interest in the financial system then it will
help them to analyse that how many customers are taking interest in their hotel and how
much they have fund which they can invest in the improvement of the infrastructure and
growth of the hotel. If the individual does not have interest in the financial system then the in
how much they need for the promotion of hotel through different methods. As a Hotel
Supervisor, if the individual does not have the quality to work under pressure and with
respect to deadlines then it becomes difficult to retain and satisfy their customers in a positive
manner. So these are the skills and competencies which can be expected from the employer
side while working in the Hotel Royal Café.
There are certain skills and approaches are required for the personal and professional growth
in terms of their learning part. These theories include are : Behaviourist approach to learning,
social learning theory, cognitive approach to learning and humanistic approach to learning.
Under behaviourist approach to learning, where learners respond to their stimuli in their
environment. (Anderson-Gough, and et.al., 2016). It is the theory which gives an individual
behaves is based on their interaction with the environment. It suggests that behaviours are
influenced by the external forces rather than the internal forces. Popular element of
behaviourism is the positive reinforcement. Next theory is about the cognitive approach to
learning, This theory understands that the learners has been affected by the internal and
external elements. It suggests that internal thoughts and external factors are an important for
cognitive process. Next theory is about the humanistic approach to learning. This theory is
closely related to the constructivism. It is all about the self actualisation. Everyone functions
under the hierarchy of needs. Self-actualisation is at the top of the hierarchy of needs. It’s the
best level where all needs have been satisfied and they are the best possible version of
themselves. And the last theory is about the social learning theory which is a development of
the early behaviourism theory. By observing others, people can learn directly and indirectly.
(Barile, B. B., 2016). There are three stages into this sequence. First is that attention is
focused using a model. Second is that through the observation of model’s behaviour, learning
takes place. And the third sequence is about the subject analysis and codes the learning.
These are the approaches and learning theories which has been used for the personal and
professional development. Sometimes there is requirement in the hotel industry to treat the
employees and some particular profile people in a technical manner so that the efficacy and
the main problem can be resolved in a realistic manner.

The most appropriate approach towards the personal and professional development is
Behaviouristic approach towards learning. Under this type of learning the most of the work
has been done with respect to the behaviour of an individual which has been influenced by
the external factors. (Strevens, C. and Field, R. eds., 2019).And by the practice of this
approach or learning, the behaviour of an individual comes into the control manner which is
very essential in the service sector industry.
The importance of continuous professional development and the associated professional skills
in the Hotel Royal Café plays a very important role. Due to continuous development of the
staff members of their hotel their personality gets groom on a daily basis and the confidence
level also increased on a larger scale. Their continuous development also increases the
chances of opening new opportunities of their career. Their career prospects has also
developed in the positive manner. The staff members get the chance of learning new abilities,
skills and faces different kinds of challenges which are important for the development in
terms of professional and personal way. Due to continuous professional development they
also raises their standards in terms of professional manner. The skills that they have learnt
while working in the real world will give extra edge to their career as well as their personality
also. Due to continuous professional development they have reduced their knowledge gap
and also increases the chances of becoming the leader of that particular hotel. Because
according to the current period of time, organisation prefer to recruit within the hotel rather
than from outside world. They always consider as their first priority from within the
organisation. (da Silva Teodosio, S. S. C. and Padilha, M. I., 2018). Due to continuous
professional development it gives the assurance regarding the remaining competent in the
profession. It is an ongoing process which has no end point because achieving the
perfectionism is like considering as the infinite situation. It is continuous throughout the
career line. Continuous professional development is like it is a career-long obligation for
practicing professionals.
As a Hotel Supervisor if the individual have good communication skills then it has the ability
to treat their guests in a perfect manner. Having good communication skills ensures that the
individual can work easily and effectively within the team and with the team member. If the
individual is good in communicating the information then there is no break into the execution
of work from each and every department.

An individual have the good listening and understanding power then they have the ability to
do the work in multi-task way because they can handle the things in a simultaneous manner.
As a Hotel Supervisor the individual has the self motivation then they do not need any
dependence on anyone. If the individual has determination and disciplined nature then the
individual takes their roles and responsibilities in a very positive manner. Because they never
give any chance to dissatisfy their customers. If the individual has the ability to take decision-
power in a responsible manner then there will be less chances that the decisions get go in the
wrong direction. As a Hotel Supervisor he or she has the capability to transfer the decisions
to the senior authorities then it will be good for the hotel because after observing the every
aspect the individual has transferred the decisions to senior and management authorities in
case of emergency or in a regular situation. Because individual should have the awareness
that in which time period is the requirement to consult about the decisions which he or she
going to take for the hotel is good or not. This is considered as the smart move by the Hotel
Supervisor. As a Hotel Supervisor, the individual should be present all the time which shows
the sincerity about their work role and also have the sense of humour about understanding
their profile in a positive manner. (de Menezes Lara, and et.al., 2020). For this purpose, it is
required that the individual should be active and energetic in nature so that they can handle
all the challenges and situations while come at the time of working in the hotel. As a Hotel
Supervisor an individual should have the quality to give credits to others because this is the
kind of profile where without the support of each and every member of the hotel it becomes
difficult to give justice to this type of profile. As a Hotel Supervisor there should be lots of
qualities in an individual for doing this type of job but some of them are very important
which needs to be considered in a positive manner.
To meet the requirements of the employer it is important to have some qualities otherwise it
becomes difficult to exist in the Hotel Royal Café. As a Hotel Supervisor if the individual
does not have patience level then it becomes difficult to handle each and every type of
situation. (Schneider, and et.al., 2016). This is a multi-tasking job where challenges and
problems have come simultaneously so the individual have to remain calm while dealing with
such kind of situations. If the individual does not have proactive nature then it becomes to
difficult to find out the loop holes and without the initiative of the individual it becomes
challenging that to uplift the hotel over the period of time.
8
Document Page
Because with the period of time, lots of changes and development has been happened which
becomes the current requirement of the market so hotel has to be uplifted into that particular
manner. So that large number of customers can attract towards them and stay in the hotel for
the longer period of time. All this is possible with the efforts of the Hotel Supervisor because
this the only profile where the individual has take care and evaluate the each and every
department. (Gaziel, H. and Mendelevitch, I., 2015). As a Hotel Supervisor the individual
should have the pleasing personality otherwise it becomes difficult to deal with every kind of
customers. If the individual meet out all the requirements of the employer and do not give
any chance to the employer to come again and again in their notice in the negative manner
then there will be good career for the individual in the Hotel Royal Café. Because its also the
responsibility that they maintain their standards of their hotel and prestige in the international
market.
CONCLUSION
Professional identity is very important in the business world. This has been developed
through the long process and with longer time period of practice. It needs lots of efforts,
planning and hard work to finally come at a sustain level at the organisational level.
Professional identity is a process which is a kind of continuous process which needs to be
develop by the support of patience, knowledge, confidence level, skills and abilities which
gives a final shape into the result-oriented manner. There are some requirements which an
employer always there from their recruited employee that they follow their particular
condition and situation so that they can contribute towards in achieving the objectives of the
organisation. (Gao, and et.al., 2018). While working in the service industry it is required that
certain skills and expertise should be there in the individual so that they can justify with their
job role otherwise it becomes difficult to sustain in the hotel. These skills and competencies
are the parameter which makes the individual more strong and develops their personality into
