Introduction
Nowadays in the highly competitive business environment, every company give a tough fight to
each other. For maintaining long-term sustainability and growth it is highly important for a
manager to create effective training and development plan to enhance current skills and
knowledge of employees so that they can perform in the workplace to attain set goal and
objectives. This project report is based on case study for which Tesco is taken that is largest
retailer company in the UK. In this report Tesco sale large range of products and service such as
clothing, furniture, electronics, books, furniture, software and others. This report is based on
given case study of a training event in which training and development manager of Tesco
organise professional development event for a group of 40 employees to improve their skills. In
the organisation there is large auditorium which includes seat of 60 and also outdoor center can
accommodate various activities. The training event will be organised for two days at the nearby
residential center where several coaching, workshops and team building activities would be
created by the manager.

There are so many different communication style and format which is used by training and
development manager to design and deliver an effective training event for employees. With the
help of training, employees will improve their existing skill and knowledge which help in
increasing performance and profitability of the organisation. The major aim of training and
development manager behind the design the training event like create a better workplace, build
new skills, improve performance, new techniques for old skills, etc. It is necessary for the
manager to design training and development program according to the required improvement
area of employees (Aziz, et. al., 2013). There are several communications style through which
manager can deliver and design information of training event to the target audience.
Emails: With the help of email manager can design and deliver training event to the target
audience. By sending email to employees a manager can easily remind them of training event
which is helpful for them. Email is an effective style of providing training across multiple places
at the same time. It is self-directing learning which helps employees to increase their skills and
knowledge.
Letters: training manager develop training events for increasing productivity as well as the
profitability of the organisation. The letter is written a form of communication in which manager
informs the employees about the training event which is going to be held in the organisation for
improving their skills and knowledge (Bachynsky, et. al., 2013). In the letter, manager provides
all information related to the training event and location.

In order to be successful in training event manager need proper planning to control and manage
everything. It is a challengeable task for a manager to organise a training event in the proper way
by using time management skill that helps to improve employee’s knowledge and ability. It is
essential for a manager to use time management skill in planning process while prioritizing
activities and also interact with people before setting objectives of the training event. There are
so many aspects which must be considered by the manager to ensure successful event are as
under:
Project management software: With the help of this software manager can do proper planning,
allocation of resource, scheduling and change management for the training event that assists in
achieving better outcomes. Project management software is beneficial for the manager because it
manages budgeting, control cost, documentation and quality management through which they
can easily manage different workshops, seminars and activities for employees (Block and House,
2012). Project management software helps in managing proper scheduling of different activities
in allocated time.
It is highly important for a manager to include seminars, team building activities, breakout
sessions and various ranges of activities which provide so many benefits to employees as well
organisation. With the help of help of breakout sessions, employees take participation in stage
presentation which improves their communication skills whereas team building activities
improve the workplace projects and seminars provide huge knowledge to employees related to
business activities. Thus, it is necessary for the manager to include all the sessions planning of a
training event. The manager needs suitable time management skill for organizing all these
activities in two day training event for achieving a better result.
