INTRODUCTION
There are various ethical theories are occur which help in delivering services among
people. As people have high number of consideration which is needed to be consider by health
professionals so that they can take action which can benefit with in their services. There are
some ethical legislation and codes of practices also occur which provide rights of human in their
care and services (Leminen, 2016). These are used by health and social care organisation from
which health professionals can provide appropriate care and services to people. In this report,
ethical theories are described in context of given case which provide support to individuals. In
addition to this, the importance of ethical legislation and codes of practices also describe which
provide support and needs to service users.
TASK 2
ETHICAL THEORIES
P3 Describe the three ethical theories and their importance in using for support to needs of
individuals by health professionals ?
Consequentialism:- this theory is a form of ethic norms which state that consequences
are the one's which is based upon right and wrong judgement about any conduct.
Deontology:- this theory depends on the morality of action that is depend on the
availability of rules which express right and wrong of any action.
Principlism:- this is an biomedical ethics which is use in structure of other ethical
principles such as beneficence, nonmaleficence, justice and autonomy.
Importance of these theories by health professionals to support needs of individual
Importance of Consequentialism:- this theory is important in health care professionals as
it provides moral goods which affect decision making of health in order to achieve great number.
This theory provides feasibility for health care professionals so that they can produce practical
judgements in needs of individual. The example of this theory is explain by John Stuart Mill and
Jeremy Bentham of utilitarianism (Price, 2016). They explain that actions are should develop on
the basis of consequences. As the consequences are based on happiness that created from the
action of consequences. According to both of them, experiencing happiness leads to experiencing
lack of pain and pleasure. The impact of using consequentialism in health and social care is
occur from various examples. It includes when a health care professionals make decision

according to consequences that is offensive, even it is good among individual. It can be used by
health professionals so that they can build positive relationship with other individuals. They can
consider the consequences of some action by judging or considering the norms of individual.
Importance of Deontology:- it is important in health and social care as it provides actions
that are depends on action that is morally good for individual. This theory does not consider
consequences. It also focuses on rules that provides action such as rules of rights, ethics and
justice that can develop set of outcome (Knapp, 2018). This can be used by health professionals
in health and social care as they can judge action of individuals from which they can provide
ethics of services to them. According to Kant, the action of human can be analyse by their will.
Importance of Principlism:- the importance of this theory is that it provides ethics in
health and social care from which the health professionals can use use ethical principles
individual. This can identify problems and provides solution that is needed to make decision.
This theory can used as it provides less harm to individual who are associated with services. This
prevents from rights and ethics of people so that they can provide appropriate resources to
individual.
M3 Describe use of ethical theories with Brenda and Maria?
Importance of using theories with Brenda
It is important to use this theories as Brenda has mental ill health problem along with
severe asthma. She forgets to take her medicine due to her ill problems. As she have past bad
experiences which need to consider at time of delivering services to her. She is abuse by male in
her past so she does not want any male specialist in her treatments. The health professionals can
consider these theories while treating her as she wants all her treatments to be assured by her and
all records should be confidential so that it can retain securely (Rothman, 2018). The theory of
Principlism can be used by health professionals so that they can build positive relationship with
Brenda. As she have some concern about her services that need to be consider by health
professionals so that they can deliver proper care and services to her. The patient wants to make
confidentiality of her treatment that should consider by health professionals. By considering
theories they can analyse the morality of action that help them in analysing between right and
wrong.
