INTRODUCTION
Managing the successful business project refers to as the aspect through which systematic
evaluation is done in order to achieve the business objectives. Project management can be
defined as the planning, controlling and monitoring the aspects of the business so that the goals
of the project is attained on time and within the specified cost, performance and quality. Talent
management is the process which involves attracting and retaining the high quality employees
into the organisation, focusing on developing the skills of the workforce and continuously
motivating the staff in order to improve their performance (Robles, 2018). The main aim of this
process is to create a workforce which is motivated to stay with the company for a longer period
of time. The organisation chosen for this report is Asda Stores Ltd, a supermarket retailer
headquartered in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. It deals in groceries, financial service and general
merchandise. This report shall cover the aims and objectives of the talent management, project
management plan and a work breakdown structure and Gantt chart. Further it will cover small
scale research for meeting aims and objectives of t project, interpretation of research and
recommendations.
TASK 1
Project aims and objectives.
Talent management is the constant process which involves retaining the existing high
quality workforce and attracting the potential employees into the organisation. It also involves
developing their knowledge and skills, continuously motivating the staff to improve their
performance so that their talent is secured within the organisation (Susmanschi and Ruse, 2018).
A talent management strategy is a plan which is undertaken to optimise the employee's
performance. In order to sustain in the competitive market, it is very important to have a capable
staff which can work for the success of the companies (Al-Kasasbeh, Abudayyeh and Liu, 2020).
Be it small or large organisation, each company plans to retain their quality staff within the
organisation so that it can battle the competition. As a HR Consultant, a research is being hired
by the company so that importance,of talent management is identified. The primary motive of
conducting the research is to solve the issue of talent management and plan a comprehensive
method to retain the high quality staff which has appropriate skill and knowledge. Another
important intention of undergoing this research is to examine the importance of the talent

management in an organisation. For better execution of this report, the aims and objectives are
discussed below in context to the business-
Research Aim:
To examine the importance of talent management strategies to attract and sustain staff
members at workplace. A study on ASDA.
Research Objectives:
To examine the benefits of talent management within an organisation.
To determine the different talent management strategies used by ASDA company to
attract and sustain staff members.
To examine the issues faced by company related to talent management.
Research Questions:
What are the benefits of talent management within an organisation?
What are different talent management strategies used by ASDA company to attract and
sustain staff members?
Which issues are faced by company related to talent management?
Project management plan.
A project management plan is the document which defines how the project is to be
carried out. It basically outline the goals, scope, budget, deliverables and timeline of the project
so that a track is kept of the project progress (Nam and et. al., 2016). The main purpose of the
project management plan is that it helps in communicating the details of the project and also
describe the process through which project can be undertaken. The different components of
project management plan for the researcher is discussed below-
Cost- It is the fundamentally considered general sum which will be utilised by the
researcher in order to carry on its task (Dickerson III and et. al., 2016). For directing the viable
research, the researcher is required with a cost which looks like a large budget for the entire
examination. For this research project, the researcher would require the cost of 200 Pounds for
executing the research relating to the business concern.
Scope- This research has an extensive scope as it gives support to the organisation for
creating powerful strategies which will help in successfully managing the talent within the
organisation. Generally, this research of talent management may function as a piece of
hierarchical work which would help the company in enhancing the efficiency of its workers so

that they can deliver productive outcome from their inputs. Further, this research project will
help the company in analysing the issue of talent management in the company how its strategies
can help in attracting and retaining the quality workforce.
Time- For successfully completing the research and accomplishing the aims of the
project, the research will take 3 months time period in order to evaluate and examine the issue in
the organisation to achieve the aims of the research and how these talent management strategies
can help in successfully managing the employees.
Quality- To successfully undertake the research, the researcher is worried for leading the
research in such a way that it does not face any issues or problems in achieving the aims of the
research. The researcher shall gather the quality data from the primary and secondary tool which
includes questionnaire and for secondary data tool, books and journals shall be used. By the
researcher to gather quality data.
Communication- It is one of the important factor which involves communicating the
data from one person to another in a legitimate way (Kusters, 2016). The main stress for the
researcher is to deliver the outcome of the research in an effective way. Communication helps in
building the coordination between the employees so that growth and success is ensured while
undergoing the research. The researcher shall communicate with the respondent with the help of
channels which includes emails, verbal communication, telephonic conversations and many
other.
Risk- As businesses involves certain risk, likewise, research also involves various risk
which includes security of personal data, completion of task within time frame and many other
(Van Rijn, 2016). The research is concerned with the confidentiality management, security of the
personal data and the completion of task on time.
Resources- In order to complete the research, it is important to have the requisite
resource. In order to successful achieve the aims and objectives of this research project, the
research shall require various resources which includes employees, assets of the company and
many other.
A work breakdown structure and a Gantt Chart.
Work breakdown structure-
It is the deliverable oriented hierarchical decomposition of a work which is to be
executed in order to achieve the project objectives and aim by the project team. It is a

cornerstone of the effective project planning, monitoring, executing, controlling and reporting.
Under this structure, the project is divided into smaller components which is accomplished in
hierarchical manner so that the project is completed in an effective manner (Bigorra Puente,
2017). It helps in organising the work of the team into the manageable section. In order to
successful conduct the research, the researcher will use this structure so that it becomes easy in
identifying the issues and importance of the research project.
Gantt Chart
It is referred to as the useful tool in terms of graphs which show the activities performed
against the time. It also represent the project in visual presentation where the task are broken and
displayed on the chart so that it can become easy in understanding and interpreting. It is an
important tool of management which drills down the activities of the project which are required
to be done in the time period fixed for each. It helps in planning and scheduling a project so that
the management is updated with the progress of the project and also helps in arranging the
additional resource and dependencies which are required between the task (Young, 2016). For
conducting this research project, this chart will help the researcher in understanding and
interpreting the task so that successful research is done.
