Topic : “What issues and challenges may arise out of equality and diversity in the workplace and
what measures could be taken to resolve them?” A study on Unilever Plc.
INTRODUCTION
To manage a business organisation in a successful manner there is a requirement of
several skills and capabilities to conduct an independent research in order to accomplish the
specific objectives and aims. The working environment of an organisation shows the level of
employees productivity as well as performance. Equality and diversity become essential for
every kind of workplace because of the globalisation as well as demographic nature of
workplace. Equality plays important role as it helps in motivating employees as well as maintain
positive culture but diversity comes along with the people as all may belongs to different cultures
and background that creates challenges for an organisation. These issues required to be solved
within specified time period in order to that the company formulate objectives and aims to
achieve them and develop positive workplace environment. This research is based on the
Unilever which is a British Dutch transnational consumer goods company. The research topic is
related to the identifying the challenges as well as issues that are faced by company due to the
equality and diversity at workplace. For achieving the aims and objectives of research qualitative
and quantitative methods are used to resolve the challenges and will be recommended better
way. This report includes the aims, objectives, project management plan, data collection methods
as well as WBS and Gantt chart for giving time-frames.
TASK 1
P1) Aims and objectives of the organisation
Overview of the organisation : Unilever Plc is a multinational company that offers
consumers goods which includes foods and beverages, personal care products, cleaning agents
and beauty products. The company one of the most valuable company of UK which has its
operation in 190 countries. Unilever is a dual listed company which consist of Unilever Plc that
is based in London while the other one is Unilever N.V. that is based in Rotterdam.
Project management: Project management is the application of various methodologies,
knowledge, skills with the aim to achieve the goals of the organisation. It has been classified into
various stages such as initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing of the work. The
project management has various advantages for the company which will help them to achieve

their desired results. Further it helps the company to identify the scope of the research and also it
helps in budget formulation (Subramanyam, 2018).
Aims of the Research: The aim of the research is “to identify various issues and challenges
faced by the company due to equality and diversity at the workplace.”
Objectives of the company: The objectives of the research which they have to focus upon are
given below:
To develop an understanding about the concept of equality and diversity at the
workplace.
To identify various issues and challenges which can be faced by the company due to
workplace diversity and equality.
To determine the level to which it can affect the culture of the organisation.
To identify various measures and solutions to the considered by the Unilever while
meeting up with the challenges and the issues related to equality and diversity.
Questions: The questions which has to be answered by the research are :
What challenges and issues can Unilever face due to equality and diversity?
What are the impact of such challenges and the issues on the culture of the Unilever?
What are the policies and procedure in Unilever to meet up with such issues and the
challenges?
What strategies can be adapted by the Unilever to resolves the issues related to the
equality and the diversity at the workplace?
P2) Project management plan
Project management plan: It defined as a process of various phases which involves the
initiation, designing, implementing as well as performing and controlling along with the closing
phase of project activities. It considered as most significant tool for insuring a specific plan as
well as directions towards the attainment of strategic objectives and targets. This plan is basically
used by Unilever company to develop an action plan that are formulated after forecasting the risk
and managed project activities in a well organised manner. It includes several aspects such as
cost, quality, resources, time, scope, communication and so on (Viswanathan, 2016).
Within the context of Unilever's project manager and investigator the project
management plan are considered as follows:

Cost The company Unilever adopts many research activities such as assets
development, changes implementation, training programmes, introducing
latest technologies, research and development department, resources
requirements and so on. In order to fulfil all activities a company has to
require £40000. Whereas, investigator has to bear £7000 to accomplish the
research objective in order to collect relevant and reliable information and
create a team to conduct research appropriately by using different
investigation sources.
Quality This investigation assists in gathering relevant as well as reliable
understanding towards the employees performance for accomplishing the
effectiveness and efficiency of a business organisation. This will increase the
human resource practices of Unilever that helps in developing skills as well as
capabilities of workers that directly influences the company's performance.
Whereas, researcher take benefits of this research project while collecting
clear and measurable data which are depends on the research methods like
qualitative and quantitative. This will helps to exercise in future research in
order to increase their research quality (Subramanyam, 2018).
Risk The company Unilever suffers from the huge risk if the standard plan does not
match with the actual implementation as they expect. This will lead in the
high cost and wastage of time, efforts as well as resources which will directly
effect the company's financial performance and future growth as well as
success. Moreover, researcher are liable to collect the reliable data while they
conduct research there is risks arises related to the collecting inappropriate
information as well as statistics that are totally depends on the selected sample
size. It will lead in requirements of more time, efforts, money as well as
resources.
Resources For implementing changes in Unilever's human resource practices in order to
satisfy or meet the global needs of their customers. The company requires
physical, human, technological as well as many other resources for betterment
