P6 Recommendations Theequalityanddiversityatworkplacenotonlyprovidejobsatisfactiontothe employees but also helps the companies in attracting customers from across the globe due to diverse workforce. Sainsbury's companyhascustomersacross the globe so a diversified workforce will help in retaining the customers across the world. Gender pay gap has been a major issue in terms of equality which not affects the employees but also the organisation because the company will be unable to retain an employee with great talent if there is inequality in workforce (Kauria, 2020). When a woman worker feels that there is no scope for advancement in the organisation the company tends to lose a hard working and talented employees. More females in leadership results in better decision-making and rise in the productivity level of sainsbury's. The following recommendations are provided to Sainsbury's for eliminating the gender pay gaps in the organisation- The HR management must ensure equal pay for equal work in the organisation to attract more talent and ideas so that organisational goals can be achieved in efficient manner. This equal pay technique will motivate the employee to work hard and justify this technique to the employers so that they ensure equal pay to all. As the government has already complied with the equal pay and enacted a strict law for gender pay gap, The Legal department of sainsbury's must comply with all laws of Equal pay to prohibit the legal liabilities against the organisation. The HRM should promote more female leaders in the company so that there can be attractive opinions in the organisation for fulfilling the needs of the customers. A female is a multitasker and can handle any crisis situation emphatically. Sainsbury's have customers from across the globe which need employees from diversified culture to break the language barrier for customers so that no potential customer is under looked due to language blockade (Helo and Shamsuzzoha, 2020). So an organisation with equal pay will attract more potential employees who can handle diversified customers. Discriminatorytreatmentlowersthemoraleoftheemployeeswhichaffectsthe organisational productivity as the workforce lacks in confidence to deliver the best 15
outcome for the company so sainsbury's must comply with Equality Act to ensure fair and equal treatment to all irrespective of their gender. The HRM must make equality policies for the organisation so that every leader or employer must comply with it so that fruitful ideas can be flooded in the company for achieving organisational goals more effectively. The HRM must take all necessary steps to eliminate any kind of indirect discrimination like rule to be 'clean cut' may be discriminatory for the one who has long hairs for religious purpose. The sainsbury's must organise 'Diversity Training Programs' to train the managers for managing diversity because it can be challenging for employers to understand workforce diversity. All these recommendations can help the sainsbury's company to attract more efficient employees in the organisation which will result in more productivity. A diversified workforce is a profitable workforce because it helps in attracting the customers from all over the world because there is no language barrier for customers to deal with diversified organisation. LO4 P7 Reflection The research for the project “gender pay gap” was one of a trial for me. The experience was quite good because it helped me to understand the topic more deeply. At the time of starting the research, there were many obstacles as to from where to start. Then I initially began with secondary data available on the internet and other sources and then went to to primary research where I got to know about the reality behind the gender pay gap and how people are affected with this pay gap after having requisite talent. Then I went on to sort the articles by most recent date and from there I got my first result for the research. I learned a lot during this research process because I got to know how to find relevant articles when there are too many to look for andlearned a fact that best articles are the one which are peer reviewed because they are legitimate as well as precise. The biggest hurdle while researching was to find the people who can openly share their stories regarding pay gaps which would have affected my research outcome but the end result was good because I got to know the reality behind this problem after 16
many struggle. This research has helped me in enhancing my knowledge and contributed to my professional growth. CONCLUSION As by enforcing equality and diversity practice within workplace entity can provide equal and fair treatment to employees of different race, culture and more. It has been evaluated that gender pay gap is a major issue which is affecting employees in different ways. It not only affects their performance but also decrease their productivity level. To overcome these issues in effective manner it is important for an entity to take advantage of strategies, policies and other measures in order to maximise satisfaction level among workers. It will aid organisation to maximise performance, productivity and growth of both entity and employees at great extent. 17
