INTRODUCTION
The hospitality sector is getting more popularity because of their valuable services
provided to lot of local as well as national guest. It will assist in generating huge of income and
offer lot of new career growth opportunity to people (Barlow, Roehrich and Wright, 2013). This
part of this report is intended to provide specific information regarding the role of housekeeping
with the other key departments. Further analysis highlights the role of communication and
security within the hotel.

Housekeeping department is one of the key divisions in a hotel which is liable for
cleanliness, maintenance, hygienic upkeep of rooms and other important areas. The Hilton hotel
tends to give maximum focus on the creating a pleasant environment at their entire hotel. The
housekeeping department is continuously working day and night to clean guest rooms, bathroom
with a high standards measure (Common, Flynn and Mellon, 2016). It will assist them to learned
and manage time more effectively as well as they get fair wages from their guest after getting
satisfied from their hard work. However, they are loyal and attentive to listen clear instructions
that are asked by the management.

Forecasting linen stock is a simple method that provides specific information regarding
the products such as bed sheets, pillowcases, bath towels and hand towels etc. It play an
important role in fulfilling all the basic needs that are required during the guest stay. However, it

uncertainty during the time of contingency (Berger and et.al., 2012). Some other guest supplies
include bed, chairs, wardrobe, locker facilities, dressing table, wastebaskets, clock, space for

Interrelationship between housekeeping and other key departments
There are various departments that work day and night for providing valuable services to
their guest. They all are equally important for the Hilton hotel because entire performance and
success is depend upon them.
Housekeeping co-ordinate with maintenance department: The primary role of
housekeeping departments is to work jointly to maintain the hotel or keeping the furniture
in good working order for the safety of their guest.
Coordination with front office: It has been seen that rooms are primary concern to the
front office as well as housekeeping. Thus, it is key to have regular exchange of
information on room status. The front office used to provide lists of expected arrivals and
departures for the day in advance to the housekeeping team (Dei Mensah and Mensah,
2013).
Security department: The coordination is basically related with the prevention of fire
and theft. There are plenty of securities issues on the floor that is specifically crucial and
housekeeper cooperate by resolving these issues.
Food and beverage: The relationship between housekeeping with this department is

Importance of communication between housekeeping and facilities departments
Communication skills are primary aspects within any hospitality industry as it can
increase a guest experience by listening them properly. It would lead to a guest loyalty, enhance
business as well as increase hotel reputation. Work balance is a key component in
communication and collaboration between housekeeping and facilities department. In the recent
times, plenty of hotels tend to use digital sources like, telephone and emails to communicate their
problems or positive responses that they gain from their housekeeping departments (Tussyadiah,
2015). At the time guest check-out, the front office used to notify housekeeping about checking
the condition of rooms on top priority. Thus, they need to maintain strong relationship so that
chances of mistakes can be avoided. Further, they are responsible to look out continuously
regarding the demands that are order by their guest and fulfil with joint efforts.
Scheduling maintenance or repair work to reduce disruption to guests
The objective of maintenance is to increase the value of assets those are useful for
lifetime and reduce cost to the company. In case, it is performed too quickly, it will create loss to
the services that would results in unplanned slow-down. The amount of unexpected downtime
and repair could be up to 6 times then the estimated. It has been seen that schedule maintenance
is play valuable role in hotel. It ensure that all facilities as well as equipments are working in
correct manner and operating smoothly so as to reduce the chances of risk. Thus, it is essential to
inspect and repair different energy system such as cooling and heating system, lighting and
kitchen materials on regular basis. Further, it is important to repair floor, roofs & doors and
installs latest products so that guest could maximum satisfaction from the hotel (Silys, 2017).
Importance of security
It happens to be the first and foremost important role of the hotel staffs to provide proper
security to their guest. It will assist in protecting staffs, guests and other physical resources such
as appliances, personal material of hotel property and gardens. Generally, in the present era most
of the hotels like Hilton are using high security cameras for the surveillance of their staff’s
behaviour as well as guest regular activity. It will help them to take necessary action against the
person who found doing any unethical work. However, the primary focus is to reduce the crime,
natural disasters and from any human errors. The hotel safety covers different aspects such as
guest room lock, public areas security as well as other equipments that are found in the hotel
premises (Cascio, 2015).

The role of hotel maintenance departments is to make sure that all the services as well as
materials are working in good condition so as to overcome the impact of interruption to operate
the hotels. During their scheduled work with the accommodation services employee may
determine some deficiencies in the hotel services such as electric plugs, leaking pipes and
improper functioning of air-condition. However, these issues should immediately report to the
maintained department over telephone (Tosun, Dedeoğlu and Fyall, 2015). Therefore, it is
important to have proper coordination between the other support team to resolve these types of
problems before the guest would check-in.

From the above project report, it has been concluded that the hospitality industry is
gaining maximum popularity because of their facilities provided to the guest. However, it has
been seen that role of each departments is equally important in terms of increasing the goodwill
of the hotels. Therefore, it is necessary to take decision regarding customer safety, quality of
services and other valuable facilities that can assist to the gain gust attention for the long-term
sustainability.
