EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report has discussed about the establishment of university and what are some factors that
affect the establishment in regard with social, environmental and economical perspective it has
also shown the recommendation for overcoming the challenges that may come in establishment
of the university.
INTRODUCTION
University is an institution of higher studies which provides a degree in particular subject and in
which the research of academics is done. One university have different types of departments,
which are teaching different subjects and providing graduate degrees to student, university is a
non profit business providing educational qualifications that are necessary. Establishment of a
university in a city can be seen as the development gun for the whole city economy, it can boost
the economic requirement, increase the population and expand the area of city which will create
more offers to unemployed youth. This study will discuss about the three perspective by which it
can affect the area where it is opening. Environmental perspective this state that how did the new
university impact on environment, social perspective is the state that shows how did the
university will impact on society.
Impacts from an environmental perspective
Opportunities for sustainable building and design
Building an university requires many types of different resources like cement, energy, water etc,
they increase waste and release air pollution. minimising the impact on environment, every
builder is choosing sustainable business design which also helps them in reducing operational
cost, carbon footprints and it will also increase the capacity to recover from building difficulties.
Energy use mainly involves air conditioning, water pumping, heating, ventilation, lighting and
HR support ( Mathisen, L.2021), In UK every building mostly uses resources, increase waste and
make pollution, they are becoming more technological efficient and less human efficient in some
last years, The EPA have said that about 30% of energies are wasted in building procedure, This
shows that by using sustainable design the builders can save the operating costs. University using
sustainable design wants to decrease the wastage of necessary resources, it will decrease the air
pollution and it will build a safe environment for the people who are living or going to live in
that area(Oyugi, J.L., 2021.). University wants to set an example for their students and for that

they are using green building which will not harm the environment and will use only natural
resources, these buildings are designed to reduce the impact of establishing environment on
natural environment and human health by -
 efficient use of water, energy and different resources
 reducing pollution and waste
The university is using six principals of sustainable building design as an set of example for
architecture students, these principles are as follows-
 Best use of site potential(optimize)
 Best use of energy(optimize)
 Conservation and protecting water
 Best use of building space and material(optimize)
 Increasing the quality of indoor environmental
 Best use of operational and maintenance practice (optimize)
Environmental impact of construction work
Establishing university in the city can be the back bone for economic growth or development of
that city we can accept it , but we should never ignore that how much it's construction will harm
the living public. If someone see the national report of pollution then they will know that the
30% of pollution is caused by the construction sites and when it was divided in categories
everyone got to know that construction contributes over 23% of pollution of air , 40% of
pollution of drinking water and 50% of wastes in landfill(Mizushima, T., 2021.). The
construction of university will harshly affect the biodiversity too. As the university is building in
the area where the large number of different species lives, and while starting construction the
thing came in the mind is the loud voice from machines and work in site during the night time
will produce a huge impacts on animals mainly bats and birds by making their natural cycle of
day disturbed. However it is a small thing to worry on but the construction work will affect the
diversity for long time , some of these affects are as follows-
 water pollution
 air pollution
 isolation of animals will make them angry
 separation of wild species from their groups
