1. Jackson, Denise. 2014. “Testing a model of undergraduate competence in employability
skills and its implications for stakeholders.” Journal of Education and Work 27 (2): 220-
242. DOI: 10.1080/13639080.2012.718750
The author of this article has conducted a research on the employability skills using a
model and has found that employability skills, in particular, are not the sole factor that responds
to the employability solution. According to the author, graduate skills or competence is one of
the factors which enhance the chances of getting a job. However, there are other various factors
which are also accountable for the graduate employability. Some of such factors may include but
are not limited to like disciplinary knowledge, labor market conditions and macroeconomic
factors, job mobility and learning transfer. It makes things clear that this forms an initial yet
valuable stage which supports the employability of graduates at the global level.
The various factors that have been identified by the author have a bigger impact on the
graduate employability. Macroeconomic factors do have a significant impact on the labor market
condition. In case of an economic downturn, companies might face the challenge of recession. In
such situations, there may be the shortage of projects and hence, many employees will have to
sacrifice their position. Firms do adopt this strategy to reduce its cost of production to the
maximum possibilities to stay less affected by the economic recession1.

2UNIVERSITY GRADUATES AND GLOBALIZATION
In this article, the author has picked up a very good topic which is focused on the various
employability skills. The author has tried to draw the attention towards the importance of several
kinds of employability skills. According to the author, the various employability skills are
valuable but such skills on its own may not help to get the desired job. Notably, an employee
with a particular skill in a specific expertise has to face the obstacles which can be in the form of
a changed labor market. There are preferences given to a specific field of expertise and students
are being graduated on that particular skill only. However, the existing labor market demands a
more dimension graduate which is well versed with the various kinds of different skills.
Employers in the contemporary age prefer graduates who have been graduated on multi-skills. In
the light of the thoughts that have been presented by the author, it can be said that the present day
graduates need to focus on multi-level skills. Graduate with a set of different skills will have a
high chance of getting the job.
3. El Mansour, Bassou, and Jason C. Dean. 2016. "Employability skills as perceived by
employers and university faculty in the fields of human resource development (HRD) for
entry-level graduate jobs." Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies 4, no. 01:
39. DOI: 10.4236/jhrss.2016.41005
The author has put its focus on identifying the role of the human resource development
(HRD) in grooming the graduates as per the requirements of the labor market. The human
resource department has been able to train graduates on the relevant skills. They do it with the
help of curriculum which they provide to the respective universities. Then after, the human
resource department in the respective universities takes the full advantage of the provided
curriculum. They in the light of the provided curriculum find this much easier to train graduates
on relevant sills which could provide them the employability solution.
