U.S war against Islamic States 2
Introduction
The United States has suffered fewer terrorist attacks as opposed to many observers
expectation, even as the threat of Islamic states looms. The relative safety of the U.S is due to the
United States externalization of its counterterrorism operation: U.S. partners in the Middle East
on the Islamic states disrupt its fighters and host drones, operatives, air assets and the bomb
Islamic in coordination with U.S forces (Byman, Daniel). The aggressive action by the Middle
East has reduced the strength of Islamic states, hence helped in preventing attacks against the
U.S. homeland. Despite the U.S being spared the Middle East bears the brunt of the
aggressiveness of Islamic states even outside of the war zones that are obvious. The Islamic
states still threaten the U.S despite the low number of its attacks.
The present effort by the partners’ alliance of the United States is inadequate to attain the
eternal defeat of the Islamic state. The fruitful supposition of the operation will entail
importantly increased effort by the U.S. across two fronts. Russia and United States have a
common significant interest in offering protection to the civilians from violence in Syria,
defeating the Islamic states and preventing the spread of chaos to other countries. However, the
united states have a strong belief that Assad is the main root of the hitches while on the other
hand, Russia trust that having Assad in power is vital for their way out. After Assad withdrawal
from authority as a prerequisite for cooperation, the Islamic state becomes more entrenched, the
refugees in full swing flooded into the Europe and killings were continuous. The United States
and Russia Corporation have provided their actors in Syria civil war with an important aid from
the army. The anticipation to amend the facts on the ground to attain its administrative goals
without their core value being compromised (York, Carnegie). The United States has started

giving soldierly training, airstrikes and armaments to Syria, an advancement from the provision
of moral support and charitable assistance. On the other hand, Russia has continually provided
advanced armaments and weapons to Assad and even advanced to conducting the airstrike
against the terrorist in Syria parts where the United States insurgents are strongest (York,
Carnegie).
The United States has conducted in Iraq over 13200 airstrikes since the start of an operation
that began in 2014 against Islamic states that had self-proclaimed. Islamic states now control
only 2.2 % from 40 % in 2017.the announcement made by united states that it would be sending
two hundred troops to Iraq in March 2017, supplementary to the six thousands of troops that are
already there.in the year 2014 during June, the Islamic states advanced into Iraq from Syria and
reign over the province of Anbar. President Obama in August 2014 authorized targeted airstrikes
against militants of an Islamic state in Syria and Iraq. A coalition was formed by the United
States to counter the Islamic state (Milton, Daniel, and Muhammad -al Ubaydi). The coalition
that was international comprises of sixty countries and above. The United States led coalition
remains unclear on who will provide governance and security in Raqqa after it has been
reclaimed from Islamic states. The country was liberated by the Syrian democratic Arabs in
cooperation with United States. Fighters remain loyal to Islamic states in the eastern part of
Syria. Such areas proves to be difficult place to dislodge fighters .it may be difficult for United
states to keep its allies interested after the caliphate has collapsed (Clarke, Colin P).the Islamic
states has fighter that ranges from 6000-10000 (Clarke, Colin P).

Airstrikes dropped are among explosive that are terrifying products of modern warfare. The
destruction associated with it comes from nowhere and it comprises of falling buildings and
fires. Continues sending of airstrikes in Islamic states only hasten the warfare as none of the
party would like to be regarded as looser in the battle. Troops that can dismiss airstrikes from the
ground have an advantage in combat, only if they can confront the enemy to the ground and
force them to an open place (Scruton, Roger).Contrary to wishes of president Donald Trump who
uses a phrase of “fight fire with fire”, restricting certain people from having access in to the
united states, or depend on the subjection of torture, does not provide any solution to the serious
matter at hand. Based on the previous attacks, it’s clear that sacrificial of civil liberties does very
little to determine the threat of Islamic extremism and put little effort in providing safety of the
people. Clear set of objectives for combating threat posters to national security is desperately
needed. The Congress has made its responsibility to handle discussions that are substantive on
how to deal with a threat of Islamic terrorism. According to President Obama stated during his
union address “if this Congress is serious about winning this war, and wants to send a message to
our troops and the world, authorize the use of military force against ISIL”. That request now
makes sense now than ever before. Congress has the obligation of fulfilling its constitutional
mandate and take a vote to authorize employment force against the Islamic states.
The United States and its corporation should consider changing their strategy as Islamic states
shift its strategy. The North Atlantic treaty organization has to invoke its self-defense clause so
the full weight of the alliance is brought to bear against Islamic states (Feinstein, Dianne).during
the NATO summit, it was agreed upon by all members to form a wide coalition to fight against
terrorism. According to secretary general of the alliance, “being in the coalition does not mean
that NATO will engage in combat.” ”NATO role would not involve combat, instead expending it

use of surveillance planes, stepping training programmers and creating a new body in Brussels to
coordinate anti-terror intelligence and planning.” with NATO forming coalition to fight against
terrorism (Papers, STRATPOL) .It’s clear that terrorism is a tactic that requires clear strategy to
curb it.
Pentagon officials have come to a conclusion that more trainers, advisers, and commandos
from the coalition and the United States will have to be sent to Syria and Iraq as the Islamic
isolation campaign is intensified (Cooper, Michael). Military officials reported to the national
security teams that they have made an important progress in the fight against Islamic states. They
mentioned that to deal with a long-term blow, there is a need for additional forces to work with
the fighters from the opposition in the two countries in the ground.
It is evident enough that airstrikes alone are not sufficient to end the ongoing terrorist attacks
posed by the Islamic States. The nearest point of comparison to bring a total destruction on the
Islamic states is an approximation of $900 billion. While comparing the total cost of destroying
the Islamic States, it’s important to consider. First the major operation cost in Iraq brought about
failure and it was the condition that allowed the formation of ISIS. The cost is likely to higher in
the United States. The Pentagon budget is set to implement a year spending cut on the efforts to
reduce defense spending. This part of infamous budget cuts across all departments of
government, which started after the failure of the Congress to devise an alternative plan to curb
the national deficit (Schulberg, Jessica).

Conclusion
United States military has greatly assisted government forces in the war against Islamic states.
The most suitable fighter on the ground against Islamic states in the Kurds, who are majorly
Muslims. The United States government requires good strategy in order to defeat the Islamic
states. There is great need of the Kurds on United States side. This will have an economic impact
the war has on country of United States since the military from United States will not be sent to
do the fighting job.
