Introduction
Individual is a part of society. An individual can only grow when he/she is associated
with the society because the society provides an individual the necessary platform where the
individual can develop his/her emotions, thinking and way of reacting. So, we cannot treat an
individual as a different entity from the society and to understand an individual we need level
of analysis.
Using levels of analysis to reflect on my experiences of studying & learning
Level of analysis is basically a frame work to just understand how a human being
behaves in the process of observing, analysing and presenting information. It basically tells
us the overall mental state of a human being through which they show their behaviour. Level
of analysis has mainly three levels (Frisby & Stone, 2010). First is biological level, this level
explains the contribution of an individual physical body towards the mind and behaviour of
the individual. Second is psychological level and this level deals with how an individual
gathers information, interprets it and then processes it in the form of their behaviour. Third is
environmental/social level, this level deals with the impact of environment, group or society
in which an individual lives on the behaviour of the individual (Passer & Smith, 2004). As,
we know that human being is also known as social animal which means it has to lives in a
society or community because of which there is always an exchange of behaviour from both
ends: individual as well as from society in which individual lives. So, levels of analysis help
in understanding the person clearly from all aspect it may be biological or psychological or
social level. As said by Robinson it is always better to prepare our self in advance for any
circumstances because this kind of preparation will be helpful in increasing our chance of
sustainability. In similar way levels of analysis helps us to understand the future impact of the
particular individual on the society (Robinson, 2018).
Every individual is different, so as i. As i have spent good amount of time in my
college and have gone through various situation in which i was able to understand, interpret
and learned a lot of thing. By going through all these experience i am able to understand that i
have strong control over my emotions as compared to other students. As i was not aware of
levels of analysis, so many time i was thinking why they are not able to control their
emotions which is actually a part of biological formation. This biological formation possesses
qualities like handle stress, emotions as well as mental presence (Vanlange, Kruglanski &
Higgins, 2011). I have observed many times that i am able to perceive things exactly as
compared to other students. Earlier I was thing that this is because of my interest in studied
and learning that i gained from them by repeatedly studying but i was wrong, this happens
because of psychological formation which is a part of level of analysis. In this level an
individual is able to develop qualities like innovative thinking, memorising thing for long
time along with problem solving skills (Corr & Matthews, 2009). During my college time i
have experienced that i have develop liking towards those subjects which are more related to
the Psychology as compared to other subjects in my course. First i thought that it is because
of my interest in this subject but i was shocked that it is not because of my interest only. I
have developed such interest because of the environment in which i am studying, which

means that it is because of the group with which i am associated and i was also surprised that
my learning develops much quicker in this group as compared to other group because i have
tried to work with other group on some project and it took me more time to complete the
project as compared to my main group and even difficulty level of that project was not high
enough (Gifford, 2017).
Conclusion
During my study on level of analysis many of my myths got cleared that all my
capability, my hobbies and my perception skill is not only part of my interest. It is also
because of my biological formation, my psychological and the environment in which i spend
time by becoming part of group. So, it is clear now that my way of study, remembering
studied thing for long time and the mode of my learning is all because of this level of
analysis. If we really want to understand some-ones behaviour then level of analysis is one of
the best processes.
