difference in both these values.

H. The first reason due to which, Jamaica as a country is not included in top 10 medals
country is that the country is not large as compared to others. This is particularly because
of the reason that when the country is small in capacity then it is not much included in top
list (Grebitus and Davis, 2019). In addition to this, second reason for not including the

Jamaica in top 10 is that total population is less in comparison to other countries even
though Jamaica is having good athlete.

For ranking of the data, it is essential to undertake the use of ranking function in excel. This
function results in ranking the data series on the basis of the either ascending or descending order
(Mendez-Carbajo, Jefferson and Stierholz, 2019). The steps involve the first step of
identification of list that needs to be ranked.
Further after that next step involves application of function of rank that is =RANK (number, ref,
[Order])
When all the relevant data is filled then, enter key is pressed and rank is provided.
B. For displaying the countries who have 800 or more medals the use of function ‘IF’ will
be used. This is used when some condition need to be checked which is =IF (logical test,
[value if true], [value if false]). With the help of this formula it was analysed that are four
countries which are having more than 800 medals. This involves United States, Soviet
Union, Great Britain and Germany.

C. For the only gold medal information, the use of bar graph is being used as it clearly
outlines contribution of every country in gold medal.

In excel, there are various function which are used and in case there are same formula being
applicable to many of the different cells. Hence, in this case, the formula is being replicated in all
the cells (Miller, 2018). This will be done by putting the formula in single cell and dragging it to
other cells as well. For instance, in the present case of calculation of rank, the formula is applied
in one cell and then it is dragged in other cell as well.

For the calculation of overall total medal awarded the use excel formula of Sum will be used that
is =SUM (number1, number 2….)

A. For calculating the total number of medals earned the use of Sum formula will be used.
The total number of medals earned by Germany and Great Britain are as follows-
B. The European countries involves the countries France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and
Sweden. So the average number of silver medals for European country use of
=AVERAGE function will be used.

C. There are two countries who are having less than 20 games involvement and total of gold
medal earned is 227 for China and 440 for Soviet Union.
D. In order to search the database relating to Italy and total corresponding medals earned
formula of VLOOKUP will be used.

A. In order to calculate the median for the data function will be used that is =MEDIAN
(range).
B. The mean number of medals will be calculated with help of =AVERAGE (range)

C. The standard deviation is useful to within the present data set as it will outline the
dispersion among the variables being present. The standard deviation is the number
which is assistive in telling that how the measurement within a group is spread from the

average or mean value. Thus, with help of above table it is clear that standard deviation is
585.74 which is high means number are more spread out.
