How can social media analytics aid local (urban) decision making during a global pandemic?
You must submit a completed copy of this form via the link on the UXH400-1 Blackboard site by no
later than 23:59 on Monday of Week 7. Please see the UXH400-1 Blackboard site for information on
extensions.
This assessment will be marked by your Project Supervisor using a Criterion Referenced
Assessment (CRA). You can find a copy of the CRA for this assessment on the UXH400-1
Blackboard site.
As part of this assessment, you will:
1. Identify your research question, and describe your project aims and objectives;
2. Organise and represent key concepts in a graphic manner;
3. Translate key concepts into a search strategy and search for relevant literature;
4. Identify authoritative, reputable and reliable information sources on your research topic; and
5. Develop a summary analysis of fifteen (15) key references.
On completion of this assessment you will have designed and implemented an information
research strategy that will allow you to discover evidence-based scholarly, trade and
professional literature that will underpin your research project.
Resources to support your completion of this assessment are available on the UXH400-1
Blackboard site. You can ask questions about this assessment in the online consultation sessions
with the Unit Coordinator – see the UXH400-1 Blackboard site for dates and times.
You should meet with your Project Supervisor to gain feedback on your progress on this
assessment, and to request guidance where required. You can also get help from QUT Librarians
via Online Help (Chat or email) or consultation (by appointment).
1. Project DelineationIdentify your Research Question and describe your Project Aims and Objectives
Your Research Question guides the design of your project and links it to previous work. In
formulating your Research Question, you should state your topic and show the purpose of your
study in a manner that is interesting, focused, clear and understandable to you and to others.
You will need to discuss your Research Question with your Project Supervisor – you can find
resources to help you prepare for that discussion on the UXH400-1 Blackboard site.
Enter your Research Question in the box below.

The research questions can be developed as follows:
What is the social media website that are currently covering the Global pandemic?
What are the other references that the urban audience are currently using for receiving news about the Global
pandemic?
What are the different set of articles being published to influence the decision making of the urban audience?
How does the social media Analytics influencing the decision making of the urban audience during a global pandemic?
For the purposes of this unit, Project Aims are what you hope to achieve - broad statements of
desired outcomes, or the general intentions of the research, which 'paint a picture' of your
research project. Project Objectives are the actions required to achieve your Project Aims - the

steps you are going to take to answer your research questions or a specific list of tasks needed
to accomplish the goals of the project. Again – you will need to discuss your Project Aims and
Objectives with your Project Supervisor. You can find resources to help you with framing your
Project Aims and Objectives on the UXH400-1 Blackboard site.

Describe your Project Aims and Objectives below.

This project’s aim is to find out how the outbreak of different news through social media and other online activities
and Information sharing during a global pandemic effects the lives of the urban audience utilising these sources for
gathering information and acting upon accordingly for taking a decision. This aims to find out the relevant idea about
the objectives that needs to be e set for step by step procedure conduction during the research.
Following would be the objectives of the research listed below:
To find out what the different social media sources are from where the Digital information has been
transmitted since 2019 November till date.
To find out what keywords does the urban audience are using to find out information about the Global
pandemic.
To find out how this information are differentiated between these people.
To find out the impact it has on the emotions, actions and symptoms of people.
To find out what actions and precautions the people take with this information during a global pandemic.
To find out how the social media analytics are helping the urban audience to take a proper decision for
making a change during a global pandemic.
2. Concept MappingDescribe the aims and objectives of your research project, and organise and represent key
concepts in a graphic manner
Concept Maps are diagrams that show relationships among concepts - graphical tools that
organise knowledge. To construct a Concept Map:
Write concepts central to your research objective in the centre of the “page”
Surround these concepts with related ideas or themes, and then
Continue to map more specific concepts describing the kinds of information you will need
to investigate in order to fulfil your objective
You can find resources on Concept Maps, sample Concept Maps from prior UXH400-1 students,
and links to software that you can use to facilitate your mapping on the UXH400-1 Blackboard
site.
If you struggle to develop the “branches” of your Concept Map, consider re-visiting it iteratively
as you complete the remaining portions of this form. You will likely find that as you locate and
read references related to your topic, you will be increasing able to populate and “grow” your
Concept Map.
Insert an image of your Concept Map on the following page – make sure that text is legible.

3. Search StatementsTranslate key concepts into a search strategy and search for relevant literature
Development of a search statement will aid in locating literature relevant to your project. Use of
Boolean operators (e.g., AND, OR, NOT) and enclosure of search components in parentheses will
aid in construction of effective and efficient search strategies. Try statements including inverted
commas and without. You can find resources to support your search on the UXH400-1
Blackboard site.
The first step is to develop a set of key concepts you want to search for using a research
database or an online resource like GoogleScholar.

Now list any synonyms (words with the same or similar meaning) that may also retrieve relevant
information. Also include any spelling variations (e.g., colour/colour, utilisation/utilization) and
industry specific terms or acronyms.
