Questions 1-4 (25 marks – 500 word equivalent)
Question 1a. From the background information provided above relating to
immunisation, develop a researchable question. Type the question below:
In healthy children below six years of age, does the MMR booster vaccine
improve the effectiveness of the vaccine?
Question 1b: Identify the elements of (words relating to) PICO or PICo in the
research question that you have formulated (delete irrelevant table)
P Healthy children under the age
of 6 years
I MMR Booster vaccination
C Absence of MMR vaccination
O Effectiveness of the
Question 2a. What type of research methodology do you think should be used
to answer the research question that you have formulated?
Mixed methods
Question 2b. Justify why this methodology was chosen to answer the question
(
Approx 75 words -
reference/s used to support your response should be written
below your answer and are not included in the word count).
Mixed methods, including both qualitative and quantitative studies, would be
the most adequate to answer the question under review. This is because
qualitative studies provide descriptive responses with issues surrounding the
inefficacy of the vaccine. However, quantitative studies are also preferable as
they provide statistical evidence on the efficiency of the MMR vaccine in
children. Thus, a mixture of both types of studies gives a complete sense of
the question under review.

Question 3a. List 3 places/sources of information that can be used to obtain
reliable evidence to answer the research question that you have formulated:

Question 3b. Using one of the resources listed above, provide the details of a
specific resource/publication that is an example of the best available evidence to
assist you in answering your research question. Complete the table below:
Provide the full
reference/title for the
resource/publication

Question 3c. Explain why the information source chosen is an example of best
available evidence for answering the research question that you have
formulated. Refer to the Levels of Evidence and Hierarchy of Evidence tables in
Topic 2 (
Approx 75 words - reference/s used to support your response should be
written below your answer and are not included in the word count).
The evidence mentioned above is the most suitable resource to answer the
question under focus as it is a systematic review. Systematic reviews are
positioned highest in the hierarchy of evidence as to the most reliable source
of evidence (Clarke
et al. 2014). This method used in this study takes
observational data from five pediatric hospital settings, data from period
reviews of Tenth Revision, International Statistical Classification of Diseases
and Related Health Problems and Australian Modification were collected,
demographic and clinical data from caregiver interviews and medical records
were also collected. Thus, this makes the result of the study more reliable and
generalizable.

and the evidence hierarchy.
