A value-based care system is defined as a health care model that differs from traditional
fee-for-service (Scott & Eminger, 2016). It provides quality care instead of quantity care. The
value-based approach compensates for the overall wellness of the patient. The method is
significant as it helps to pay the caregivers based on the quality they deliver to the patient. The
health professionals also getting rewarded for improving their health conditions reduce the
effects of the chronic disease in an evidence-based manner. The value-based health care system
conveys some benefits like it lowers costs and better outcomes. It can provide higher patient
satisfaction rates and better care efficiencies. It also reduces risk and healthcare spending and
delivers better overall health (Zhao et al., 2015). Therefore, society becomes improved as a result
of lowering healthcare expenses. This paper focuses on the purpose of improving health care
system in USA and difference between fee-for-service and value-based program along with this
how I interpret the power between physicians and nurses in this health care system and the
impact of care.
There are two methods of a value-based system that can enhance the overall wellness of
the patients. This system lowers the cost of service and also modifies the service according to the
patient's needs, still providing a similar consequence. It also improves the outcome of healthiness
of individuals without increasing the expenses of treatment procedure (Gentry & Badrinath,
2017). Value-based treatment accounts for efficient, proactive, and proactive care. It generates a
more integrated practice to handle people's healthiness instead of curing illness and disease. The
system also offers the patient power and information and reduces the prevalence of chronic
health conditions such as blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, or diabetes. This care based
procedure inspires a team-oriented approach to patient care.

With the help of this value-based treatment, medical care is not isolated from others. It
means specialty, primary, and acute care are incorporated so that health care professionals work
as an integrated team to convey the best-harmonized outcome. For example, a cure procedure
evolves the involvement of mental health providers, pharmacologists, general practitioners,
nurses, specialists, and more. Each of them can share the incentives coming from the patient and
consider it a positive consequence. This care system delivers coordinated, comprehensive care,
along with sharing the results of patient data. Since this approach is based on the outcome, the
shared information can reduce the dismissals in care as well as prevent unnecessary treatment
expenses. The prevention-based care denotes the less spending of money and time while treating
chronic diseases. This engages the health practitioners to find out new methodologies to deliver
comprehensive care to the patient.
Consequently, it confers more satisfaction to the patient and enhances the result of the
treatment (Chee et al., 2016). Since the value-based curing process facilitates prevention-based
practice, the patient does not require sudden medical services such as emergency admission, lab
testing, and imaging. This, in turn, will decrease the health-related expenditure and promote
health-related quality of life. Traditionally, the US health care procedure has a dependence on
fee-for-service, and recompenses are supported to each delivered treatment without consideration
of patient outcomes or health expenses. Therefore, the prevention-based cure procedure may
improve the health system of the USA.
In working in a health care system, I can differentiate the healthcare providers working
between value-based systems and the fee-for-service system. I evidenced that in fee-for-service,
the hospitals, medical practices, and health practitioners are getting rewarded according to the
delivery number of healthcare services. On the other hand, I experienced that reimbursement has

resulted from the quality of service, not the quantity of service like fee-for-service. I observe that
in the traditional health care system, which is fee-for-service, the model of service is very
confusing for many patients as they undergo the practice alone. The patients have to decide their
care plan in this system by determining when to go from primary caregivers to an expert.
Following this event, I detect that there is very little communication between the specialist
doctors and primary health care. This results in the patients going through the diagnosis from the
starting point. I think this incident raised the healthcare cost higher and makes the treatment
4system. I recognize that lack of technology prevents the proper access of the patient, and
unsatisfactory incentives direct poor health system despite the high expenditure of the care
process. I experience a terrible incident regarding this situation. I saw this system converting into
a business policy for some physicians as they were more involved in collecting money compared
to delivering proper care. By experiencing this condition, for me, this system has more
concentration on providing a quantity of care rather than quality.
On the other hand, I mark the value-based approach as more comprehensive care as it
involves not only delivering the incentives to the health professionals the best treatment but also
it supports the practitioner by rewarding them. I also recommend this practice-based treatment as
it focuses on coordinated care to maintain the well-being of the whole community (NEJM
Catalyst, 2020). In comparison with the traditional system, I also feel that this system has the
potential to reduce the care cost as healthcare experts communicate with the patient more
effectively. I have seen that they also carefully examine the patient health data and take the
responsibility of the patient as a networked team (Machluf, et al., 2017). For this reason, I can
sense this system will firmly ensure the patient's recovery within a short time.

In my healthcare system, I have considered the shared power between physicians and
nurses in a positive way. Being connected with the nursing profession, I experience that if some
power is given to the nurses, they positively regard this power. I saw that this positive sensation
empowers the overall health system. Besides, I would like to mention that it gradually enhances
the health care policy in different ways. I notice that it enforces the medical obligation, improves
the service delivery, implementation of person-centered care (Sepasi et al., 2016). I also observe
that it helps to connect the nurses to communicate with the patient, to understand their values and
demands, and thus to improve the quality of care along with professional superiority. Although,
in some cases, I noticed the physicians consider the collaboration negatively as they had a
predominant role in providing treatment to the patient, the decision-making situation.
I notice that the collaborative approach of the physician-nurse can significantly enhance
health care practice. I would say that when the physician-nurse performs the treatment care
jointly, it increases the efficacy of the procedure along with improves the patient outcome. In this
manner, I think this will lower the health care expenses, maintain the safety of the patient, and
increase job satisfaction among them. By performing this teamwork, I observed that any kind of
medical or diagnosis errors and unfortunate consequences of health could be avoided (Elsous,
Radwan & Mohsen, 2017). This, in turn, I feel that it enhances the quality of the entire
healthcare practice (Siedlecki & Hixon, 2015).
This paper concluded that a value-based care system possesses unique characteristics and
benefits of overall care procedure. There are specific differences between the value-based system
and the traditional care system. This decreases healthcare costs compared to conventional fee-
for-service costs. Along with this, the evidence based practice provides quality care rather than
quantity and delivers comprehensive and coordinated care compared to fee-for-services. The

next consideration deals with the collaborative approach of physician-nurse in delivering quality
care. It also decreases the risk of emergency admission and prevents from committing errors and
poor outcomes of the health system.
