Introduction
Emergency department of a hospital is considered as an important department that
provides treatment to the patients that are suffering from emergency issues and needs urgent
treatment. System thinking tools can implemented for bettering the processing of the treatment
management in the emergency department. System archetypes are the tool that is chosen in this
section. System archetypes are the tools that will be providing a better understanding of the issue
that is present and help in bettering of the situation. This report discusses about the background
of the entire scenario of the existing value stream map. Identification of system archetypes that
impedes the functional process of the emergency treatment process is stated in this report. Proper
discussion regarding the functional process of the value stream map on which the functional
process of the emergency department. A proper recommendation regarding the processing of the
new value stream map that will help in reducing the time that will be required for treatment oin
the emergency department of the hospital.
Background
The value stream map that is used in the current emergency process has been causing
delay in the processing of the treatment processing in the emergency treatment. Due to this
excess delay in the processing of the emergency treatment department the patients have been
complaining against this excess time delay. This excess time delay have been affecting the
treatment process and hence the need of designing of a new value stream map was required. This
includes the fact that there will be implementation of the system thinking tools, namely the
system archetypes. This usage of the system archetypes integrated with digital technology will be
benefitting the aspect that the time that will be required will be half of the waiting time that is
required in the system.

As per the definition it can be stated that the processing of the System Archetypes the
model can be diverged in several subheading. This diversion in subheading ensures the fact that
proper understanding of the treatment process can bettered as proper evaluation can be made
with the help of the system archetypes. System archetypes that find their importance in the
processing of the treatment processing. Usage of system archetype, namely the Limit to growth,
tragedy of commons and eroding goals.
As per the processing of the Limit to growth system archetype the main concern that is
present incudes that the performance is made as per the balancing of the loop. This balancing of
the loop has in which the entire business processing is being made incurs the aspect that proper
management of the data processing will be made. This ensures that a balance is created in
between the steps that are taken in the commencement of the project. This limits the growth of
the project in which the archetype is implemented (Sunk et al, 2017). Another issue that is
present in this system archetype is that as per the limit to growth archetype a guideline is set.
With the help of the set guideline the main aspect that is taken into consideration is that the
process is to be completed with the help of the guidelines and no other steps can be taken apart
from the set of guidelines. This ensures the fact that innovation in the processing of the
functional process gets restricted. In this case the major aspect that the data transaction process is
to be condemned as per the guidelines that are provided. Hence following the guidelines in the
emergency department, the time taken to complete the treatment process increases.

decrease. In this case the main concern that is present includes the fact that proper management
of the emergency treatment process is not made as the nurses are overloaded with tasks regarding
the data circulation process. Hence this reduces the efficiency in the output that is received
during the treatment process.
As per the eroding of goal archetype the main concern that is present includes the fact
that processing of there is a divergence in the goal that is set by the business authority. This
divergence from the goal is considered to be a negative aspect, this reduces the accuracy in the
predicting of the output. This also affects the functional process of the business management. In
this case the main issue that is present is that the goal of treating the patients in urgent basis in

of goal. This eroding of goal insists the fact that the patients need to wait for long time before
getting themselves treated by the doctors.
Analysis of the Current State Value Stream Map based on System Archetypes
As per the current value stream map that is used includes the fact that the management of
the treatment process was aligned as per the guidelines that are needed to be followed despite the
commencing of the emergency situation. This ensures the fact that proper management of the
data commencement is performed as per the steps that are to be followed that includes nurses
getting overburdened. As per the guidelines the initial step that is taken includes the patients
getting registered in the hospital. During the registration process the main concern that is taken

into consideration is that the insurance policy that is present in the system along with the nature
of injury that he is suffering from is documented. This documented day is sent to the nurse who
will be attending the patient (Heravi & Firoozi 2017). This is one of the main reason that
processing of the data management will be performed as per the data that will be circulated by
the nurses. This is the main reason that the delay is caused in the functional process of the
treatment of the emergency department. After completion of the data storage and sending the
same to the nurses the main task that is performed by the nurses includes that patients are
allocated with the ER room that are free. Nurse visits the patient and provides them with an
initial treatment. After waiting for a certain time the doctor examines the patient after getting the
data from the nurses. After the data are received, the doctors examines the patient and again the
patient waits as the doctor provides them with the treatment. After the doctor completes the
treatment process the patient again waits for the departure instruction that will be provided by the
nurses, this is one of the major reason that the nurses are burdened with most of the tasks that are
related to the data transaction. After completion of the treatment process the main aspect that is
taken into consideration is that the insurance company fetches the data from the health record.
This has been a main concern that time spent is much higher than the needed time due to the over
burdening of the single entity.
Recommendation of the new State Value Stream Map
As the main issue that is taken into consideration in the processing of the previous value
stream map is over burdening of a single entity the time that was taken for commencing of the
treatment process was getting higher. Due to this reason the system thinking tool that is used in
developing of the new value stream map is shifting of burden system of burden archetype. As per
the terminology of the system archetype shifting of burden, the entire work process needs to be

divided. This dividing of the work among the resources that are present indicates the fact that
efficiency of the data management process is performed in a better manner. Hence for shifting of
burden from the nurses, introduction of the cloud system will be made. After the implementation
of the cloud, the main advantage that will be enjoyed includes the fact that proper management
of the data storage and transaction can be made (Gunduz & Fahmi Naser 2017). This transaction
of the data includes the fact that the time that will be required in the data circulation process will
get diminished as each and every entity will be having an access to the data that are stored in the
cloud system. This also ensures the fact that the nurses will be relieved form the data circulation
process and the entities will get the data as soon as the patient registers himself. This inclusion of
the cloud system will provides a better structure in treatment process.

From the above picture it can be stated that the initial process starts with the patient
registering themselves. After completing the registering process, the data that are received are
stored in the cloud system. After the data getting stored in the data set of the cloud are circulated
among the entities (King & King 2015). During the circulation of the data, it gains the data
regarding the ER room that is free this helps in saving a waiting time of the patients. With the
help of the cloud data storage, the nurses and the doctors already have the data and hence the
nurses start their testing process. After performing the testing process the doctor arrives takes
update from the nurse and hence starts treatment. After the wait testing process is created and
hence again the patient needs to wait (Yuvamitra, Lee & Dong 2017). During the
commencement of this process, the insurance company stays updated regarding the data and
hence again time is saved. This overlapping of the process has been acting in a better manner an
increasing the efficiency of the output.
Consequences of the new State Value Stream Map
The consequences that will be a major concern in this case. There will be both positive
and negative consequences due to the implementation of the cloud system.
The main advantage that will be enjoyed due to the implementation of the cloud system is
that the data that will be stored will be having a network system and huge amount of data can be
stored (Lee & Snyder 2017).
Another advantage that is present includes the fact that the data that are stored can be
stored for a long time as back up of the data can be made. With the creation of account in the
cloud system gaining access to the data can be accessed from the cloud system from multiple
accounts. This ensures that overlapping of the data will be performed (Chowdhury at al 2015).
This overlapping of phases will help in faster completion of the treatment process.

also ensures the fact that the patients will be receiving better treatment and hence proper
management of the data system will be performed and hence the newly designed value stream
map will get better. With the help of the value stream map that is implemented as processing of
the value stream map will be accepted.
