It can be argued that environmental degradation is considered to be an escalating problem
nowadays. There are a number of factors that are posed a great threat to the environmental
stability. In this regards, the vehicle emission is considered to be a recent threat to the ecological
balances. The vehicle manufacturing companies are now trying to exploit the lack of effective
policies that can maintain the environmental sustainability. The giant vehicle manufacturer
companies are more interested in maximising their profit rather than ventilate concern about the
environmental degradation that are caused by the emission of CO2 from the vehicles (Bachmann,
Ehrlich and Ruzic 2018). In this regards, this discussion is going to emphasis two different case
studies, one illustrates the Volkswagen emission scandal where as the other article is dealing
with the increasing nature of vehicle emission in China and its detrimental impact on the
environment of the respective country. in course of the discussion the essay encompasses certain
ethical and rational considerations that are absent in the global aspects. Therefore, both the
countries and the corporate organisations are free to take advantages that are against the
environmental equilibrium.
The first article is dealing with the case study of Volkswagen Automobiles and the
scandal regarding emission of polluted air from their manufactured vehicles. It can be argued
that in the year 2015 the company faced a serious allegation in regards to emitting pollutions. As

the global concern for environment has become a serious issue nowadays therefore it affects the
business activities of the German Automakers in the global platform (Cavico and Mujtaba 2016).
The US Environmental Protection Energy put a ban on the company and all its business activities
in America. The article encapsulates detailed discussion about the issue and the background of
this issue. At the same time, it described the legal and consequences that the Company had
suffered in the later years. After that the article came up with some recommendations that are
pivotal for the company to maintain its business attributes in international arena.

this is the emission of CO2 from the on road vehicle (Huo et al. 2015). In this regards, the article
is identifying some possible and prevalent measures that the Beijing government is associated
with.
In this regards, the article written by Wu et al. (2010) through the discussion of the case
study of Beijing envisaged a global attitude to eradicate the practice of vehicle emission. In this
regards, the article prophesied a number of approach and steps that can be effective for the rest of

the world to resolve this never ending threat. Moreover, the article encompasses a number of
detailed statistics and information that are also supposed to be helpful to get a clear vision of the
problem and its remedies as well.
Both the articles are articulated their respective arguments in order to safeguard the
ecological stability. In case of the theme of the first article, it demonstrated a conceptual idea
about the background and the ethical and legal consequences that the company had faced since
allegation. In fact, the respective German government had taken steps to eradicate this kind of
callousness. However, the limitation of Cavio and Mujtaba (2016) was encircled into the
emission scandal only. It failed to depict a global perspective or approach in order to deal with
this kind of issues. The discussion was more capitalised by the Volkswagen Company and how it
got affected.
Therefore, it can be concluded that both the articles are tried to make a clear approach in
making the vehicle emission a global phenomena and the way to stop this evil practice.
However, despite of immense contribution from both the article in enlighten the world about this
environmental degradation the article written by Wu et al. (2010) is considered to be more
informative and well versed to identify the problem with a plan to curb it down.
