Introduction The theme in a visual art or painting is a broad idea or message conveyed by a work done by apainter. A painter paints himself or herself in the painting, which is depicted, in the colloquiallanguage by the name of the theme. There are different types of themes that denote the subject ofthe painting like a painting of nature, a military scene, religious, patriotic, historical, abstract, orthe vivid depiction of one of the seasons in a year. Sometimes the themes are also varied innature like the allegorical, elaborate symbolism, stimulating mood or poetry movements that alsodelineate the meaning of the painting done by the artists. In this exhibition, the esteemed and thefamed paintings of Botticelli and Nicolas Lancretare taken into consideration and its socio-cultural impact on the European visual culture is discussed1. The theme considered in thisexhibition is the analysis of the social and political condition of the country that was prevalent inthat era from which the paintings hailed from. Theme of the exhibition and its reflection on the socio-cultural factors In arts, the theme is a broad idea or message conveyed by a work such as a performance, apainting, a motion picture, or a video game. The message that the theme depicts or displays isusually pertaining to social life, communal or community-based, or human nature2. In arts, thetheme is major showcases the communal period and the social life that the artists hails from orbelongs to. It represents the cultural life and the political condition of the country that the artistbelongs. The theme also displays the social revolution or a certain historical happening that left acultural and economic after effect on the historical calendar. The themes of the paintings areusually implied rather than the explicitly stated. The moral aim of the theme is to see that thepeople understand the basis of the theme or the hidden truth or reality of the painting by seeingit. The theme is not usually stated or pronounced aloud in nature rather it is silent in approachand it illustrates the inner minds of the painter while doing the painting.
