1VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY
Virtual reality (VR) is considered as the computer technology that is responsible for
generating a simulated atmosphere and provides the users with an immersed three-
dimensional experience. Virtual reality technology works by inspiring the vision of an
individual and the first VR headset was initially invented by an American scientist, named
Ivan Sutherland, in 1968. Each and every VR headset focuses on generating an immersive
three-dimensional (3D) environment and eliminate any kind of interaction from the actual
world (Laurel 2016).
The concept of VR technology is exciting for many people and has a set of benefits
that assist different organization to modernize and enhance their performance. Virtual reality
is majorly classified into two categories that includes:
The imitation of an actual situation for education and training
The improvement of an imaginary situation for conducting an interactive story or
game.
The benefits of virtual reality (VR) technology are as follows (Virtual Reality Society, 2019):
Education- Education system can improve if different schools or universities adapt
VR technology for educating the students as it will enhance the engagement and
interaction of the students and create more interesting and curious environment for
learning.
Virtual Tours- Virtually going to a specific place with additional information and
extraordinary graphics will treats the trip of an individual and also will be more
comfortable, interesting and convenient for the user to visualize the place and interact
with the virtual world.
Training- Virtual reality is considered as a crucial portion in training organizations
by providing error-free and accurate training with no place of any error. This

technology generates an immersive understanding which assist the students to learn
and acquire novel knowledge effectively. The students will be able to offer different
experiences which will promote retention and repletion and help the health
practitioner to eliminate any health associated risk and safety issues. The health
practitioner will have to pay less amount of money as the budget of VR technology is
less and it offers enhanced scalability to the health practitioners. Thus VR technology
will save the money and time of an individual and also help the health practitioner to
simplify any predicted problematic situation or condition (Moran, Briscoe and
Peglow, 2018). The areas that can adopt VR training includes aviation, industrial and
defence sectors.
Healthcare- Virtual reality is considered beneficial within the healthcare sector by
permitting professionals to absorb new abilities, refresh prevailing training within a
non-toxic environment. It also assist the healthcare professionals to treat and manage
the patients devoid of any danger or threat.
The advantage of VR technology is not only limited to training and education, but also
contributed towards great advancement in the healthcare industry. The major benefit of VR
technology in surgery is training and enhancing the knowledge of the surgeons to achieve
best patient outcome. Example of training surgeons include virtual surgery system and
robotic surgery system (Pandrangi et al. 2019). Through VR training, the surgeons will
achieve valuable knowledge and experience within safe and harmless environment. The
surgeons adapt novel techniques and skills of enhancing their clinical practice without
harming any patients and also receives immediate feedback of their surgery. Hence, the major
benefit of this complete activity is to motivate and improve the confidence of the surgeons.
The medical students will also benefit form the VR technology in a similar manner. This
technology will aim to potentially train and engage large number of medical students to

enhance their skills and capabilities of handling any patient. The medical students can benefit
from VR technology in reducing the length of hospital stay for the patients and determining
their treatment plan and also reducing the total cost of treating the patients. The medical
student can experience realistic scenarios through VR technology and improve their learning
style and adopt problem-solving skills (DeBates and Lautner 2019).
The benefits and application of using VR technology will help the university to achieve
their goal of improving the education quality in diverse fields and motivating the young
students to be a successful in their life. The university will be successful in providing an
outstanding visualizations to their students that will help them to generate an exceptional
interest in their study and also enhance student’s engagement. Implementing the VR
technology will help the professionals in the university to eliminate any risk of language
barrier, which might lead to cultural difference. This adopting VR technology will assist the
