with specific features and characteristics. Visit Britain is a huge agency which helps in
increasing volume and value of tourism exports in long term. On of most crucial kind of

held, people do not only com to see sports but to place where it is being organized. Last game
has witnesses almost 4 million people who came to United Kingdom (Weidenfeld, Williams

number of tourists will be sen and revenue of this sector will be increased. On other hand, if
there is very low or high temperature, it will have negative impact on volume of people as well
as development of country at international level. Thus there are many kind of tourist
destinations which have their differentiated competencies, play crucial role in motivating
tourist or travelers from all over the world. There are some detestation which have a lot of
potential to contribute in economy of country.

will get to know about these heritage places and building (Leask, 2010). Consequently, it
will lead to expansion their value in other countries of different cultural value.
Purpose of attraction- Different types of tourist destinations have their specific motive
which is dependent upon government authorities as well as types of visitors. There are
some major objectives of tourism agencies like profit maximization and more revenue by
increased number of visitors every year. Another purpose of tourism which is fulfilled by
visitor attraction is conservation. For example, some local authorities as well as local
people try to protect destination from any type of harm. They also must maintain its
physical evidence to attract more people to visit. Thus visitor attractions of United
Kingdom are significant in various ways. These help in improving over all condition of
nation.
TASK 2
2.1 Evaluate the needs and motivations of
As different people have their own desires or preferences in tourism field, they visit
particular visitor attraction (Morrison, 2013). They are categorized in few segments. Following
are explanation of type of visitors and their needs in traveling choices.
1. Demographic-This category divides visitors on basis of age, gender, income and region.
Different people have particular needs to travel a place in United Kingdom. For example,
older people prefer closest and heritage places to visit. For example, one segment is older
people which are based in business for firm. The tour operator tries to provide relaxation
destination where people can go and spend quality time with their family. Another
segment one is sports person who want to visit adventurous places and can be motivated
by tour operator. On other hand, young people have choice to travel some adventurous
destination like rock garden or skydiving. Children have choice to visit some amusement
places like parks. More rich people have interest to visit some luxurious destinations
while middle class people will prefer different place which is chap in term of expense.
Some people who live in cold place, will prefer neutral weather place as they can not bear
high temperature .So Africa will not be their choice.
2. Psychographic- This is also an another category of visitors who have different choice in
term of tourist destination. Some traveler prefer natural destinations like lake or beaches
to visit (Sharpley and Telfer, 2014). On other hand, some have interest in human built
5

buildings to visit. For example, some people like top explore new place in world, so they
have interest in wild life destinations like forest or trekking. Another types of visitors on
basis of psychology includes person is going with family or friends which have major
impact on choice of tourism place. For example, of someone plans a trip with friends in
London, he will prefer London Eye instead of Victoria and Albert museum. But A family
group will have interest in museum of heritage places than amusement places. Thus there
are two main categories provide clear view about nature of visitors which have huge
impact on their tourism choice.
2.2 Impacts of tourism on destinations
There are different positive as well as negative effect of tourism and tourist on visitor
attractions in United Kingdom. Along with development of local area and destination product,
some damage is also done which lead in hindrance of this sector in future (Mowforth and Munt,
2015). Followings are some major impacts due to high volume of tourists.
Overcrowding- This is one of bad results of maximum visitor at tourist place. For
example, Victoria and Albert museum has huge crowd every day including children who
can harm the property unknowingly. On other hand, some people ignore responsibility to
keep clean destination product which is considered as wear and tear. If carrying capacity
of place is not sufficient, there will be mismanagement of people which will cause
problem to local area.
Traffic-related- This is also a major problem which is faced by local as well as national
authority. Huge volume of people at London Eye will lead to more traffic congestion on
road and slowdown of normal routine of people in London. More people cause more
transportation vehicles which will increase pollution in air (Dickinson, Lumsdon and
Robbins, 2011). If there is lot of people at road near tourist destination then chances or
risk of accidents will also be uplifted.
Impacts on local community-If people from all over world will come to United
Kingdom to visit, authorities of country make sure that they get best services and
facilities to promote tourism at international level. It leads to uplift living standard of
local communities as well.
6
Document Page
Authenticity of attraction- Tourist destinations get improved by adaptations to new
architecture (Moutinho, 2011). On other hand, through new changes to the history of the
site might get intrusively interpreted and original image may be vanished.
Education and training- Development in tourism sector will open new door in
education system as it is a vast subject fro student in term of explore and emplacement in
future.
2.3 Effect of different theories of tourist motivation
United Kingdom is growing fast in tourism sector at international market, it can use some
effective theories to improve existing scenario of travelling industry. responsible tourism theory
is one of most effective techniques to make better future of travelling sector of United Kingdom.
For example, they have to make sure that there is no discrimination with visitors based on
gender, language or skin colour by travel agents of host country like UK. There also should be
pleasant behaviour with them so that they will visit again and contribute in economy of nation.
Destinations must also be protected from wear and tear by visitors.
On other hand, second theory is smart consumer in which he has some duty to maintain
beauty of visitor attraction. For example, he must not harm any property and keep clean it in
term of waste throw (Law, Qi and Buhalis, 2010). Thus to improve tourism sector in term of
economy and social, these two theories play a vital role to protect people and places in tourism
sector. It helps in maintaining ethical code of conduct by travel agencies as well as visitors
ethical may contribute in creating better image of country in tourism market at international
level. Through these methods, agencies like visit Britain will be able to contribute more in
country development in long term. For example, smart customer theory motivates visitor to obey
