INTRODUCTION
In order to make the travel and tourism industry of an attraction place flourish it is
important that effective management of the sites which help in attracting tourists are well
managed which can help in the development of the tourist site. Managing tourist attraction
includes various activities like maintaining the cleanliness of place, proper accommodation and
recreational services, efficient transportation, availability of other facilities so that the visit of
tourists can be made highly comfortable and enjoyable (Leask, 2016). It is also important for the
centre and state government of the attraction to take effective measures so that it can continue to
attract tourists from all over the world which is beneficial for the economic growth and
development of the place. This report is based on the tourist attractions and their management
done in Hong Kong so that the tourists from all over the world are attracted to the city which
helps in mobilising its economy. Essential for visitors attractions, scope and scale, importance to
the local area, needs and motivations of different visitors etc. will be discussed so that better
management of these sites can be done which will be beneficial for the development and growth
of economy of Hong Kong.
TASK 1
a) Overlap of visitor attractions into various classifications
Visitor attractions are the locations which are natural or man-made constructions which
have special attraction for tourists both local and belong to national or international origin. The
number of visitor attractions in a place work as motivating factors for visitors to choose the
location for their tourism which help in increasing tourism opportunity in that location. These
attractions can be classified into various categories and can overlap into various categories
making the site important in more than one ways. Following are the various types of attractions
which are usually present in a location and help in attracting tourists:
Natural attractions: These are the attractions which are built naturally and help in
attracting tourists from all across the world like beaches, mountains, rivers etc. Which
help in providing the leisure of scenic beauty to the tourists. Lantau Island, Victoria
Peak, Victoria Harbour etc. Are the examples of some of the natural locations in Hong
Kong which help in attracting travellers and tourists from all across the world. Also the
government help in developing these regions by promoting adventurous and recreational
activities in these regions so that the experiences of tourists can be enhanced and they

can be encouraged to visit these places and also spread good word about them which is
beneficial for the financial growth of these places (Weidenfeld, Butler and Williams,
2016).
Heritage attraction: These are the oldest places which have been located in a region for
several years and carry some historical importance which help in enhancing the
historical and cultural knowledge of the place. These places also tend to attract tourists
who have interests in history and culture and also the students, scholars etc. Railways,
canals, battlefields, forts etc. Are some places which are placed in the category of
historical attractions. Haw Par Mansions, Maritime Museum etc. Are some of the
heritage sites which are famous for their heritage attractions in Hong Kong.
Purpose built attraction: These are the attractions which are built by humans serving
some purpose and have been designed in such a manner that they help in attracting
tourists for their architectural beauty or the cultural importance they carry. These
buildings are built for some purpose which helps in earning profits to the local people of
the place where the attraction is built. These places are built for serving some purpose
alongside they have also become the attractions for visitors due to their great art and
architecture. Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong museum of art help in
serving the purpose of educating people about art and science and are also able to attract
tourists (Jensen and Uysal, 2017).
Events: These are something which happen at a certain period of time or is organised at
a large scale so as to serve certain purpose like celebration of a festival, music events etc.
Which attract a large number of people due to the vibrating environment which they
create. These include organisers, food, dance, music, large number of people etc. Who
come together in these events. There are various events which are organised in Hong
Kong like Chinese New year celebrations, Halloween bashes, arts and film festivals etc.
These occasions witness a large number of visitors in the city every year and are

b) Importance of attraction in local area
Visitor attractions play an important role in the growth and development of the economy of
a location as it help in circulation of money as various tourist get attracted to the destinations and
help the transportation, local vendors, travel and tourism sector etc. in earning huge revenue.
Following are certain destinations in Hong Kong which help in contributing towards the
economic development of a region:
Hong Kong Skyline: Hong Kong has one of the most impressive and recognizable skylines
in the world with a dense collection of skyscrapers on both the island of Hong Kong and
Kowloon which is added with the beauty of mountains and the harbour which separates
these cities apart. The location is famous for its light and music show which is also known
as A Symphony of lights which help in making the view beautiful and attracts tourists

place. Also as the number of customers in these places is large they give huge chance for
these businesses for expansion and earning (Barron and Leask, 2017). Contribution to overall destination product: These attractions help in encouraging people to
pay a visit to these places thereby increasing the tourism business. This help in the
development of these places as the economy gets strengthened due to the increased tourism.

Employment revenue: As the number of people visiting these places increase the
opportunity of local people to open new businesses so that facilities and commodities can be
made available to visitors increase. This help in generating employment and also the
revenue of people increase. Multiplier effect: This means that the development of these places by government initiatives
which include small inputs, huge output can be created in terms of GDP. This means that as
the government in these locations help in developing these places they help in creating huge
opportunities of generating huge income for local people (Kebete and Wondirad, 2019).

a) Needs and motivations of different visitor types
There a various types of visitors who visit tourist destinations as per their needs and
motivations which also help in deciding the types of tourists who will visit the attraction and the
recreational activities which need to be built in these locations so that tourism can be increased.
There are following types of visitors: Adventure tourists: These are the people who have a motivation and need of adventure and
who like to have thrilling and exciting experience by the way of rock climbing, skydiving
etc. Disneyland Hong Kong can be the place for these people who can have an exciting
experience at this place. Business tourists: These people travel to destinations due to business purposes or to attend
meetings or events. These people are attracted to peaceful and natural environment which
can enhance the quality of meeting. Psycho graphical segmentation: These are the people who are attracted towards a place due
to the cultural or historical importance of the attraction which can help in enhancing their
knowledge like Macau world heritage (East and et. Al., 2017). Geographical segmentation: These people are attracted to a place due to the geography of a
place like mountains, icebergs, and beaches etc. which help in attracting them.

Tourism in a place can have both positive and negative impact on the tourist locations
which must be developed so that positive impacts can be increased while minimising the

Overcrowding: As the number of people in these locations increase it can lead to an increase
in a situation of overcrowding which also increase the over utilisation of resources which

cruise which will be based on Disney theme which will help in giving the tourists a different and
unique cruising experience on the rivers of Hong Kong so that along with admiring the beauty of
all the natural places in Hong Kong tourists can also have experience of Disneyland on water.
Following will be the process of developing the project: Project management: It is related with making a proper project plan so that all the stages of
initiating, executing and winding up the project can be done in an efficient manner by

visitors can be able to make their bookings so that the overcrowding at a particular time slot
can be reduced.
Increased staff levels: The staff levels must be increased in Disneyland so that the number
of visitors can be managed and given proper guidance while their visit at the place.
Eating area: The eating area must be able to accommodate enough number of customers
and must be able to provide hygienic and healthy eating conditions to customers.
