VLOG HEALTH PROMOTION 2
RAISING HEALTH AWARENESS
INTRODUCTION
The Ottawa chatter was formulated back in the year 1986 when the first international
conference about Health Promotion by the best world fitness freaks with the agenda of
improving the world Health status in the year 2,000. In the conference, they came up with five
main objectives, namely; establishing healthy public policies that will promote the availability of
healthy goods and services, strengthening the actions in the society through involving them in
setting goals that are aimed at specific groups, creating supportive environment by actively
involving in work and leisure activities, developing personal skills through ensuring that
everyone has access to the information and skills required to maintain their health and
reorienting health services towards illness prevention and health promotion (Bandura, 2004). The
three basic properties in health promotion are to enabling, meditation and advocating. Health
promotion can be considered to be the process of allowing people to have more control over their
lives and have better health. Usually, health is perceived to be an everyday resource rather than
being an objective in living. As a result, so many groups and organizations have arisen to try and
promote the general health of the public under different initiatives and programs. Most of these
initiatives promote awareness on mental health. This is done in attempt to support those people
with mental disability.
Mental illness can affect the thinking capacity, the character and mood of the patient. In
return, the person will not be able to effectively interact with others. Mental disorder symptoms
can be classified into different types, namely clinical depression whereby the victim persistently
feels sad and loses interest which affects their sleep, concentration and self-esteem issues. Some

involves being restless and unable to set aside worry (Bandura, 2004). Nevertheless, bipolar
disorder patients always encounter loss of interest with the reality and less energy. Nonetheless,
dementia patients easily forget and their social skills are limited. Other mental disorders are
autism whereby the affected person finds it difficult to communicate, obsessive compulsive
disorder, associated with fear of germs and schizophrenia characterized by disorganized speech
and difficulty with concentration.
Data that was collected from the research that was previously conducted in Australia
shows that forty five percent of those that were affected by mental disorders comprised of the
young generation. As a result, football NSW was formulated to involve them as a way of
improving their thinking and concentration. The most common disorder that was observed is
depression which led to drug abuse of those affected (Bandura, 2004). Alcoholism was also
observed to be the order of the day. Depression makes the patient to isolate themselves in the
long run. The effects of depression include weight loss or gain, insomnia, mood swings,
excessive hunger and irritability. In order to control and cub this, the football NSW has come up
with dates whereby they regularly involve the victims since it is clearly known that physical
exercises always distract patients and positively impacts those that are involved health wise.
Community health promotion
Besides offering recreational services, Football NSW has gone a step further to provide
health facilities and promotion programs to the young generation so that they would end up
keeping fit. This program ensures that all the participants are observing a healthy lifestyle by
enlightening them on its importance (Bandura, 2004). Unfortunately, the program does not fully
