INTRODUCTION The report will be describing about the specifications, qualifications and requirements needed role of waiter or waitress in a restaurant business. The following report will be describing about the role of waiter and waitress in the Le Meridian Hotel which was established in the year 1972 and was headquartered at Maryland, United States. MAIN BODY Qualifications and skills required for the role of waiter or waitress The waiter and waitresses are needed to perform certain activities like providing better services to the customers, taking orders, welcoming guests, serving food, constantly clearing the empty plates etc. They are responsible for creating a soothing environment for the people entering in the restaurant to raise the overall image of restaurant and increase customer experience(Davidson, 2018).The waiter/waitresses are expected to perform their best skills to enhance quality experience of the customers. The waiter and waitresses are expected to perform certain activities within the restaurant which are as follows: Understand and learn about the cuisines, beverages and dishes offered by the restaurant to its customers to elaborate it to the customers. Manage their time and activities so that their performance can be enhanced and maximum output is achieved. Perform the activities of hospitality business and culinary services and expose their best performance to attract maximum customers. Duties and responsibilities expected from the waiters and waitresses ï‚·Welcome the guest by creating warmth and showing their respective seating place. ï‚·Providing High quality services and taking orders from the customers waiting by the table. ï‚·Elaborating about the available cuisine, dishes and beverages available for the customers (George, 2021). ï‚·Taking orders from the tables and conveying the chefs on time so that needs can be prepared effectively. 1
ï‚·Regularly taking care of the needs of the customers until they are present within the restaurant. ï‚·Clearing out the tables where empty plates remain after the completion of the meal. ï‚·Taking the dishes from the kitchen and delivering it to the customers on their table. ï‚·Being well mannered and sensible to handle the customers and their problems effectively and efficiently. ï‚·Taking the direct payments from the customers and reaching to the cash counters for the bill. ï‚·Maintain higher quality of work and greet the patterns on their arrival and exit. Qualifications and specifications There are certain qualifications and specifications that are generally required by the waiters and waitresses of the Le Meridian Hotel, which are as follows: ï‚·Educational qualificationisthe minimum educational requirement for working as a better or wear dress is passes out certificate from high school(Starks and Carroll, 2018). ï‚·Moreover,certainskillslikecommunication,criticalthinking,timemanagementand problem solving are required by a waiter or waitress. ï‚·There are certain characteristics such as being well mannered, friendly and enthusiastic, having a charismatic personality, sense of humor, etc. CONCLUSION It has been concluded from the above report that there are various qualifications and skills that are required by a person to become an effective waiter or waitress in a restaurant. It has been discussed that a person needs to perform certain activities like welcoming the guest, taking orders, etc. to become an effective waiter or waitress in the restaurant. 2
