INTRODUCTION
In order to bring effectiveness in the business operations, the organisation have to
develop some technical skills and the aggregation of those acquisition is known as Management
Information System. Modern businesses are introducing the advancement of technology for the
purpose of bringing effectiveness and efficiency in their work performance which result in
achieving the organisational goals and objectives. The improvement of rosy and affirmative
employee abstraction along with the social relation has been found in the organisation. It is
necessary for the growth of organisation to make correct decision, coordinate and helps in the
engagement of work force in the practices of organisation and MIS help the management in
performing these tasks. The chosen organisation for this report is Walmart plc. which is an
American multinational retail corporation which handle a chain of hypermarkets, discount
departmental store and grocery stores from United States having headquarters in Bentonville,
Arkansas, United States. It was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton. This report cover the several
divisions of Walmart with the forms of data, roles & responsibilities of data warehousing in
Walmart. In addition to this, it deals with the code of conduct along with the new GDPR Data
protection legislation.

Walmart is a multinational company acting its business operations in international
market at various places by offering a number of products to the customers through superstore,
hypermarket, discount store, supermarket, discount stores and convenience shops (Kenny, B.,
2021). They are performing business dealing in about 10000 stores which are available globally
with more than 2300000 employees in addition to the net income of approx $13.70 billion. The
employees of Walmart are consider as the assets of organisation as their working performance
result in the growth and success of organisation as it result in the achievement of organisational
goals and objectives. Various enterprise split of Walmart are given below:
Walmart US is the extended section of entire structure as it brings about 65% of the full
gross income of the complete organisation. Walmart US has make division of retail business
such as discount stores, neighborhood market and supercentres. Discussion on retail business of
Walmart are given below:

 Walmart Super centres: The features of this retail enterprise are found as related to the
characteristic of supermarket as it supply similar goods such as dairy products, optical
centres, baked goods, frozen food, garden product and many others. Firstly, a
supermarket was introduced in Washington in 1988. Through a recent report, it is
analysed that, In United States, Walmart has more than 3500 working stores. They are
providing all products of daily use with several of varieties. The organisation is using
several technological tools for providing their products to the customers online such as
mobile application, and website. Walmart Discount stores: This division of Walmart is providing the products to the
customers by applying several discounts. The management of Walmart get the thought
of discount from the superior presentation of their Super Centres. These stores are
started from Bentonville in 1990. The sales of products of Super Centres get effected or
encouraged through the successful outcome of these stores.
 Walmart Neighborhood market: After starting supermarkets, the Walmart introduce a
chain of small grocery store, almost after 10 years. Majorly, these market focus only on
the three categories i.e. pharmacy, fuel stores and groceries. It has been found that
almost 55% of total income of Walmart has been create through the grocery part only.
The objective of this market is to build a space between its own super centres and
discount stores (Martin, Veiga and Galhera 2021). It has been also analysed that more
than 600 stores of Walmart Neighborhood market are performing the business
operations having almost 90 to 95 staff members for full time and part time as well.
Interconnection of all the business units of Walmart
All the business units of Walmart are interrelated with the two prospect i.e. technology
and infrastructure. In order to making the effective supply chain process for all the units,
technology helps the management a lot. For the purpose of completing the business practices in
an effective and efficient manner by ensuring the proper utilization of resources, technology
plays an important role. By the use of technology, the organisation can get to know about the
availability of products in all the units (Zhou, X., 2021). In addition to this, all the business units
are coordinating in order to develop an impressive structure in the organisation as it aid the
Walmart in keeping the lead on all the resources and employees within each and every outlet.

Walmart plc is performing the business operations of providing daily used products and
groceries or general products by super markets, hypermarkets and discounted stores. The
management of Walmart is following their divisional structure and providing different products.
It has been found that Walmart plc is a growing and developing company as they are performing
their business operations in a well defined structure which which also create interconnection
among all the divisions of organisation. They are majorly focusing on adopting advancement of
technology which include information technology software at work place as it result in the
smooth functioning of organisation. The introduction of advance technology at work place
makes the task and duties of employees easier (Sacchi and et. al., 2020). In order to maximizing
the productivity along with the profitability, it is necessary for organisation to introduce new and
advance technology at work place. In recording the data of warehousing, technology plays an
important role. It include the evolution and research part of information and knowledge which is
directly related to the upcoming advance technology. Walmart is performing business operations

in an effective and efficient manner by maintaining the data of warehousing. Below mentioned
are the several information system which has been used by the Walmart:
Executive Support System (ESS):
It is defined as the information system which is majorly used by the top level
management of the organisation with the motive of devising the decisions related to the
strategies. This system work for the collecting the important informations related to the day to
day working of organisation so that each and every aspect of operations can be understand.
Walmart is using Executive Support System with the motive of collecting the informations
regarding the inventory in the warehouse on the basis of their sales and financial data (Megawaty
and Ulfa 2020). This information system plays an important role in collecting the data of the
organisation. This system involve several of technologies which majorly focus on the expansion
of business operations.
Knowledge Management System (KMS):
This information system is related to the improvement of flow of information along with
the share of relevant data. In order to understanding the employees, this system has a vital role.
The application of Knowledge Management System at work place result in the availability of
various commercial opportunities. For instance, expanding the area of varieties and categories of
products which are being offered by the organisation.
Decision Support System (DSS):
In the situation of complex crises, the organisation is required to make effective decisions
at work place and this information system helps the organisation in the same situation. It has
been found that the organisation majorly focus on developing the several IT tools and equipment
which are being used by the organisation for the purpose of collecting the data more accurate.
Along with this, it also include the spread sheet of data and databases in order to developing the
data oriented model. In the context of walmart, they are using this data so that they can enabled
their managers to make effective decisions in difficult time and try to find the solutions to the
problems faced by the entire organisation with the help of set or collection of factors developed
under decision support system.
The availability of large data in structured as well as unstructured form is known as Big
data. In order to collect the correct data, Walmart is allowing the function of collecting the data
with the use of internal performance metrics system. This system is found as really helpful for

purpose of overcoming the abilities of satisfactory aspects in to the work place.
In the decision making process, above mentioned systems plays an important role as it
bring the effectiveness in the decisions. The management of Walmart is using these systems for

Along with this, it also leads to the development of capabilities and skills in the managers which
are important to develop in order to making the effective decisions in all the divisions of

providing a different experience to the customers which also bring the feeling of loyalty in the
customers and it has been found that Walmart is majorly gaining profit through the loyalty of
customers by providing them a new and unforgettable experience.

CAMELS is found as an important approach of current information system of Walmart.
Adequacy, capital, liquidity and earnings are the some factors which are involved in this
approach. It is necessary for the organisation to correctly maintain the data and this approch is
the best indicator for the same. For the purpose of accessing the large data, APT model is being
used by the organisation. This information system help the Walmart in performing processing
with the data rather than keeping in rest. Installation of Public cloud is improved from last few
years which bring several advantages in the infrastructure.
Recommendation
With the help of correct information standard, it is easy for the management of Walmart
to understand the activities of business and the ways through which they can satisfy customers so
that they can perform business operations in such a way. Along with this, it also help the
organisation in identifying the new opportunities which are available in the market. KMS, DSS,
ESS are the models which are consider as the options which are available to the management of
Walmart. By using these models the organisation can achieve the organisational goals and
objectives in an effective and efficient manner and take the organisation at high level. It is
recommanded to the Walmart to focus on the strategical aspect such as qualitative and
quantitative data processes by using the information technology and the guidance which the
management get from several global level institution (He, Ding and Liu 2021). Such activities
cover a wide range of customer data.

It has been found that the technical change in the management of organisation and
economy direct effect the Big data. These are the processes which are considered as the guidance
towards the growth of operations and strategical data. These thoughts should exposure the new
innovation in the organisation which result in providing the several benefits in the future.
Adoption of new technology at work place bring the several opportunities for the organisation
such as expansion and indulgence of creative strategies, aspects and approaches which are really

organisation from any unauthorised user.
Ethical: The software which are used by the walmart help the management in tracking
the business operations along with solving the business issues in an effective and efficient
manner. The employees of organisation is require to inform the management regarding the issues
which they are facing in the organisation before the situations get worse. Several of problems
may arise if the software work in an ethical way (Peel, J., 2019). It directly effect the overall
working performance of the organisation and risk of security. In order to meeting the
requirements of government and customers, the organisation is required to perform with ethics at
work place.
Legal: The existence of General data Protection regulation is found in the laws of
European Union. These rules and regulations are being used by the organisations in delivering
the transactions outside the EEA and EU. Walmart is making decisions related to the products
after doing a complete discussion with their clients. If the clients are happy with the product of
organisation, it leads to the generation of higher profits in the organisation. Also they are
required to fulfil all the legal formalities while they are performing business operations in any
country.
Professional: the major action which is required by organisations is to perform in a
professional manner. Walmart maintain the professionalism at work place and do not share any

information to anybody. There are several confidential informations of customers which they
share only with the management of organisation. Hence it is necessary for the management of
organisation to keep their information confidential so that they can bring the loyalty of customers
towards the organisation. It will result in maintaining the interest of customers towards the
organisation which also help the organisation in increasing profitability and productivity.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it has been concluded that the every business unit of an
organisation are interrelated. It bring the effectiveness and efficiency at work place and help the
management in making effective decisions and developing relevant strategies on time. There are
several forms in which data flow in an organisation. This report is showing some data flow
diagrams as well. Data warehousing is an important function for walmart as they are require to
keep the data of customers along with the products. With the help of data, they can make and
develop the several strategies relate to the organisation. Information technology help the
organisation in making positive relationship with there customer which result in gaining the long
term advantage to the organisation. GDPR help the organisations in keeping their informations
and data safe and confidential.
