Below is the discussion of the two news article that represents the issue of the operational management: Article 1: UK Supermarket giant Tesco sees profit dented by Covid- 19 related costs Tesco is the Britain's biggest supermarket chain, but due to the Covid-19 crisis the profits of the company slid by a fifth over the past year due to the higher costs pertained by the coronavirus pandemic. The company has faced the loss of pretax profit for the year slid to 825 million pounds as compared to the past year 1 billion pounds. Thus, to resolve this issue the company need to double its inventor and capacity to meet the rising demands of customers. The company must build strategic plans with its incredible financial strength and agility. Article 2: Food shortages could be permanent, warns industry body The food industry of the UK is experiencing the labour shortages due to which the consumers are facing the issue of not finding the products in the shelves of the stores and supermarkets.The reason for this issue is the inefficiency of the Just in time system as it is no longer working. The customer segment engaging corporate strategy of Aldiand other supermarkets corporations in the grocery shopping industry seems to be beneficial in terms of operation management and inventory management, and it is propelling the company to a successful business model. After seeing the merits of this business model in the retail industry in terms of cutting overhead costs, strengthening management efficiency, and most importantly, retaining supplying high-quality products to customers, it's clear that it is indeed a powerful tool for improving customer retention. The company has supplier policy on sustainable sourcing that highlights the employment practices and standards that are expected from the supplies all across the world the company as also policy based on ethical trading initiative and International labour organisation in order of universal declaration of Human rights. Sainsbury's human rights strategy is overseen by the responsible sourcing director, who is in charge of product procurement across the Sainsbury retail business(Championing human rights, 2022). Managers and technical managers of the organisation are expected to attend internal training on themes such as responsible sourcing, modern slavery, and human rights on a regular basis across the UK. The corporation also has a thing for gender equality, and its human resources strategy commits to detecting
gender inequality problems, with the operations and management of the company attempting to mitigate and remediate these difficulties through effective gender equality schemes. Human resource management is a process of selecting keeping in developing the right workforce that has competencies and skills to perform multiple operations of the company. The operation management is a process of a business in which the aim is to create highest level of efficiency within the organisation by converting the raw materials into the finished goods to maximize the profit of the organisation. In order to fulfil this responsibility the human resource division of the company provides effective work force to the operational manager by recruiting the qualified workforce that could assure business productivity. What challenges this area faces daily Within an organisation the HR department has to deal with multiple issues and that may convert into the biggest challenges. On the daily basis the HR department has to face the issue of retention and motivation of employees as in order to retain the employees it is very important to provide them with the job satisfaction for which motivating employees on the regular basis is highly important task for the HR department.
The HR department also has to face the issue of leadership development and corporate culture within an organisation as in order to maintain the positive and ethical business environment it is very important to train and lead the work was towards the corporate culture. Reflection Overall, the unique presentation on the specific business field was a positive experience for me. To begin my presentation preparation, I needed to choose the business field in which I would conduct research and present my results in the form of a digital presentation. In the presentation, I have included a lot of information on an organization's human resource department and how it contributes to good operations management and overall company management. During the presentation, I was able to understand the importance of the Human Resource Department, the issuesitfaces,andhoworganisationscannotfunctionwithoutemployees.Throughmy investigation and data collection, I was able to transform it into useful information that I could use in constructing an informative presentation. Also with my effective creativity and designing skills I was able to add many pictures and info graphics to my presentation which made my presentation attractive, easy to understand and catchy. Also, while constructing a presentation, my written communication abilities were really effective. My intense interest in the human resourcebusinessfieldwasthemostcrucialandgoodthingIexperiencedduringthe presentation. I was able to assess my future profession and enthusiasm in this field as a result of this. But, at the same time, I've become aware of some of my flaws, which I need to address and examine in order to improve my future actions. I discovered that I have poor technical abilities, as a result of which I was ignorant of tools for creating good presentations that take less time to create because they include templates. I've also discovered that my critical thinking and problem- solving abilities are lacking. I was unable to explore broadly into this area while writing about the issues that human resource departments encounter on a regular basis. As a result, the overall presentation I created was both instructive and well-represented.
