Task 1:
Almost every year the manufacturing companies in United Kingdom regulates and
rectifies 7 billion tons of industrial wastage which includes hazardous and non- hazardous
elements. Hazardous wastage may cause significant risks to the nature in terms of safety and
healthy environment and the non-hazardous wastages are quite similar to household type
wastage which basically do not need a proper attention (Ajayi 2015). In order to minimize
extra cost to manage the wastage of the company, the company should adopt several
strategies to reduce the industrial hazardous and non- hazardous wastage. These strategies
will help to enhance the social, financial and environmental benefits of the company. While
exploring the wastage management techniques it has been observed that if the company adopt
these strategies, it will be additionally beneficial for the company for the wastage disposal
enhancement process and recycling process of raw materials (Barak 2016). Thus to minimize
the raw material wastage, the company must adopt the technique of legislation of industrial
wastage.
There many ways to reduce the raw material wastage industries which includes the
recycling activities, resource reduction and maximum utilization of raw materials. Respective
techniques are described below:
 The Environmental Wastage Disposal Act:
This disposal act deals with the wastage of environmental properties like lands
and natural elements. It will take care of the maximum utilization of any land or
natural property and also helps to reduce the wastage of it by, EU Landfill Directive
(Bromiley 2016). The target of this directive is to offer the industry to reduce the land
wastage and rectify of the mentioned problem.

 Deep well injection:
This wastage disposal technique deals with industrial water wastage. This
technique is used to store hazardous waste like CO2 into underground in a geologic
formation. The mentioned technique can help to reduce the water wastage as after a
certain time these deep well can become a limestone or a shallow soil layer. This
disposal act helps to enhance the oil production, prevention of salt water intrusion,
storing CO2 and mining. Mentioned method has been used in many chemical
companies from the year 1930 (Burke 2016). This technique is divided into 6 different
classes. These classes have different functionalities and construction, but the most
useful class is 6 as it stores CO2 for a long time.
 Incineration:
According to (Burtonshaw-Gunn 2017) In order to manage the energy wastage
this technique is followed. This disposal act fundamentally follow the rule of
converting the waste materials into gases, heal, particle and IBM’s, later on these
products are used to produce electricity. Mentioned technique can help to reduce the
material wastage and form a useful energy resource. Thus this technique can be used
as a beneficial wastage management procedure.
Task 2:
For identifying all kinds of workplace hazards there are a number of techniques which
involves interviews which will be one to one, survey of risk assessment and also collection of
feedback gathered from all the employees of that specific industries. Steps which are needed
to be followed those are described below:

The first step mainly involves hazards analysing which describes the responsibility of any
employer for assessing the factor of risk and hazards which are generally seen to be faced by
their employs and also the co-workers.
Step 2:
The second step describes the process of analysing all those who are seen to be affected by
the risk factor which is determined. For getting this required information there is a need for
all the employs to give feedback for surveying which is seen to be conducted by the industry.
Step 3:
This involves how the actions are taken against the hazards determined, which may suggested
by the employs as well as the employers. After completing the above steps, the next step
involves the proper action taken against the problem raised.
Step 4:
This step is generally a process of keeping records of every actions and findings mainly
which actions are taken against those findings.
Step 5:
This involves reviewing of the process of assessment. Certain rules are followed to validate
the risk assessment process which are mentioned below:
1) Check and clearly analyse if the conduction of survey is seen to be conducted with a
practice which is healthy or not and also checks if any employer or employ is harmed
or not.
2) The feedback which is given by the workers were needed to be genuine.
3) Check and analyse if there is any kind of risk still remaining after all the actions are
taken against the problems determined.

4) Investigate and properly check if all the legal rules are followed or not.
After the process of risk assessment the employer is needed to move forward and control all
those hazards and this involves a number of steps. The steps are clearly mentioned below:
a) Substitution is the process of substituting all the traditional procedures with those
which involves new processes. This will helps in the reduction or the elimination of
the factors which are hazardous for the workplace.
b) It offers a proper training for the workers, which will reduce the hazards of the
workplace within the company to a great extent. It is necessary to provide proper
education to workers about all kinds of machines and technologies.
c) Third step includes isolation which is an alternative way for restricting the hazards
from effecting the workers adversely.
d) The last step involves personal awareness which is very much required for the
employs to be aware of while working in a manufacturing factory or industry. This
mainly done to avoid all the risks associated with the industry.

After conducting the risk assessment it has been observed that there are significant
amount of industrial wastage which is effecting the work environment. In order to reduce the
industrial wastage of the workplace there are several control measures present which can be
used by industries:

1. Safe-guarding Techniques: It is essential to follow safe-guarding instructions
provided by the government as well as by the industry’s authorities. It reduce
the chances of risk occurrence.
2. Separation: After the determination of hazards it is necessary isolate those
from the industry area in order to protect the workplace from the effects of it.
3. Elimination and Utilization: The best way to reduce the industrial wastage is
to eliminate inefficient equipment and utilize the raw materials to its most.
Task 4:
 In order to lift a 45kg wooden box containing equipment, it needs a mobile crane to
do the operation.
 A hoist can be used to lift a 15kg plastic container.
 Telescopic cranes are more often used for lifting and moving heavy engines.
Task 5:
According to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulation (COSHH),
workplace hazards must be stored in safe place, to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
And the processes are described below:
 It is essential to store hazardous substances like gases, oils, acids, adhesives for the
sake of a safe and healthy environment, as most of these are flammable elements it
needs an advance procedure to compress and store those hazardous elements away
from ignition. Most of these substances are consist of enough percentage of toxic that
reacts immediately with contract to flammable and oxidizing gases. An effective way
to avoid disaster caused by these hazardous substances the compressed and processed
substances should be preserved in stainless leak proof tubes and the composition of
inert must be less than 5% (Deng 2015).

 It has been observed from the analysing of industrial wastage materials there are two
types material wastage of one of them is recyclable and another one is non-
recyclable. Thus, those element should be stored in different places (Galanakis 2015).
The recyclable elements should be send for processing and the remaining elements
should keep away from locality in order to maintain a clean and safe workplace.
Task 6:
In order to deal with the workplace hazards Wakefield College has introduced several
efficient electrical and mechanical hazards prevention policies which are described below:
 In order to avoid the industrial electrical blunders it is necessary to design such
commercial circuit which must have the facility to prevent the remaining circuit in
case of any fault occurrence and should also use high quality fire protective wires and
equipment, which will help to protect the machines and equipment from damage. It is
advised to solve the problem isolated from the primary zone for not effecting the
remaining circuit.
 In order to prevent the industrial hazards due to rotating equipment it is necessary to
follow few steps which are described below:
1. To prevent the accidents caused by rotating equipment is it necessary to
safeguard the human body parts such as arm, hands, hair and legs.
2. Company must provide training to the workers about machines.
3. It essential for the employs to follow the instruction strictly.
