Project Management Methodology:
Project management methodology delivers services of information technology by which they can

manage and initiate the individual projects. So project methodology delivers tools for making the

job of project manager little easier. Project methodology holds guidelines, templates, and

definitions which is used for managing the various project’s activities (Aston, 2017).

Role of Project Methodology in Project Management:

Project methodology keeps a very important place
in the project management. Some roles are
given below:

Project methodology is used for planning the idea of the project. By using this
methodology, the project’s idea can carefully examine. So they can determine that whether

or not the idea of the project is suitable for the organization.

Project methodology is used for preparing the scope of the project in writing. It is also used
for calculating the budget of project and resource’s need.

It is used for execution or launch of the project for that purpose responsibilities and tasks
are divided between the members of the team. This time, important information can fetch

up to about the project (Alexander, 2018).

By using project methodology, project managers can check the progress of the project and
compare the status of the project with the actual plan. So project methodology is used for

controlling and checking the performance of the project.

After the completion of project tasks, project methodology is used for checking problem in
the project and solving the all problem in order that it will be beneficial for the organization.

It is used to provide the common language for starting the work of the project.
It is used for managing the project very efficiently.
It is used for achieving all objective of the industry.
It is used for preparing the progress report of the project on the standard aspects.
It is used for achieving the basic goals of the project (Borysowich, 2010).
Here they choose two methodologies from five methodologies which are waterfall and SDLC.

Similarities between Waterfall and SDLC:

SDLC and waterfall models have many similarities which are given below:

During the first phase, all the potential requirements are gathered about software
application from the client in both models.

During the second phase, the team is evaluated with new technology and software’s need.
Team also creates a document for this and concludes the cost of the project.

In the design phase, both models plan the requirement of technical design that can be data
layers, programming language, and services (Bowes, 2014).

Difference between
Waterfall and SDLC:
SDLC and waterfall models have many differences which are given below:

In waterfall, there can be a high-risk factor in the project which is not present in SDLC.
Waterfall can’t be used in the big project but SDLC can be used in big projects.
Waterfall can’t be utilized in the projects where the project’s requirements can be changed.
But SDLC can be used.

Waterfall can’t be used for a complex project but SDLC can be used.
Both models are used different – different testing technology for testing the coding and
process of the project.

Waterfall provides the feedback but SDLC doesn’t provide the feedback (Kosten, 2017).
Evaluation of methodologies which relates to Project Life Cycle:

Project life cycle is an assembly of logical phases that starts from the initial stage and goes to the

final or end stage (Riddell, 2017).

Both the methodologies are used project life cycle phenomena for working on any project so these

methodologies are highly related to the project life cycle. As they know that the project life cycle

has four main phase. Same as these methodologies also use these pages.

First all, they analyze the basic idea of the project and all the requirements of the project.
Then they prepare the primary documentation of the project in both methodologies.

Then they evaluate all the requirements of technical needs. Then they prepare the layout of
the project and plan the strategy that how will project work and get success.

Then they implement all planning which is taken in phase second. Then system
deployment, system testing, and system maintenance are performed by the project

manager. Project manager checks all the error and success of the project.

After the satisfaction of the customer, the project reaches its final stage which is a closing
stage.

So these are the four-stage which describes that these two methodologies are highly related to the
project life cycle
