Internet of Things have proved to be a revolutionary technique in today’s generation.
The IoT has multiple devices that are installed as part of it while on the contrary many
devices were developed latter to leverage the technology. One of such technology is the
wearable devices. Wearable technology are the gadgets that the user wears and use IoT for
sharing & tracking the information and other potential means. The potentiality of the
wearable can be leveraged by different industries. Multiple industries such as the mining,
healthcare and others are leveraging the technology, however, multiple industries are still
looking for appropriate way to leverage the device in discussion. One of such industry is the
supermarkets. The wearables and supermarkets both are witnessing a mass adoption in term
of size and number. Hence, it becomes of great necessity that the technology needs to be
discussed with context to its impact on the discussed industry. The discussed portfolio has
attempted at discussing the methods through which the supermarkets can leverage the
technology.
Brainstorming:
The potential impact of the discussed technology on the industry has been discussed
in the following statements and discussions:
 Supermarkets is an industry that acts as host to a large number of employees and
hence, it becomes of great necessity that the organisation cites special attention. The
wearable technology will enable the organisation to monitor the health of the industry
and will even enable them to access the organisational information instantaneously
which will enhance their productivity.
 The discussed technology will have prominent impact on the supply chain industry of
the supermarkets. The technology will enable the organisation to keep track of the

supply & delivery vehicles in real-time that will be of great assistance for both the
supermarkets and its supply chain associates.
 Integration of the virtual reality (VR) would prove to be of great assistance on
integration of the wearables in supermarkets. The employees can provide the
customers real life experience virtually to assist them in selecting an item. It will
increase the organisational productivity and sales figure.
Regulation & Ethics:
The impact selected for the further tasks is the assistance that the wearable will offer
to the employees of the supermarkets. The following factors and constraints has been
discussed that can make the discussed impact possible or act as a constrain for success.
LAW:
Wearable technologies collect data and shares it in real time which is viable in the
deemed scenario because of the fact that healthcare industries are using the wearables to
monitor the health of the patients. So, learning from the healthcare industry can prove to be a
vital factor for monitoring of the health information of the employees.
MARKET
The cost that will associate itself with the purchase of wearable technology for so
much employees may act as a constrain to leverage the impact of wearable on the
supermarket. The reason behind the above stated constraint lays base on the fact that
wearables are disruptive technology and at the same instance the supermarket is one of the
industries that employee a massive number of employees.
ARCHITECTURE

The wearables are mostly developed to share and monitor information and another
notable fact is that the organisations are adopting IoT as part of the organisational
infrastructure. Hence, two of the discussed facts could be integrated to justify that the
architecture for the deployment of the wearables can be achieved with great simplicity
because of mass IoT adoption.
SOCIAL/ ETHICAL NORMS
The adoption of IoT to monitor the health information of the employees can also be
used in a distinctive means to monitor the personal life of the employees which will be an
unethical action on part of the supermarket. Hence, the discussed ethical issue can act as a
constraint for the potential impact of the wearables on the employees of the supermarket.
Disruption:
The sharing of information for the employees in supermarkets are one of the most
complex job. During the need of dire situation, the employee who needs information goes to
the supervisor who then checks the necessary data in the system. The data collected from the
system is then transferred to the employee who then uses it. The discussed process is manual,

manual process is complex however, the scenario can alter completely when the wearables
technology enters in the scenario. In the discussed scenario, the role of supervisor is
minimised because the employee interacts directly with the system and collects the necessary
data for use. It is time & effort saving and at the same instance is short & fast. Hence, the
