LO2 Be able to design web applications
P2.1 Design a web application to meet requirements given in the case study
Designing of the website is done by taking the help of the storyboards. Through the help of
the storyboards, the design of the website can be completed easily. Through this, a brief idea
of the components that are going to be used on the website can be understood easily.
All the storyboards are developed by taking the help of the Balsamiq tool. All these
storyboards are shown below:

P2.2 Synthesise client-side and server-side functionality in a web application
Client-Side Functionality:
The client-side value cannot be synchronized with the server-side. API can change the client-
side. The client-side development is done in JavaScript. Its script runs after web page loaded.
The client-server requesting to the server for the pages and then displays to the user. Also, the
client-side is Web Browser. Client-Side cannot relate to database in the web server.
A server-side development in HTML. It scripts to run before HTML page is loaded. In this
side, the scripts are not run customer computer system. It is responsible for serving the pages.
The side interacts with the Back-End. The Server-Side is used to connect to the database on
the web server.
Client Needs: The Client Needs are monitoring and reviewing, giving proposal and
implementation and needs and expect analysis. The clients have own goals and desire. Client
requires the search tab through which user can easily search the products without wasting
time.
Figure 8- Hierarchy of Client Needs

P2.3 Apply a database design for the given scenario
The database of the Argos website is developed on the phpMyAdmin. Through this, the data
inside the database can be stored in an easy manner. All the data of the users, as well as
Argos, can be stored in a proper manner.
Design: Before designing the database I have to design logical design. While designing this I
have implemented a different type of tables. After that, it is converted into the physical model
and through this, the organisation of the data can be done in an easy manner.
ER modelling: as I have implemented the conceptual design, therefore, working with the ER
model is the easy concept. Different primary and foreign keys are implemented through this
modelling technique. The ER model that I have developed for the Argos is shown below:

features.
It has many themes and features. There are not easy to download theme
from Joomla,
It is mainly designed for Word Press. In this different cost available for
downloading themes.
It is more flexible than word press. It is difficult to maintain.

LO4 Be able to test web applications
P4.1 Critically review and test a web application using a web enabled database
management system for the chosen company case study in task 2
User Acceptance: The User acceptance is also called End User Testing and Beta, and
Application and understanding that how the software works on the client site. It is the final
procedures of software project this testing was done before the final installation of the client
installation. User Acceptance Testing is where user checks all mistakes on the client site and
correcting the defects which are discovered in the software. The User Testing is the last step
when the software going to live, it involves many steps for a test case in the software and
result if the test case is Pass or Fail.
There are few steps are involved in User Acceptance Testing:
Planning: In the UAT process should have a clear understanding of what is the
responsibility of each person.
Designing: In this, UAT creates a test case. Data should be secure and private, and the
user should be familiar with the database flow.
Documentation of Test Cases: The Documentation is a thing where us clearly defines
the responsibility for implementation of user feedback.
Bug Fixing: In this, if the result is in hand after bug fixing then this process is also
known as Go/No- Go Decision, in this if the user is satisfied then GO and If not then its
No-Go.
Types of User Acceptance:
Beta and Alpha Acceptance
Contract Acceptance
Regulation Acceptance
Operational Acceptance (Economictimes, 2017)
Functional Testing: In Functional Testing, the tester verifies the specific function of the
codes. The functional testing should be manually and automation tools, but manual testing is
easier then automation tools. In testing, the functional testing executes first rather than the
non-functional testing. The testing is a process where evaluate the system compliance with
the specific requirements. The Functional Testing is a black box testing.
31
Document Page
Types of Functional Testing:
Unit Testing
Smoke testing
User Acceptance Testing
System Testing
There are five steps of Functional Testing:
Prepare test database of the functions.
In testing, the requirement of the business are the inputs of functional testing
In testing, the functional testing finds out of output of the function
Execute of test case
At the last and final Step, in this, the user observe the output.
Check Against User Requirement:
In this requirement, the user analyses all requirement and what the client needs. The outline
testing testes by user acceptance testing and performance qualification. The user requirement
generally creates when business is planning and determine the needs. It is cannot be
combined with functional requirement document.
Browser compatibility testing:
The testing of the Argos website is done on different browsers. These screenshots are shown
