IMPROVEMENT IN WEB SERVICE COMPOSITION TECHNIQUES AND
METHODS 3
1. Title: Improvement in Web Service Composition Techniques and Method
1.1 Overview
Web services are well-thought-out as self-contained segmental applications that can be
appealed across the web. In our present days, companies and organizations are implementing
their primary businesses and other application services through the internet. Development of web
services application depends on the ability to select inter-organizational services on the web
more effectively and in an efficient manner. If a single web cannot satisfy the requirements by
the user, combination of services is required in order to fulfil the users request (Alrifai, Skoutas
and Risse 2010). In this case, the trend has enforced research on improving the composition of
web services in industry and academic world. The proposal aims at finding way and techniques
for enhancing the web services composition techniques and its importance.
1.2 Problem statement
In our current society, web services have come up with the high and rapid progress of the
internet. Concerning web services, research has shown that there are several initiatives have been
put in place intending to create platforms as well as languages to achieve a smooth integration of
different systems. Despite these efforts of making the web services composition techniques more
active, the composition remains a complex task. It has become beyond human efforts and
capabilities to engage in the whole process manually. The complexity has emerged from the
increased number of services in the web in the recent years (Bertoli, Pistore and Traverso 2010).
Also, the services can be updated to date hence the composition systems should have the ability
to detect the update at the runtime which decides on the decision to be made on the up to date
information and finally, the existent of a unique language which defines and evaluate the
services in a similar means has become one of the complex tasks. Other challenges in web

services composition are the consistent changes in business policies, high range of diversity as
well as the heterogeneity of the web services.
2. Research questions
This work is purposed to reduce the complexity and duration of time needed to create and
execute web service and improve its effectiveness and efficiency which is based on possible
selection of services available using the useful composition techniques (Lee, Kwon,Lee, Park
and Hong 2011).
Therefore, the research aims at answering the following questions:
What are some of the models to apply to solve the complexity of the Web services
composition techniques?
How best can the high diversity of the web services be minimized?
Which web services descriptions are to be used to enhance accuracy for the available
services and mechanize systems of composing services processes?
What are the initiatives to include to provide platforms and language that will enhance
more straightforward incorporation of diverse systems?
What are the alternatives to be used if the single web does not satisfy the requirements of
the users?
2.1 What are we investigating?
The goal of the research is to identify the possible solutions towards improving the web
services composition approaches. This will be achieved by determining the challenges towards
the process. The study aims at investigating on the path to the high number of web users who

makes the process complex. Since a unique language is not available, the study aims at solving
the problem since a single communication is essential in defining and evaluating services in an
identical means (Okutan and Cicekli 2010). Overall, the goal of the research is to identify
practical factors in solving problems affecting the web services by improving the composition
techniques.
2.2 Importance of the problem
The actual usability of the software application is the initial success of any system. Since
companies and organizations are implementing their primary businesses and other application
services through the internet, improvement on the web services and techniques is essential.
Development of web services application depends on the ability to select inter-organizational
services on the web more effectively and in an efficient manner. The study aims at focusing the
limitations affecting the web services and come up with various approaches of solving the
challenges (Liu, Li, Huang and Xiao 2010). Effectiveness and improvement of the web services
will lead information that is accurate, accessible, available as well as reliable to the user and that
it meets the user’s requirements.
2.3 How our study differs from what has been done before
Our research on improving the web services differs from other research on initiation of
composition approaches. This research aims on improvement while research done before were
initiating studies of the web services. The composition techniques undertaken have failed in
addressing some of the key challenges such as the high diversity of services as well as lack of
unique language (Randles, Lamb and Taleb-Bendiab 2010). This research aims at enhancing
previous studies done on the improvement of the internet systems for the wellbeing of the users.

3. Methodology
In this section, the methods used in conducting the research are evaluated. Study in action
research is the method of choice.
3.1 Application of action research
A description of how the action research applies to the survey focusing on its cyclic
nature regarding Lewin’s action model. The model entails the analysis, planning, acting,
observation as well as reflection phases. In the analysis phase, a fact-finding mission will be
conducted to analyze the actual problem. Planning will consist of ways of improving the web
services based on the analysis and interpretation of the results (Kemmis, McTaggart and Nixon
2013). Third phase will outline the act on the plan by identifying the limitations on the web
services composition techniques and improving them to achieve efficiency of web services.
Finally, the effects of the working on the restrictions and challenges on web services should be
observed. The outcome of the action will create a basis for future planning of a better-informed
intervention which will ensure the cyclic nature continues.
3.2 Why use of action research?
Action research has successfully been used for other investigations hence
reliable (McNiff 2013).
Action research is based on its cyclic nature which aligns with the
development process of our study (Stringer 2013).
Action research involves real situations and aims at bringing solutions to
problems.
