INTRODUCTION
Homosexuality is considered as a sort of attraction between two people having the same
sex. They may be physically, romantically or sexually attracted to the other. A term has been
given to the aspect that when a man is attracted to some other man, either physically or sexually,
he is called as a gay (Saez, 2011). When a woman is attracted to some other women, they are
called lesbians. There are some people who are attracted to both the genders, that is men and
women, they are known as bisexuals. A community has been made as well which includes the
homosexual, bisexual and transgender individuals (LGBT) that makes a stand for such people
and also protects them from any sort of discrimination etc. So, homosexuality can be termed as a
situation of people when they get attracted towards same sex. The attraction can be because of
any reason, it may be sexual or any type. The ancient culture as well provides evidences of
homosexuals as various drawings have been observed of men having intimate relations. Homo
means same and sexual means gender.
As these people have a community, so the community members prefer calling the
attracted men as gay rather than homosexuals just because people falling in this community also
feel comfortable and did not get disheartened or demotivated. This is important as well because
these people are also humans and deserves respected equally to the other genders as well. The
only difference between the both is their hormones and feeling of attraction which is very
normal, so any sort of misbehave or mid-conduct with them should not be supported at all. Same
sex marriage is being done between two people of the same sex. IT can be done in a religious
way or as a secular way as well. In United Kingdom, same sex marriage is allowed. In the
starting of development of UK, same sexual marriages and affairs were considered as sinful. In
the year 1967, decriminalisation between the same sex has been observed and at that time, rights
were made for the LGBT community.
After a few times of getting these rights, these communities were getting support
continuously. According to the Equality Act 2010, it says no discrimination should be supported
in any case anywhere. It is totally against the rights. Everyone should be treated equally and
anyone found guilty or involved in it, may have to pay huge penalties and also get suspended as
well. Although in various parts of the country, same sex marriage is not allowed but in UK, the
rights for the marriages for the same sex has been passed by the Parliament of the UK in the year
2013. Although it came in force from March 2013, but it is better that it has been allowed. There

is nothing wrong in gay marriage as they are also humans and they equal rights to live their life
as they want to. When men and women both are considered as equal these days, then rights for
them must be equal as well, as in various other parts of the world, it is not allowed as it is
permitted in UK (Fingerhut, Riggle and Rostosky, 2011). A civilised society does not
discriminate on the basis of colour, sex, gender etc., as it is not allowed as well as per the
legislations. It is the freedom of choice and it is their life. If they are attracted to the same sex,
then it is their choice whether they want to carry forward or not. If they want to, then they have
their rights and no one can discriminate them on this basis. It is totally against the laws. The
report is about analysing the awareness of the arguments that have been in for and against the
marriages of the homosexuals and also, it involves the arguments for the adoption by same sex
couples.

Literature Review
Concept of same sex marriage
Same sex or the interest between the same sex are called as homosexuals. If a man is
interested in another man, then, they will be considered as gay and the same way, when a woman
feels attracted towards another woman, the term is considered as lesbian. Although there are
various rights that have been made in aspect of the same sex marriages, but still, there has been
observed discrimination in this concern. The people are being discriminated on the basis of being

homosexual. The LGBT community has although got huge support from some related
communities. At the time when the same sex individual thinks of marriage, they are being
demotivated by the people and various communities. Although, now it has become a legal action
but some people still demotivate them which decreases their morale. When the people says that
there is nothing that boys can do and girls cannot. Both are treated equally now, so equality
should be done in this case as well. If two persons of the same sex are happy with each other and
they want to continue their relationship by giving it the name of marriage, then there is nothing
wrong in it. The government of UK has made some rules as if the two persons of the same want
to get married, their age must start from 18. There has been made a community for the lesbian,
gay, bisexuals and the trans genders (LGBT) which supports such type of people and also
protects them from any sort of discrimination. The marriage of the two members having the same
sex has been legalised in UK. But still there are some people who discriminates them and
minimizes their more, which is totally against the laws. So, anyone if found guilty may have to
pay the huge penalties and also can be suspended from their work.
Arguments for- the marriages between the same sex
There can be various arguments that supports the marriages of the same sex. It is because
if two persons who are having the same sex, whether they are male or female, are sexually or
physically attracted to the person of the same sex, wants to stay together and love each other
company, then no one has the rights to question them or make fun of them (Fassin, 2010). It is
called equality. If the two people are enjoying together and want to marry each other, then, there
is nothing wrong in it. It is their life, so their choices as well. Marriages are not being done
formality purposes, in fact they are being done when two people are satisfied with one another
and happy as well. It is when both the people want to live together and give their relationship a
name called marriage. It is not the fault of the person to be homosexual, bisexual or a trans
gender.
The humans are all the creation of god, so there is nothing weird in it. As there are
bisexuals, as there are a huge number of people who are attracted to the same as well as the
opposite sex. This is common for people but being a homosexual is not. It is a quite disturbing
concept that bisexuals are been given preference over homosexuals. It has become a trend
nowadays (Gerstmann, 2017). Many people who are themselves bisexual think it is OK to be like

that way but they discriminated the homosexual ones, which is completely wrong. All are equal
and should be considered equal as all the humans are the creation of god and there should not be
any sort of discrimination on that. Everyone is best at their own. The gender, age etc. does not
matter when two persons are loyal to each other and there is love between them. It is their choice
that they want to live together and marry each other, so everyone should support them and
become a part of their happiness.
Arguments against the concept of the same sex marriages
There are two ways to look at this concept. Some people do not even bother of these
people marrying each other and some create conflicts and issues on this topic. There are some
communities that creates conflicts on these matters as they think as people in the past think it of,
they think this is an action of sin, so they do not stay quiet when some person marry that are of
same sex. So, these do not support marriages between the same sex marriages (Paternotte and
Kollman, 2013). Some people are also against of this concept as they think it does not help in
maintaining the processes and activities of the nature. Some said that even if they will adopt a
child, to whom the child will call a mother. It is obvious that mother plays the most essential role
of a human life and no one can take place of her. So, the adopted child may stay unaware of the
mother's love which is very important as it helps in growing and also teaches the things that no
other can guide.
Some does not support the homosexuals as they think the people are unable to increase
their population as they think it will not develop a family, rather it will develop a naturally sterile
union. Some people who are totally against of this concept think that there is no sense of doing
marriages between the people having same sex as they think two persons of same sex are
attracted either sexually or physically to each other and wants to spend time together, so they
thought of marriage but there is no sense of doing this. They cannot increase the population,
although they can adopt a child but they cannot continue their population. Just because they are
attracted to each other does not mean to marry, some consequences are also needed to be
observed as well. Although there is a community for the lesbians, gays, bisexuals and the trans
genders that is called the LGBT community, they provide support to such people. This is a
community of a large number of such people in it (Saez, 2011). Their forte is to support such
people and protect them from any sort of discrimination. Not supporting the marriages of people

of same sex is OK within an extent but discriminating them is not okay at all. It is totally against
the laws because everyone should be treated equally. No matter what their caste, gender or
colour is, no one should be discriminated on this basis. All are equal and must be treat like that
only. According to the Equality Act 2010, everyone should be treated equally and no sort of
discrimination is supported. If anyone who is found guilty of this may have to pay huge penalties
as it is totally against the laws and it is not good as well to discriminate anyone on the basis of
their colour, sex and race. The inside gut feeling of a person should not allow them to do such
kind of acts as it makes the other person disheartened and demotivated as well.
Analysis
As people are against the concept of marriages between two people of the same sex
because they think both of them cannot help in maintaining the procedure of the nature, that is
they both could not be able to increase their population. In contradiction to it, both of them can
adopt a child as well. It is not important to break the relationship just because they both cannot
have a child and if still in the 21st century, people will think so, then there seems to be no
difference between the literate and the illiterates. However, it can be concluded that if two people
are happy and they want to stay together, then it does not matter whether they both can have or
cannot have a child. Although increasing the population is also important but it is also important
to ensure that the homosexuals after marriage cannot continue their population because it is not
possible and it is also a creation of god, so no one can be blamed for this (Paternotte and
Kollman, 2013).. At various parts of the country, it has been observed that the homosexuals face
a lot of discrimination, either they go to some restaurant or any place, people tend to act weird
with them for no reason. In contradiction to that, the LGBT community has given proper support
to them and in every possible case. The members of the LGBT community provides proper
support and care to the homosexuals.
At some places, it is also considered as a sinful act as people do not support this, despite
of the fact that it has been legalised by the UK government. The government has allowed that the
homosexuals if want to marry, they can. At various places, where people think it as a sinful act
misbehaves with such people and treats with them in a very bad manner. In contradiction to that,
it cannot be considered as a sin because in this, if both the parties are ready for marrying each
other and staying together, then no one should bother about themselves. However, it can be
evaluated that if both the persons are happy and want to stay together, then no one can term it is

a sinful act or something like it. It is their choice completely and they can do whatever they want
to. Various people in UK do not disclose their gender as they are afraid of the fact that they are
being excluded out from their jobs. Still, there is some sort of fear in people about their gender
exposure that if people will get to know their actual gender, they can be mistreated or people
may act weird with them as well. It is because various employees have been facing the
discrimination at the workplace because of being homosexual. In contradiction to that, the
Equality Act 2010 has made it clear enough that there should be no sort of discrimination in the
workplace and everyone should be treated equally (Jowett, 2014). There should be no sort of
racism or discrimination with anyone on the basis of gender, cast, colour etc. However, it can be
evaluated that the homosexuals or any other people in the LGBT community may file a
complaint against the person discriminating them and the involved persons may have to pay a
huge penalty and along with it, they can also be suspended from the job. When the people
marrying each other has no problem, then others must also not have to focus on these matters. If
two people are happy with each other and wants to stay together for lifelong, then, there is no
issue in marrying each other. If they want to marry the same sex, there is nothing problem in
that. It is their choice. There are some people around that are not support such couples and raise
various further issues regarding it (Fassin, 2010). In contrast to it, the most important factor is
that when even the law has been passed over this and the government has no issue regarding the
marriages of the same sex persons, then, the people should not also bother what others are doing
and why they are doing etc. However, it can be evaluated that these should not be banned and
various laws have been made as well for supporting such kind of acts. It is their choice of
keeping affairs or staying together either they do it officially or unofficially.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the report that there is nothing wrong in same sex marriages. In
fact, it is their life, so the choices must be of them. If they are comfortable in doing so, no one
should be bothered about the fact. There have been some arguments which supports the concept
of the same sex marriages and similarly, there are some arguments that are against the factor.
Proper data analysis has also been done by conducting the investigation from a survey. Some
people were observed as supporting the factor of marriage between the same sex couples and
some were against of the factor. Everyone has their own opinion regarding this. It has also been

analysed that although there are various laws that prevents discrimination against homosexuals,
but there is a need of a few more so that they also can feel secure and confident. They should be
treated equally as they are also humans and they can do whatever they want to.
