INTRODUCTION
Pret A Manger is a sandwich shop which operates in UK market. This concept is known as
ready to eat. The aim of this restaurant is to provide healthy alternative to fast food items.
Founder of this restaurant chain are Sinclair Beecham and MetKalfe. . the main objective of
these two founders was to provide good sandwiches to people without any chemicals or additives
or preservatives used in the processing method. This report is based on the research topic i.e.
analysing the strategies used by this organisation.

The aim of this research is “ To analyse the strategies of company to sustain in market”.

The main purpose for conducting this research is to know what are the strategies and plans
that are adopted by Pret in order to maintain competitive advantage. This research will enhance
my knowledge regarding the marketing strategies and plans of company and way for managing
profit.
Background of research
Pret A Manger is known as a concept which is based in UK. This means that this
organisation is named after fast casual concept which is Panera bread. This restaurant is

providing restaurant facility which sells salads, sandwiches, baked products and soaps. This
organisation is having an excellent competitive advantage within the restaurant industry. This
company is positioned in market very properly and main concept of this restaurant is to provide
healthy, time crunched and value driven products and services to urban customers. This research
will help in knowing about the strategies used by this company.

Concept of competitive advantage
According to the view point of David, and David, (2016), Having a competitive advantage
within market is very important for any company in order to business for long period. Pret a
manger is having core values of simple ingredients, freshness as well as quality products which
are served to customers. This restaurant provides quality and healthy products to people which
are generally liked by all people. A fact about this restaurant is that there having an onsite
kitchen in which soups, sandwiches as well as salads are created in a central commissionary. The
sandwiches of Pret a manger are generally smaller than the super size fast food sandwich
provided in other restaurants. The sandwiches provided by this organisation have good balance
of bread protein and flavours. This restaurant has an excellent product positioning as it provides
healthy food to the consumers and concerning about the chances of obesity in people. Pret A
Manger is a restaurant chain which has local food teams which develop food in both UK as well
as us. This restaurant chain focuses on three things affordability, better for customer and
personalization.
Strategies used by Pret a Manger for success in market
As per the views of Kumar, and Pansari, (2016), Pret A Manger is a restaurant organisation
which has different core competencies that enable it to remain successful within market. The
main objective of this organisation is to focus upon quality of food and providing the best service
to customers. This mainly emphasizes on fresh as well as natural ingredients within the products
which makes it different from other competitors. There are plenty of resources and
environmental strategic perspective switch are used properly by this organisation in order to
maintain success of business. This organisation focuses on setting as well as maintaining high

organisation has a lot of potential which demonstrates that they have capability of doing
successful business in market. This can be explained from the fact that it has grown from having
a single store to over 220 stores across different countries. Expansion of e business is not always
a profitable concept for this restaurant but it is working successfully in the areas in which it is
providing sandwiches and other edible items. It is very essential for this company to focus on its
strategic planning as well as growth plan and financial processing so that it can develop a full
proof plan that can be used for attaining success in different countries. This will directly help in
increasing profits and sales of the company and becoming the number one choice of customers in
case of sandwich providing restaurant. This company is focusing on expanding its business in
Japan by using franchising.
Research Methods
Research methodology is defined as framework which is dealing with explanation of
different set of methods and techniques used for collection and presentation of information in
order to execute findings of the project work. This is helpful in in managing the research
activities as well as tasks which have to be performed in proper manner to get desired results for
the conduction of effective research. There are several research methods involved in this study
which are explained below -.
Research type - it is very important for the investigator to conduct an effective and strong
research for deciding which kind of study has to be e used for or making findings about the
research topic. There are two types of methods used for conducting any research which are
qualitative and quantitative methods. While conducting this research, both these methods are
used because these support in collection of information in proper manner and evaluating
theoretical frameworks for explaining particular research topic.
Data collection method - this consists of various ways used for collecting information and data
that can be used for making effective interpretations about the research aim and objective. It is
very important for the investigator to choose relevant and important information that is valuable
for the research work. There are two type of data collection methods like primary as well as
secondary methods. In order to conduct this research, secondary data collection method is used
because this supports gathering and collecting information from already existing data. The
secondary sources of data collection used in this research are reliable and valid. This is helpful

in in providing effective findings and justifying the references taken from previous studies. there
are different methods of gathering information through secondary source such as literature
review journals, books, articles, etc.
Research design - this is known as the way of managing the working of research work in proper
manner. This supports the structure which is adopted by the investigator for gathering
information and data. There are three type of research design which are used for conducting the
research. These include descriptive, exploratory and experimental research design. In order to
conduct the present study, descriptive research design is used. The reason behind this is that it is
helpful in collecting and gathering information which is relevant and from the collected
information, interpretations and findings are developed. Moreover, this is helpful in supporting
the research topic in effective manner and collecting information and data through more valid
and reliable sources.
Findings
It is interpreted from the secondary data regarding Pret that it offers healthy fast food to
customers which is it’s way of attracting people to buy from this organisation. The main
objective of this food company is to not only earn profits but to provide healthy products and
food items to people.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, It is analysed that it is important for any organisation to
analyse the concept of competitive advantage. This is important for companies to manage the
functioning effectively so that they can attain profits. It is very important for any company to
learn from strategies and plans used by other companies. These will help in managing the work
effectively.

When I was conducting this research, there were various challenges which I have to face while
collecting data which is required to make effective decisions. It is very important for me to
develop and enhance my skills as well as knowledge regarding this project. It is very important
for me to manage the accomplishment of project work as this will help in providing desired
results for the company. While conducting this research, I built several skills as well as abilities
that have improved my way of doing the market analysis as well as evaluating different factors
which can impact upon sales of the product. This is very essential or me to manage my work and
do proper work so that I can manage the research work accomplishment properly. This is also
essential or me to know all the concepts and aspects about conducting a successful research.
This is also essential that I am using relevant and effective research while doing the work. For
me, main objective of doing this research work is to enhance my knowledge about this
organisation and competitive advantage of this company. Learning is a continuous process and
there are various ways by which I can learn and enhance my knowledge about the research topic.
In the present research, there is competitive advantage analysis of a well known organisation
naming Pret a Manger which is providing sandwich across UK and it is a very old organisation.
While conducting the research, I am able to increase my knowledge regarding fast casual
restaurant business and what are the strategies used by this company to maintain competitive
advantage within market. This research has helped a lot to improve my skills and manage the
way in which work is done for improving my capabilities of conducting research. There are
