Assessment 1
Part A Case Study/Practical
You have recently taken ownership of a small boutique hotel. You decide to do a
hazard identification walk. This is a report that you produce:
Upon entering reception I noticed small pools of water left by guests shaking
their umbrellas and taking off their coats. There are a lot of brochure boxes left
behind the reception desk. Some are over 15 kilograms in weight. The
receptionist’s work stations look very aged, with cardboard being used
underneath one of the chairs so it remains balanced. The desks are small with
the computers taking up a majority of the space.
The computer’s glare is obvious from a distance. Behind the desks, cables to
the computers are laid out on the floor. The socket that is used for the
printer/fax machine and the EFTPOS machine appears to have become loose.
Cash is counted in front of customers and placed in a drawer which is obvious
to customers when the curtain to the back office is drawn.
A hazard identification template has been provided below.
From the above report, complete the template.
