Analysis of Work Health and Safety (WHS) Report

This report analyzes the Work Health and Safety (WHS) report of 2006 and 2007, focusing on injury claims, Lost Time Frequency Rate (LTIFR), Average Time Lost Rate (ATLR), medically treated injury frequency rate, and hazards. The report shows that the WHS management system was successful in minimizing the risk of work-related injuries in the workplaces. The report also highlights the decline in LTIFR and ATLR in 2007 compared to 2006. However, the medically treated injury frequency rate increased in 2007. The report concludes with the attendance in WHS committee meetings and training courses in 2007.

It is seen that in 2007, the total number of claim was 85. According to the report of 2006,
it seen that the claim number is slightly lower than that of the 2007 and there was 76 cases were
reported in 2006. By analyzing the data of Table-1 it can be interpreted that work related injury
claims were almost same that is 68 cases in 2006 and 69 cases in 2007. However the claim of
work related lost- time was decreased in 2007 in compare to 2006 ( 11 claims in 2006 and 3
claims in 2007).
From the graphical representation of The Lost Time Frequency Rate ( LTIFR) it is seen
that the rolling average was significantly changed in 2007 than that of the 2006. In 2006, the rate
was 3.89, but in 2007 the rate became 0.84. However, in 2005 the rate was quite higher and it
declined in a stiff way. In 2006 the LTIFR maintained a plateau phase according to the graph.
After that, stiff decrease was seen. This decrease in the LTIFR indicated that the WHS
management system was very much successful in minimizing the risk of work related injuries in
the workplaces.

In case of average time lost rate (ATLR) it is seen that in 2007, the ATLR was quite
lower than that of the 2006. The ATLR was 2.33 days in 2007, whereas in 2006, the figure was
6.58 days and it was quite higher. From the graphical representation it was seen that, there was a
huge decline in ATLR from 2005 to 2006, but after that, there was a high rise in the ATLR and it
maintained a plateau condition. In 2007, there was stiff decline and rate became very lower in
2007.

The graphical representation of medically treated injury rate indicated that, the frequency
had increased in 2007 in compare to 2006. The rate of frequency was 14.63 in 2007, whereas in

2006 the rate was 11.08. The medically treated injury frequency rate maintained a uniform rate
in 2005 and 2006 and it had a slight gradual rise in 2007.

The numbers of hazards that were reported were quite similar in case of 2006 and 2007.
In 2006 the number was 344 and in 2007 the number was 341. However, the reported incidents
were reduced in numbers that is 227 cases in 2006 and 198 cases in 2007. In 2007, the
attendance in WHS committee meetings was 83%. Moreover, the training courses were less in
number in 2007 (54 training courses) than that of the 2006 ( 58 training courses). The attendance
in per course was reduced in 2007 ( 13 participants in 2006 and 12 participants in 2007).
According to the WHS officer, the claims was a little higher in 2007 than 2006 and the reason
behind this was the increased number of journey to work claims. MTIFR was increased due to
improvement of injury reporting practices. This practice helped in minimizing the injuries.
