Contemporary Global Environment refers to the factors which impacts the world which
includes local regional and national environment. In this project the socio-economic research
about the healthcare has been discussed. Population characteristics and how it affects the

MAIN BODY
1. Importance of socioeconomic research in healthcare
In regard to socioeconomic research, it can be said that it refers an effective research that
not only provides information about various sector to researcher but also helps them out in
generating all important information. By generating relevant information, it can make healthcare
providers in interpreting data and making better decisions related to healthcare services to
service users (Kivimäki and et.al., 2020).
Socioeconomic research plays a vital role in healthcare as it helps healthcare providers in
knowing all socioeconomic aspects that may affect healthcare of service users. Some
socioeconomic determinants that can be identified with socioeconomic research in healthcare
include: aspects of social environment like discrimination, education level, marital status and
others. It also includes physical environment such as: crowding condition, built environment and
others. All these determinants have several impacts on health of patients or service care and by
knowing detailed information of these determinants by conducting socioeconomic research;
health care providers can improve health of services users in an effective manner.
All these aspects or determinants are also known as socioeconomic characteristics and by
knowing these such as: educational background of service users, income group, strategies of
healthcare are being selected accordingly (Hoffimann, Barros and Ribeiro, 2017). So, overall it
can be said that by conducting socioeconomic research in healthcare, healthcare providers can
improve factors that can have positive impacts on health of service users such as; community
safety, financial security, housing, access to healthcare, nutritional values of food and others.

better manner only with the help of socioeconomic research. There are some reasons that show
importance of considering population characteristics in healthcare such as:
Aging of population: Aging of population is the main factor or characteristic that can
affect healthcare to the great extent. It is stated that aging of population in healthcare affect as it
affects demand because people of older age requires healthcare services to the great extent as
they are more prominent to get affected from infectious diseases and others. As compared to
young people, older people use more healthcare services so it can limits healthcare services for
Younger in some situations (Linzer and et.al., 2019).
Crowded areas: It is another features of factor related to population that can also affect
healthcare services given to service users. In this context, it can be said that crowded areas and
infection go hand in hand. Airborne diseases spread to the great extent in crowded area and one
of the best examples of it is: Covid-19 and this factor of population is affecting health of people
to the great extent. It is also affecting healthcare services like shortage of dosage, healthcare
resources and others.
Education: People who are educated and have knowledge are more likely to co-operate
healthcare providers and increase engagement rate in treatment process. Whereas, people with
lack of knowledge and education do not cooperate healthcare providers that can lead frustration
and impact on health of people (Hopps and et.al., 2017).
3. Relevance of data on morbidity pattern
Morbidity pattern means prevalence of disease as per the age. It can better be understood
with an example such as: In the UK and other countries older people report greater prevalence of
chronic disease such as: heart disease, diabetes, mental illness, hypertension and others. So, from
this it can be said that there is a morbidity pattern in the UK in older people regarding chronic
disease. So, in this context, it can be said that it is important for healthcare providers to have
appropriate data regarding morbidity pattern in their local country (Liang and et.al., 2018). This
data on morbidity pattern help them out in developing strategies and taking decisions
accordingly.
It also helps healthcare providers in knowing the need of healthcare among specific age
group of people. By knowing health seeking behaviour of older people in the UK, challenges,
benefits and all about healthcare can be known. From some studies that have been developed on
morbidity pattern on ageing population or older people, it has been known that ageing population
