1. New Features of Windows Server 2016
The different attributes in the Windows Server 2016 that the “We Make Windows”
company can make use for carrying out the core IT services have been mentioned below. The
services have been included as newer features by Microsoft have been proved to be beneficial
for the fundamental IT services as well as to assist the successful implementation of the
solutions for fulfilling the basic needs of the company (Morimoto et al., 2017). These are:
i) Nano Server- this server is supposed to be 92 percent smaller footprint for the
installation than that of the Windows Server and the relative Graphical User
Interface or GUI. This server has been explicitly considered to be working entirely
on a remote connection. However, there is no primary inclusion of a minimal UI
for the localized management that is particularly referred to as the ‘Nano Server
Recovery Console’. The WMW can make use of this Nano server for carrying out
the IT service with greater efficiency.
ii) Containers- Docker development has been collaborating with Microsoft for
bringing the containers based on dockers to the containers of Windows Servers.
There is the inclusion of two differently existing containers within this, namely
the likes of Windows Server Container that is supposedly intending at the
workloads that are low-trust and the Hyper-V container that is super-isolated (Lee,
2017). These two containers can be properly utilized by the organization to
fulfilling the daily needs of the organization.
iii) Linux Secure Boot- One of the primary component related to Unified Extensible
firmware Interface (UEFI) is considered to be Secure Boot and the relative
specification provision the server’s environment with the primary amount of
protection that is needed by the organization. In regards to this, the organization

named WMW can deploy the Linux related VMs into the Windows Server 2016
for carrying out the Linux related processes and fulfilling the regular needs of the
organization.
iv) ReFS- This is referred to as the Resilient File System (ReFS) that has been
present within the Windows server for a long time (Sequeira, 2017). However, in
the Windows Server 2016, the ReFS has the primary intention of having a high
performance to provision with a Storage Spaces Direct as well as the Hyper-V
workloads.
v) Nested Virtualization- this process of Nested Virtualization states the capability
that a virtually existing machine to particularly provision with a space to the other
existing virtual machines. This highlights the need for the organization named
WMW for deploying additional Hyper-V hosts as well as the particular need of
the organization to minimize the costs for the hardware and meet the needs of the
organization on a daily basis.
2. Deployment and Server Editions
How many total servers are needed? Which roles will be combined?
Five servers will be existing within the company. These are,
i) Management server- the managing as well as running the company by the
executives.
Accounts and finance server- maintenance of accounts as well as other financial
duties of the organization (Tomsho, 2017).
ii) Marketing server- performance of market research as well as advertising
activities.

iii) HR server- performing of HR activities such as the likes of recruitment and
employee management.
iv) IT server- performing of all the IT activities such as development of the software
used by WMW and other technical activities of the organization.
What edition of Windows will be used for each server (e.g., Standard, Datacenter)?
Windows Server 2016 is to be attached for each individual server of the company that
have been deployed for performing each and every role carried out within the premise of the
organization.
Will Server Core be used on any servers?
The management server is to be enabled utilizing the server core for managing all the
existing procedures of the business organization. On the other hand, the accounts and finance
server will also have the option of server core for maintaining the accounts and the payroll of
all the employees belonging to the organization.
Where are each of the servers located (which of the two sites)?
The Los Angeles site shall have the existence of the following servers:
i) Management server.
ii) Accounts and finance server (Svidergol et al., 2018).
iii) IT server.
The following servers would be enabled for the New York site
i) Marketing server.
ii) HR server.
How will the servers be deployed? Manual or automated?

5WINDOWS SERVER DEPLOYMENT
The existing servers are to be manually deployed using variously existing procedures
belonging to the theories of server deployment.
3. Active Directory
Number of AD domains?
Five active directory domains shall be available for each individual department
belonging to the WMW organization (Schulz, 2017). Hence, the AD domains will be as
follows:
Accounts and Sales department
Executives
Advertising department
Finance
Human Resources
IT
Will there be any Read-Only Domain Controllers?
There shall be the existence of a read-only domain controller having a security
authentication over the accounts and finance server and that of management server. This is
because of the activity that is carried out within the servers that should have a security
authentication to protect the same from the access of external sources.
How will the second site factor into domain controller placement? How will AD sites be
configured?
Control shall be provided to the existing Domain Controllers over the servers that will
be situated at both the sites together. The second existing site of the WMW Company is in

Angeles; one employee at each department would have their postings specifically at New
York site (Panek, 2018).
The AD sites of all the departments for their each individual role will be configured
following a manual procedure.
How will AD organizational units be organized (considering how group policy will be used
and users will be organized)?
Every individual department is to be provisioned with an active directory for
performing with the respective activities of the organization.
The Executive Active Directory Domain will allow all the employees of the
department to carry out the general work of managing all the work that is carried out within
the organization. Following this, the accounts department will monitor over the entire payroll
and the revenue generation procedures of the organization (Snover, 2016). The active
directory of the human resource and finance department additionally performing the
recruitment procedures will perform the similar task. Lastly, the active directory of the
advertising department will allow the employees to market the work done by the
organization.
In all the above active directories, the users will be provisioned to have the access to
all the resources available within the active directory in regards to the respective tasks
performed by the organization.

Will a form of DHCP fault tolerance be implemented?
DHCP fault tolerance is the conditions that exists between two server serving with the
IP subnets to the hosts of the network. However, in the network of the WMW, there is the
existence of a single DHCP server named the Windows Server 2016 (Palmer, 2017). Hence,
there will be no existence of the DHCP fault tolerance.
Will DHCP reservations be used for servers?
DHCP servers shall be using the reservation method for assigning every individual
DHCP client with the help of a fixed IP address since the IP addresses can be managed
sufficiently well by the administrator of the network belonging to the WMW organization.

How will DNS be handled for the second site?
The DHCP server serves the first site, which is the Windows Server 2016 from where
all the DHCP clients in that site is supplied by the IP address. However, the second site is
connected to the first site with the help of a secure tunnel properly utilizing the IPsec that has
been specifically established within the two sites to carry out the entire communication.
Hence, with the secure channel, the DNS at would be explicitly handled at the second
existing company site.
5. Application Services
How will applications be deployed? If using Group Policy, what are the details on how
Group Policy will be used to deploy the software? Which software applications will likely
be needed?

9WINDOWS SERVER DEPLOYMENT
The applications on the DHCP clients of every individual departments will be
supplied with respective software that belongs to the differently existing services that are
carried out within the departments. Remote installation properly utilizing the group policy
existing into the Windows Server 2016 would be included as the deployment for these
applications (Ashraf, 2017).
The group policy can used for the deploying of the applications by two primary
methods that have been explained as follows,
i) Assigning software- the program can be specifically assigned to the users or the
DHCP clients. This takes place when a user would log onto the computer for the
first time and runs the software the application is installed.
ii) Publishing software- the application can also be deployed by publishing the
required software to the users. This takes place when the respective user logs onto
the computer, the application gets published and is specifically displayed on the
Add or Remove programs and the relative dialog box (Kristanto, 2018).
For the departments that are performing different activities, various applications will
be deployed such as management software for the executive department, financial
applications for managing the finances of the finance department. This also includes the IT
department that require multiple software for different development and technical activities.
6. File and Printer Sharing
What shares might be needed?
Some of the files that lie common to the entire department such as various
information belonging to the customers of the organization as well as some of the resources
that belong to the organization itself. Some of the end-user devices such as the printers and

the scanners are also required to be shared to minimize the hardware costs on the company’s
end (Krause, 2016).
Explain File Permissions
Each department will have an access control with the help of which the resources
belonging to individual departments are kept hidden from the access of the other departments.
However, there might be certain situations where a specific department shall have the need
for some information from some other department to carry out a certain activity. In such
scenarios, the server will grant the permission for the access when a request is placed for
access.
