The marriage of oak with wine has proved to be oneof the happiest instance over the century. Adding oak to wine was done by masterful design. When European wine producers failed to create better taste of wine then thought of using Oakwas introduced. It was introduced for those who were fond of wine. It was also difficult toexport those wine to other places to earn large profits. Wooden barrels were commonly used inEuropean economy as well as in Roman Empire. Wooden barrels were used to move goods fromone place to another to cover long distances. Everything including water, fish, olive oil weremoved in wooden barrels and so was with transporting wine. Those days, wooden barrels werethe only choice that were used for perishable goods (Cejudo-Bastante, Hermosín-Gutiérrez, &Pérez-Coello, 2011).In early centuries, winemakers used to search for woods where they can easily store winebecause it used to preserve the essence of wine for longer duration. Many hard woods were usedto create those barrels which also created negative impact on the taste and flavor of wine. Then, there came an idea in the minds of French producers. They thought to use oak woods that wereproduced in Baltic region. Baltic region lies in north and east region of Poland during those days, but these days they are easily found in homeland forests. The oak woods in making barrels wereused which maintained the quality, flavor and taste of wine. Later in 1700’s, other wineproducers started discovering other many benefits of using casing wines in oak woods. It was notonly used for shipping purpose but also used to maintain the age of wine as well (Creation times,2014).It took more than two weeks to harvest the grapes and make them available to prepare wineand meanwhile, the wine producers focused on creating Syrah. Later, young wine which wasrecently made was transferred to oak made barrels to continue its maturation stage. It was putinto the oak barrel to analyze the impact of oak in wine. The wine makers plays a very attentive role in choosing those barrels because ifwrong barrels are chosen, it will directly affect the taste of wine. There are majorly three areas who used to produce barrels throughout the entire globe. Theseare France, USA and Eastern Europe. The origin of barrel were used from these countries only(Puckette,2013).Oak is used in making wine in order to vary the color, flavor, tannin profile and texture. It isintroduced in the formation of barrel during the period of fermentation and aging. Similarly, freefloating chips and staves were also added to wine which was further fermented in a stainless steelutensil. The barrels which were made of oak which used to impart other many qualities with thehelp of evaporation process. It also gives less exposure to oxygen. In the modern winemakingcentury, wine barrels plays an integral role. One Oak tree is only capable of making two Oakbarrels. It takes decades to grow one oak tree and a while to cut those trees and made barrels. Inaddition to this, it is not an easy task to convert those trees into barrels. It requires great skills toconvert those trees into well-developed barrels. The average price of a new wine barrel costs nearly $600-$1200 which is very high. This is alsoa major reason behind the high cost of wine because it involved huge amount of cost invested inorder to manufacture such fine wine. The cost of raw materials adds $2-$4 for one bottle of wine. So, it is not an easy task to make a great wine at low price. Today there are few people who canafford such great wine because these are too expensive. Hotels and restaurants offer wine tomaintain a warm welcome for their guests. Many hotels still fail to serve fine taste of wine whilethere are many hotels who serves great taste of wine. The main reason behind serving great winein hotels and bars is the total capital budget they invest in these departments (Puckette, 2016).Reasons behind aging of wine in oak barrelsIn early days, bottles made of glasses were used.
