WIRELESS NETWORKS AND SECURITY
Introduction
This report focuses on the features of 5G technology with regards to
network coverage, bandwidth and upload and download speed. There has
been a comparison done among 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks. A comparative
analysis has been done with these networks in the report. This report reflects
about the architecture of 5G, analysis of including risks and issues in the 5G
network.
Motivation
5G can be considered to be the next big thing in the Internet
connectivity. It is a vision for future wireless communication in the world. It
will help in attaining 100Mbps access speed to 95 % of the users and support
up to 10,000 connected devices per Base station [1]. In technical terms, the
realization of the vision entails with proper network speed and area
coverage. Therefore, technology has been moving towards implementation
of 5G spectrum. This report has focused on comparison of 5G with other
networks.
Comparison of cellular networks (5G, 4G, 3G and 2G)
Communication Spectrum
The communication spectrum of 5G has been properly integrated with
the network. The target has been focused on availability of 3.5 GHz spectrum
for mid-bands of 5G networks. The regulators has been aspiring for
increasing spectrum of 5G network up to 26-28 GHz. 5G spectrum operates
within 3 distinct ranges in order to facilitate purpose of supporting widely
dispersed coverage. 4G networked is related to LTE network which is
operated on frequency of 600MHz to 2.5MHz. This range incorporates the
frequencies of 700 MHz, 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz, 1.7/2.1 GHz and 2.5 GHz [3]. The
bandwidth that is allocated per channel in the case of 4G network varies
from 5 MHz to 20 MHz. However, in case of 5G network, the range varies

from 5 MHz to 100 MHz. IN case of 3G network, the bandwidth rages
between 5 MHz to 20 MHz. The rate of data access up to 2 Megabytes per
second that helps in accessible rate of data up to 384 kilobytes per second
available over Wide Area Network (WAN) [9]. The bandwidth of 2G has been
generalized up to 25 MHz. The operating frequencies have been diversified
owing to category of utilization. The accessible frequency lies in the range of
900 MHz to 1800 MHz. However, in the occasion of the services rendered to
fetch the functional requirements of CDMA network, the operating frequency
is 800 MHz. The category of Band frequency is concise or narrow in broader
perspectives. The carrier frequency in this case is 200 KHz. The speed
rendered by the 2G network is 14.4 kilobytes per second (Kbps).
Modulation Techniques
The modulation techniques included in the 5G network has been
outstanding with regards to peak to average power ratio, performance in the
occasion of interference and hindrances offered by the noise and finally the
spectral efficiency. The use of 3G network included with enhancement of
HSPA. The utilization of 5G modulation techniques has been anticipated for
successful in diminishing PAPR and efficiency of network [11]. The design
specification of the 5G network is such that it is capable of rendering
premium spectral efficiency, owing to the lower rate of spectral efficiency
provided by the networks of frequency below 3GHz. 4G network or the LTE
network employs utilization of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex
technology (OFDM). This technology has been helping in maintaining a keen
approach in the telecommunication sector. The authorized spacing between
the subsequent channels in the case of LTE connection is 15 KHz. The
relevant symbol period is symbolized by 1/15 KHz which is equivalent to 66.7
microseconds [2]. LTE connection provides the tremendous speed
transmission of the serialized data through the propagation into multiple
sluggish streams.
