2 WIRELESS NETWORK1. Answer 1The process of data encryption deals with the transformation of a data into a secret code.This is thus a very effective way to ensure data security in different networks. The person whohas an access to a security key can only decrypt the data encrypted. Data security is ensured inWiMax networks with the involvement of different encryption standard and algorithms. WiMaxor worldwide Interoperability for Microwave access is a high level wireless broadband accessused for providing enhanced wireless connections over a wide range (Biham & Shamir, 2012).The encryption standards that are used for encryption of data in WiMax network are triple or3DES encryption standard, AES and CCMP encryption standard.The features and advantages of these three encryption standards are described in thefollowing table-Triple DESAESCCMP1.It is a triple dataencryption algorithmthat applies the DESalgorithm on aparticular data threetimes to ensureadvanced security2.It is a symmetric blockcipher algorithm,which is widely usedin encryption of data inWiMax network.3.The key size of 3DESis 56 bit but it usesthree keys of same sizefor data encryption.Therefore, it becomesalmost impossible todecrypt a dataencrypted using 3DES(Singh, 2013). 1.AES of advancedencryption standard isan enhanced version ofthe triple DES and iswidely used forencryption of data inWiMax network. 2.A symmetric blockcipher uses keys of 128bit/ 192 bit forencryption anddecryption of data(Karthik&Muruganandam,2014). 3.This encryptionstandard is much fasterthan the 3DESencryption standardand hence widely used.4.It successfully replaced1.CCMP is an advancedform of AES and isbased on AESencryption protocol. 2.It is an enhanced datacryptographicencapsulation methodsfor securing theconfidentiality of dataor packets in WiMaxnetwork (Saberi et al.,2012).3.It uses a 128 bit keyfor data encryption. 4.The initializationvector in CCMP is oflength 48 bit.5.It is one of the mostwidely used encryptionstandards in WiMaxnetworks.
