TOPIC:"A study to explorethemain barriers to women taking up management positions in the hospitality industry in the UK" A case study on Premier Inn.” INTRODUCTION The hospitality industry is one of the leading sectors in the United Kingdom, which provides a variety of products and services to fulfill customer needs. But in this industry, women are facing a number of problems in terms of barriers which prevent them taking up management positions. These problems include not being able to work late nights, resentment from male employees who do not want females as their superiors, lack of support from their families and many more (Powell, 2018).Due to these challenges, female workers not able to achievetheir dream as well as succession in real world. So, in order to avoid this type of situation it is necessary for organization to understand about women empowerment. It refers to process according to which women generally recreate as well asbuildthemselves so that they achieve their objective and goal. The respective report is based on challenges which are faced by female staffs while getting management position at workplace and for this organization taken is Premier Inn. It is a subsidiary branch of Whitbread which is conducting its business in hospitality industry. The respect hotel is founded in year 1987 by Whitbread and it’s headquartered is situated at Dunstable, United Kingdom. It offers its products as well as servicesglobally. Topics which are includedin this research are issues which female employees face in order to get management position as well as it will also include limitations which are faced during conducting respective research. Along with this it will also include research aim and objective in order to conduct research on respective topic as well as it explain about methods which help researcher in collectingdataaboutissuesfacedbyfemaleemployeesatPremierInninordertoget management position. Some of the major issues which female employees face are they are not able to work late nightbecause of unsafe environment and society restriction.Along with this at some place’s management does not consider female employees as much willing and capable that they may handle management position in effective and efficient manner. The respective topic is selected
for this research because it is very essential to know that what are challenges whichhinder female employees to achieve their goalsso that everyone know about it and try to remove issues. By conducting this research project manager able to know about issues which help them in developing strategies as well as plans that leads to women empowerment at workplace. Through developingandunderstanding about women empowerment peoplewillable to support femaleemployeesof PremierInn whicharefacingvariouskindsof issuesinattaining management position. Through women empower project manager also able to promote as well as support female employees so that they achieve their goal as well as target in real life. Such as in Premier Inn female’s employees are facing various challenges such as they are not allowing to work late night, family not supportfemaleemployees to work in hoteland so on. (Acker, 2012). So, by conducting this research, project manager able to develop awareness about women empowerment at respective place so that female staffs should treated equally and properly. Aim refers to a work or task which describe about overall purpose of conducting research or any project. It is essential for a project manager orresearcherthat they develop aim that must be clear as well as concisely defined to other peoples which are connected to research (Sparrow and Cooper, 2012). While conducting research it is necessary for research to develop research aim so that they easily communicate its purpose and accomplish their objective effectively and appropriately. In context to conduct respective research, the aim developed by research is given below: - “To identify the challenges faced by female employees in getting the management position at organization”. A case study on Premier Inn. Research Objectives and Research Question(s) Research Objectives:Research has an initial objective of extending the knowledge of human beings, environment and natural phenomenon to others(Kincheloe, 2018). Research objective which developed by respective research researcher on the topic of issues which are faced by female employees while attaining management position atin Premier Inn are given below: - To determine the role of female employees at top management position in respective hotel.
