INTRODUCTION
Work-Based learning is mainly inclusive of diversity of informal, formal and non-formal
arrangements which also include work placements, apprenticeships and informal learning. In
simple terms it is defined as assessment as well as development of skills which is directly
associated to workplace (Bouchon, 2022). It has been evaluated that work-based learning is
mainly termed as an educational strategy which offers individuals real-work experience in which
they can duly make application of their technical as well as academic skills in order to develop
employability.
Present report is conducted on Premier Inn which is operating its roles and
responsibilities in hospitality industrial sector and is a British limited service hotel chain. Hotel
was founded in the year 1987 and offer wide range of high quality products as well as services to
customers. This report include discussion upon the manner in which project planning, monitoring
and evaluation is being done. Along with this discussion upon own experience and learning at
the workplace is also done in this report.
MAIN BODY
Planned and initiated the project. Setting targets, aims and objectives for your project
Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 government around the world has imposed lockdown
and issued guidelines in which organisations in nearly every industry were subjected to work
with less staff in organisational workplace premises. Due to this, Premier Inn implemented
digital tools and techniques in order to conduct its roles and responsibilities on digital platform
and manner in order to satisfy customers needs and demand. However, hotel faced issues in
which employees are facing challenges in performing their work on remote basis, as they are not
aware with digital and IT skills. To overcome this issue Premier Inn have set certain aims and
objectives

“To develop IT and digital skills among employees”
With this aim Premier Inn is looking forwards to enhance employees performance during remote
working in order to provide maximum satisfaction to customers.

To training employees by develop their IT and digital skills

from initiation to completion
It is essential to properly manage, monitor and evaluate the project process in order to
fulfil project objectives in a well define and effective manner. In this project life cycle plays
important role in managing and monitoring project in effective manner. Mentioned below in-
depth analysis of PLC is being conducted in context with the project:
Project life cycle
Project initiation:
It is the first stage of project management life cycle, it duly offers overview of the
project. In terms with present project proper understanding of Premier Inn project requirements,
objectives and goals in done. Project initiation is inclusive of project goals, benefits, mission
budget resources and more. In terms with present project the main goal is to develop IT and
digital skills within employees in order to order to make them compatible with digital
transformation in hospitality industrial sector. For this Premier Inn emphasise upon offering
virtual training as well as offline training to employees.
Project planning:
Lot of planning is needed with set of plans which provides a direct to complete a project.
It is mainly a blue print of overall project. In this, proper coordination is done by me in which
preparation of project budget by proving cost estimates of resources needed in done (Gretzel,
2022). Along with communication is being developed to deliver important and necessary
information to members.
Project execution:
It is among one of the most important stages of project life cycle, in this tasks to each and
every individual is assigned and resources are allocated in a well define and effective manner. In
this major issues such as time management and quality management is done in order to solve
issues in the beginning.
Monitoring and performance phase:
In this stage, it has been evaluated that in the above project objectives has been put into
motion by me. Furthermore, proper monitoring and controlling is being done. Along with this

regular team meeting is also undertaken. In addition to this, progress report is compared with
project plan in order to measure performance. With the help of regular communication proper
updates in being provided on regular basis.
Closure phase
It is the final closure phase of project, this stage emphasise upon final form of
deliverables. At this stage handing project document is being done by me to Premier Inn top
executives. In addition to this, proper analysis of the things went well and did not is being duly
examined by me.
With the help of project life-cycle all the stages of project get accomplished in a well
define and effective manner. It helps me to properly manage, monitor and evaluate overall
project progress in effective manner.
How at project completion you met the deadlines and achieved the benefits of stage of aims and
objectives for your project
It is important to list all tasks and deliverables of project, as this helps in accomplishing
overall project goals in a well define and effective manner. In terms with present project to
effectively meet deadlines and in order to benefits of stages aims and objectives I have duly
undertaken use of my skills like time management and critical thinking and other knowledge in
order to set reasonable deadline as per the project complexity. In addition to this, proper analysis
of project and team requirements is being undertaken by me. This effectively helped me to met
the deadline in a well define and effective manner. Furthermore, I have also undertaken use of
establishing project details and objectives and effectively analyse project team requirements. In
addition to this, I have also develop proper communication with effective monitoring and
measuring in order to track performance. This significantly helped in accomplishing overall
project deadlines. In addition to this, it has been evaluated that project life cycle also helped in
achieving aims and objectives of project. It has bee evaluated that the main goal of project is to
enhance employees IT and digital skills in order to make them perform roles and responsibilities
from remote areas. With the help of this goal Premier Inn aim towards managing its roles and
responsibilities during Covid-19.

The main strength of respective project is that, it will enhance employees performance as
well as hotel profitability.
Weaknesses:
The major weaknesses of this project is that, in this hotel is required to invest more
amount of capital which will affect their overall budget.
Threat:
The major threat of respective project is, lack of interest among employees and other
digital challenges.
Opportunities:
This project is having opportunity in terms of increase digital presence of hotel industry
which enhances their opportunity to provide services and facilitates of large number of
customers.

In hospitality industrial sector political factor plays important role, as this industry is
majorly influenced by political environment. Premier Inn is operating from UK, in this political
environment of country have direct and indirect impact upon company. Due to the outbreak of
Covid-19 government imposed lockdown and strict laws which affect smooth roles and
responsibilities of hotel (Jones and Comfort, 2021). In this, it is important for hotel to abide all
essential guidelines and measures in order to ensure smooth business functioning.
Economic:
It has been underlined that economic elements directly influence organisation decision
making. In UK Premier Inn have opportunities to take use of stable economic growth. However,

hotel to face economic loss. In this, with the help of taking use of digital business operations

help of work place learning I have duly acquired number of skills such as communication and

has been learned by me from the pestle and porter's five force analysis it due to the outbreak of
Covid-19 needs and importance of digitisation or digital tools and technologies has been
significant enhanced. In this Premier Inn with the help of enhancing employees IT and digital
skills and align their performance with digital technologies that has been implemented by hotel.
This will help them to effectively satisfy customers needs and demands in a well define and
effective manner.

Thus, from the above mentioned report it has been concluded that there are number of
various ways that are required in order to make significant improvement in skills and knowledge.
In this, work-based learning plays important role. From this report it has been concluded that
with the help of work-based learning learners can undertake opportunity to make significant
improvement in skills and knowledge. Project life cycle also plays important role in
accomplishing project goals in a well define and effective manner. Report also states that smart
objectives also allow learner of students to fulfil all objectives and accomplish assign work in a
well define and effective manner.
