INTRODUCTION
Work based learning is educational strategy tends to provide student real life work experiences to
have application of academics and technical skill for development of the employability skills
(Caldwell and et.al., 2020). This is the series of education courses integrated in the school and
university curriculum with workplaces for creation of the different learning paradigm.
In this report, there will be personal and professional development evaluation of the business
environment of the Tesco company as to pursue the role of marketing manager. This is defining
the management practices which can be helpful in creating the desirable impacts on the
employee performance.
Business Environment Tools
Tesco is the multinational retailer company’s headquartered in England. In term of the
profitability, the company’s is the third largest in terms of revenue and ninth largest retail
supermarket in the world. The company is been founded in the year 1919 along with currently
operating in 12 countries with over 6553 stores (Emblen-Perry, Nichol and Ross, 2020). As per
the role of the marketing manager, company have implication of internal and external business
unpredictable environment. The firm is operating with discussing factor which is affecting the
Tesco performance and operations.
PESTLE analysis
Political factor
The company home country is considered to be stable but due to the Brexit, it has created a lot
of uncertainty. As the company is operating is the different market such as Ireland, Hungary,
Poland, Slovakia, Malaysia, China, Czech Republic. So it can be stated as mostly the business is
capable to respond to the current and futures legislations along with adjusting the business and
marketing policies in perfect manner.
Economic factor
As compares to the global economics, the firm have been severely affected by COVID 19 as it
has been expected as the large number of people will be downs and many will have losing their
jobs. This will be resulted as less level of spending by customer and switching to the cheaper
brads. This will be negative impacts of the operation and profit of company. Likewise, high
labour cost, particularly in the UK and Ireland, costs Tesco millions of pounds every year.
Social factor

The firm taking the recent level of initiative as the receptibility of social changes and demands.
As for example the company is selling both branded and own label halal meat in the Malaysia
and Thailand (Christie and et.al., 2018). On the other hand, the company is selling the branded
products in the UK for Jewish customers. The company is seriously looking for the demand of
the different type of vegan foods in the high European market offering the good opportunities for
the further growth.
Technological factor
Tesco is looking for the technological advancements as creation of the loyalty cards by big
forces behind the success of the company. Tesco have started the self-services checks out points
by providing the customer with appropriate conveniences and help the firm to have reduction in
cost.
Legal factor
Government legislations and policies impacting the company directly as there UK and EU law
have prohibited the anti-competitive activities as the result the company cannot merges with any
supermarkets. The country has the competition to be watch dog by blocking the such level of
moves. The firm have the obligation by not paying any employee less than minimum wages
which have been by the government. The company is taking the legal action the misleading
customer by seeing and fined on theme.
Environmental factor
As many countries have been facing the serious level of global pressures from government
regrading the addressing of the environmental issues which is directly or indirectly being passed
o the big companies. In order to have responding against pressures, Tesco is taking level of
initiative to have reduction carbon emission to zero by 2050 and removing the one billion pieces
of plastic packages by the end of 2020.
SWOT analysis
Strength
The firm is one of the biggest retailers in the UK along with leading market share around
305 of the shares of markets.
The firm have succeeded by providing the wide varsity of the product choice in terms of
the branded level and under the same brand also.
