INTRODUCTION
Work based learning is a strategy that helps to enhance the skills and knowledge with a
real life experience. It helps to learn from the experience and carry on the work effectively. It
is related to providing projects to the employees so that they are able to learn from them. There
is need of focusing on the project as it includes all the important aspects that must be known to
the person (Comunian and England, 2020). It enhances the opportunities to learn effectively
and use the same in future. This also helps the business to grow. This report is based on work
based project in Caffè Concerto. It is a European style restaurant chain that has its headquarters
in London. It was founded in 1996 and was established at Regent street. This report has
evaluation regarding and work based training project. In the starting, there is discussion related
to setting aims and objectives of the project so that the same can be managed effectively. All
the stages of project life cycles are part of this report. The progress of the project is being
monitored so that real success is attained. In the end of this report, proper reflection related to
the project is mentioned.

Work-based project aims to provide experience to the learners. It provides opportunity to
learn effectively and carry on the work in proper manner. There is need of implementing the
project as per the trend in the market. The use of proper research and proper analysis regarding
the learner helps to carry on the project effectively (Antony and Gupta, 2018). There is need of
taking care of all the important aspects and carrying the project as per the aims and objectives.
The use of right methodology is important to carry on the project and achieve it successfully.
The project undertaken is to provide training to the receptionist so that there is better customer
dealing. It will be beneficial for Caffè Concerto as they will be able to attract more customers
and treat the effectively. The receptionist creates the first impression on the customers and a
trained and professional person can help to manage the work effectively (Walker and Lloyd-
Walker, 2018). There is need of providing effective training to the employees so that work can
be managed effectively. There is need of taking proper care of the employees working in the
organisation and providing them effective training so that they are able to enhance their skills
and knowledge in order to deal with the customers in proper manner.

Aim: To provide training to the receptionist in order to enhance the customer base.
Objectives
 To develop the skills of the receptionist.
 To enhance the relationship with customers.
 To teach them latest software
It is important to work on all these objectives as they will help Caffè Concerto to enhance
their sales. By providing the training to the receptionist the skills will be enhances. The
communication skills and time management skills are required to deal with the customers
properly (Matthews, Stanley and Davidson, 2018). It will help to enhance the image of Caffè
Concerto in the mind of customers. Receptionist will be given training to enhance the relation
with customers. Effective relations will retain the customers and will be beneficial for the
success of organisation. Along with that there are various new software in the market that must
be used by receptionist. They enhance the effectiveness in working and are able to attract more
customers.
Managed, monitored and evaluated the progress of the project throughout the project lifecycle
from initiation to completion.
There are certain stages that must be followed by Caffè Concerto in order to carry on the
project. There is need of following all these stages and managing them effectively so that
proper training is being provided. There is need of managing the work in such a manner that all
the stage in project life cycle are completed property (Ekstedt, 2018). There is need of
managing the work in such a manner that the company is able to attain success. There are
regular changes in the environment and by using the right tools and techniques success can be
attained. The various stages in project lifecycle are as follows:
Initiation phase: It is first stage in the lifecycle of the project. In this stage the company
must check the scope of the project. It is a work based project and there is need of carrying the
work by identifying the project scope. All the important work is being done in this step. The
timescale, budget and the objectives of the project are set in this stage. By taking the project of
work based learning they are able to manage the work effectively. It is necessary to provide
training to the receptionist will help to attract more customers. It has huge scope in market and
helps to deal with the customer queries in proper manner. There is need of identifying the risk
can take place so that there is no problem in future. In order to carry on the work effectively it

is important to manage each and every stage in effective manner for overall success and
development of the project.
Planning phase: It is one of the important phase in the life cycle of the project. There is
need of carrying proper plan and then working to achieve success in the same. Caffè Concerto
has planned all the important details related to the project. There is need of managing the work
in such a manner that plan can be achieved (Garnjost and Brown, 2018). There are changing
situations so the project plan can be executed in effective manner by making the same flexible.
It becomes important to use all the skills in such a manner that the objectives are attained
properly. The objectives must be discussed with all the members of the organisation in order to
check the progress.
Executing Phase: This is the step in which training is provided to the receptionist. There
is need of providing effective training to the receptionist of Caffè Concerto. This will help to
enhance the sales of the organisation. All the steps taken must be for the benefit of the Caffè
Concerto (Portney and et.al., 2019). There is need of managing the work in such a manner and
the progress on each day. It will help to monitor the work at the time of executive stage so that
there is no problem in the end. There is need of working in effective manner and checking the
progress.
Monitoring and controlling: There is key role of monitoring and controlling the overall
project. In this stage the actual performance is being compared with the actual performance in
order to know the gaps (Shpak and et.al., 2020). The gaps are filled in order to achieve overall
success of the project. The performance of the receptionist must be checked at each and every
stage so that real time feedback is given. It is seen that there are various key performance
indicators that can be used to deal with the performance of the receptionist. There is need of
checking the skills that are being developed so that real success is achieved.
Closing phase: In this step the project is closed. The overall success is measures and the
benefits of project are measured. This enhances the sales of the company and are able to
manage the work in effective manner (Price, Pepper and Stewart, 2018). It is necessary to carry
on the meeting effectively and discuss all the pros and cons that have occurred at the time of
work. There is need of closing the project in proper manner so that real success can be attained.
By following all the stages in effective manner if they are able to manage the work. This
helps them to attain the targets set by them.

How at project completion you met the deadlines of each

At the time of project completion, meeting deadlines is necessary to accomplish the
aims and objectives. In order to provide trainings to the receptionist, it is required to set an
appropriate time frame in which training takes much time. Due to having dynamic and
complex working environment, any random task and activities may occurs in the organisation
mainly in retail sector (Philip, and Williams, 2019). While working at cafe Concerto, all the
stages are demonstrated in an effective manner for meeting the goals. Achieving deadlines is
necessary to complete project objectives within set time frame. It will be beneficial for saving
cost and resource for further use. An organisation has their primary concerned about using
resources In effective manner to get rid of scares situation. Each stage of project completion
has shown some relevant task and activity which is important to complete within the time
table.
Initiation phase: At this stage of training project, in which all the ideas and plans will be
prepare to make it successful. During this, all the budget and time frames are set for
accomplishment of the training in a well manner. This stage is completed within 2 months in
which all the planning has been done. In providing training to the receptionist, all the budget
has set within this duration before arrival of new staff in Cafe Concerto. All the objectives and
aims are depended upon the plans as it show a path towards success.
Planning phase: This stage of achieving goals and objectives is been done through setting
ideas, aims, objectives and budgets for the Caffe Concerto. Planning stage helps in achieving
the aims and objectives that can easily showcase a path through delivering the project
successfully. For that instance, the plan is to regulate the training session for all the staff to
enhance their skills (Bravenboer, 2018). This will done within 2 months after initial stage and
all the work is done within this duration. The training programmes has been held in which each
day a new skill has discussed. Within 2 months duration, all the training session conducted and
the staff go the potential to communicate with customers, solve their queries and treat them
effectively.
Executing Phase: At this execution stage, when all the plans has developed it shows an
appropriate implementation of task and activities. While conducting project at Caffe Concerto,
the training is executed effectively for the receptionist job role (Mdsen, 2020). This will

emphasize on the behaviour of execution of the plans and objectives on the company. The
training should be last long for 3 months maximum by successfully enhancing all the skills.
This objectives has achieved as all the trainings has completed before 3 months duration with
practical working. These stages will require participation of leading activities and task during
the training programme.
Monitoring and controlling: This stage is also a part of aims and objectives of the
project. There is requirement of regular monitoring and controlling sessions within specific
time frames (Saleh, 2020). It has done specifically for checking on the training outcome on the
staff by observing their attitude and behaviour towards customer.
Closing phase: This stage defines that all the project deliveries comes to an end. The staff
and experts has identified all the pros and cons of the activity and find more areas of
improvements within 15 days.
Reflect upon and evaluate your experience and learning at the
workplace and linked and applied theory
It has evaluated from own experience at the workplace that training programmes plays
an effective role in developing skills and capabilities. In own experience, by guiding to the
staff for the role of receptionist. It has found that some of the skills has required for working in
organisation which are communication, time management and interpersonal. It helps in
maintaining great customer relations, treat them wisely and present own ideas to others. I have
learned that working on a project require much potential to plan the ideas, set budgets and
standards, finalise the resources and execute it in desirable manner. I learned to guide others by
finding out their weak areas, skills and behaviour which require change for working in the
organisation (Romanow, Napier, and Cline, 2020). Also, leadership skills are crucial for me
to achieve me future career goals as well so, I have learned a lo during workplace experience
in Caffe Concerto. This shows how the individual will be able to ascertain that it is being vital
for the development of key strategic issue. Also, I have learned about the behaviour of key
problems which require best guideline and strategies for resolving business problems. For that
instance, I have implemented project management theory and carried each task in an effective
manner. This involve different stages for finding ideas, set budgets and plans for getting a
clear path toward success. From my own experience in Caffe Concerto, I developed time and
project management skills which will help me in com0oleting all the work according to its set

deadlines (Blewitt, Parsons, and Shane, 2018). I have managed to set time tables and work as
per the priority task that will require more concentration.

CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that learning is important for all the people. Work
based learning helps to learn at the time of carrying the work. There is discussion related to
setting best project objectives and aim is in the starting of report. The project life cycle is also
important part of the report. In the next step the progress of the project is checked. In the end
on this report reflection is written.
