There are solutions for cultural and language barriers are mentioned below:
Language
Simple language
It is important to use simple language which is easy to understand by the communicator.
Complicated words must be avoided by the doctors.
Repetition
Speaker must repeat at the end what is said by the speaker, this will make the audience
better understand what is being said by the speaker (Goodley, 2016).
Culture
Employing diversity training
The staff of the hospital must be training which is of diverse culture. This will lead to
closure of the communication gap among the sender of the message and the receiver of the
message of different language.
Appreciation of culture difference
While doing the communication the speaker must promote the different culture by
appreciating the different culture. This will motivate the employees and the employees will feel
they are given special consideration in the organization.
2. (a)Describing three strategies for effective communication.
The three effective communication strategies are;
Focus must be on the issue
The communicator of the message must focus on what is the issue. For example if the
staff is facing any problem then the same must be addressed by following the hierarchy. The
communicator should be only on the topic.
Flexibility
The communicator must be flexible while addressing the issues. For example if in the
staff the nurse is of different culture then and the listener is unable to understand the issue of the
nurse then the person must be polite and flexible towards the solving the issue by telling again
and in a better way the solution of the issue.
Empathy

The employees must be shown empathy in which the employees of the different culture
must share the feelings of with the other employees. This will lead to relation building among the
employees and this will lead to increase in the friendly environment.
(b) How effective is visual imagery when communicating information to ethnic groups ?
Visual imagery is very helpful in communicating with ethnic groups. It helps to minimize
the wastage of time. As compared with written and oral communication, visual images takes less
time to communicate any type of information. Further, visual images will also assists ethnic
groups in taking decisions in fast and effective manner. Further, communicating information to
larger number of people become easier with the help of visual imagery (Govere and Govere,
2016).
For example – Diagram related with scenery that includes mountain, moon etc.
Painting of a shape, motion, pattern or texture etc.
Images of space, angle, proportion etc. all are examples of universal visual images.
3(a) How to improve social and cultural awareness.
There are different ways in which social and cultural awareness can be improved. These
are as follows -
 Celebrating traditional holidays, festivals and food etc.
 Observing and listening to foreign customers and colleagues.
 Paying attention to differences in the culture (Lam and Riba eds., 2016).
(b) Briefly explain how everyone in the workplace is responsible for cultural inclusiveness.
Cultural inclusiveness means to support the needs of people belonging from diverse
cultures and providing importance to their contribution. It includes continuously raising
awareness, whether it is related with compromise or negotiation. It is important to understand the
difference between diversity and inclusiveness. People working in company should know their
responsibilities for cultural inclusiveness. Human Resource Manager of the company should
make efforts to recruit workforce belonging from different cultures. This will help to improve
productivity and profitability of the company. All the people should know their responsibility
whether it is top management, supervisors etc (Slade, Oades and Jarden eds., 2017). Manager
should provide chance to employee’s to hear their views and opinions. Further, employees
should also make efforts to respect each other differences while working with employee’s in a

team. They must respect the opinion and views of each other this will help to improve cultural
inclusiveness in the organization.
(c) Provide at least three Act's that supports culture and diversity at the workplace ?
There are different types of Act's that supports diversity and culture at the workplace.
These are as follows -
Age discrimination in Employment Act, 2004 :
The law prohibits discrimination on the basis of age. The act includes ban against
discrimination on the basis of age and also restricts discrimination in wages, promotions,
termination of employment and benefits. It also protect people from age discrimination in the
provision of goods and services etc (Easley, 2019).
Equal Pay Act, 2010 :
The term equal pay means payment of wages equally to men and women that are
performing similar work. In Australia, the act was introduced in year 1969. It is illegal to
discriminate among male and female on the basis of gender.
Fair Work Act 2009 :
It is an important piece of commonwealth legislation that regulates workplace relations
and employment. It defines terms and conditions of employment and also provide rights and
responsibilities in relation to employment. They also govern employee and employer relationship
in Australia. It provides flexible working arrangements and fairness at work (Carlson, 2019).
4) How does diversity impact employment and economy in Australia.
Employment refers to act of organization that means people are employed against salary
and wages. Diversity affects employment and economy in Australia in different ways.
Diversity refers to employing people that belongs from different backgrounds, culture, religion
etc. The workforce of the organization should be diverse and inclusive. Diversity greatly impacts
employment. It helps to improve the level of creativity at the workplace. People belonging from
different backgrounds are tends to possess different experiences and different perspectives in
relation to the work. Further, due to high level of different types of views and perspectives leads
to high level of creativity while performing job performance. Culture refers to diversity in
beliefs, values, behavior of the people that are shared by members of the society. Diversity in
culture affects the willingness of people to accept information etc. Diversity at the workplace is

very important for employee’s as it provides great opportunities to workers and also brings
various benefits for the company.
It can be said that, diversity in workforce helps to improve the economic growth of
Australia. Further, due to an increase in women in the employment in different countries there is
an increase in gross domestic product of the country. Moreover, diversity in culture provides
various advantages for the economic growth and development. According to various researchers,
employee’s that belongs to different cultures tend to contribute a significant part in economic
development of Australia. This benefit is difficult to evaluate in quantitative terms but, it has
significant economic value. According to Australian government, diversity in workforce also
provide various advantages for the companies such as it helps to improve work productivity, it
also assists firm to increase the level of profits, improves employee engagement, helps to
improve skills and abilities etc. Further, it also provides an insight to culture of people. Diversity
is central to national identity of the country.

their lives which is quite essential. While providing health care services they need to focus on
what are their requirements related to this that make provider able to satisfied them effectively
(Kavanagh and McRae, 2017). Without making differences based on diversity areas, they has to
serve the best in community. Along with this, community service provider, provide equal
opportunities to them regarding job which make them able to feel good and happy. Aboriginal
culture people wants to improve their well being and required a lot of things in their lives that
helps to feel them as essential part of society. In community service provider need to plan to
encourage people to work and get the best facilities at every place.

a) Answering to friend regarding working with different types of people.
Multicultural workforce refers to the difference in employee’s on the basis of ethnicity,
race, age, physical ability etc. To work with people belonging from diverse cultures, I replied
that, there is a need to work collaboratively with other people that belongs to different cultures.
Further, there is a need to understand the needs of different kinds of people so that, they will not

be hurt in any way. I always make efforts to recognize the diversity, make honest efforts to
promote transparency in the communication with workers belonging from different backgrounds.
I always make efforts to help employee’s that are facing any type of issues. Further, I always
help them to make grievances in respect of any problem they are facing. I never use the words
that hurts the employee’s with whom I work. Example – I do not use phrases such as Its your
problem, I don't care what you think etc. Always ensures that, there is mutual understanding
between us. All the employee’s works as a team to achieve the aim and objectives of the
organization. Moreover, I always ensure that there is a good environment for working in the
firm. Further, I help them whenever they find any type of difficulties.
b) If you were unsure regarding needs of the person, how to find out information regarding the
culture ?
In case I am not sure regarding the cultural requirements of a person, I would maintain
the record of information regarding that particular individual. The information will include such
as name of the person, date of birth, past medical history, medications, information related with
the culture etc. This information will help me to determine the cultural needs of particular
person. Further, the looks and physical appearance of the individual will also support me to
identify culture requirements of the person. The way of talking will also assist me to collect
information regarding the culture of person. Moreover, looks and clothing appearance of the
individual will help me determine cultural needs of the person.

What effect do you think Claude's separation from Ray is having on emotional well-being?
The separation from Ray will impact Claude's emotional well-being in different ways.
Claude may lead to anxiety and there may arise problems such as sleep disturbances. Further, it
will affect the behavior of Claude while talking with other peoples. Further, they may feel lack of
energy due to separation from Ray.
1) Effect on Ray 's sister on Claude's emotional and psychological well-being ?
The effect on Ray's sister is having on Claude's emotional and psychological well-being
is that the sister of Claude does not like homosexual relationship of Claude and Ray. Further,
Ray's sister daggers at them whenever they hold hands. The reaction of Ray's sister may create a
negative impact on emotional and psychological well-being as they are not allowed to hold

hands. This may negatively impact the self-esteem, motivation level. Further, due to the attitude
of Ray's sister, Claude may feel emotionally depressed due to the separation from Ray.
2) Strategies that can be put into place to enable Ray to visit New Greens Aged Care facility.
There are various ways that can be adopted by Ray to meet Claude. These are as follows -
 Claude may book a ticket of bus or car to visit the age care facility as Ray is unable to
drive vehicle.
 Ray can meet Claude by visiting the age care facility with any other person such as friend
or any other family member that has no objection on the homosexual relationship
between Claude and Ray.
 Both Ray and Claude can meet at any other place like in a garden, mall etc. where they
can spent quality time together. This will also not affect psychological and emotional
well-being of Claude.
If, nothing is done to bring Ray and Claude together how this will affect the health of
Claude over a period of time.
In case no efforts are made to bring Claude and Ray together this will negatively impact the
health of Claude over a specific period of time. There are some possible effects such as -
 It will negatively impact the mood of Claude. It includes the feeling of emptiness,
sadness etc.
 Further, Claude will loss the pleasure in the activities that Claude enjoy before facing
these type of restrictions.
 It will have physical agitation and creates feeling of sluggishness.
 Moreover, Claude may also have intrusive thoughts of suicide and death (Arora-Jonsson,
2017).

There are various types of research community support organizations in Australia whom
Claude and Ray can contact. Such as -

Australia is one of the diverse and unique country in every aspect whether it is climate,
culture, population, geography or history. The culture of Australia is broad and varied as the
landscape of the country. It is also reflected from the food, cultural practices, lifestyle and
experience of the people. The diversity in cultural, food influences the cultural environment of
the country that is energized, innovative and outward looking. It is one of the major strength of
Australia. It is second most multinational country in the world. Further, it is different from other
countries due to topography, geography, weather and location. The meaning of multi culture is
more than simple immigration from other countries. Further, diversity is also reflected in the
ethnic, culture of the country.
