Cultural diversity is quality of the diverse cultures as opposed to the mono culture and

attitude has impacted the different people I work
with in a significant manner. This is because they
belong to different ethnic and social backgrounds.

There are various social practices that I practice as a
result of my cultural upbringing (Singh, 2017). For
example, on every special event, small gifts are
exchanged with the family members and friends. But
this has changed from when my parent were young.
And now, rather than exchanging gifts on all small
occasions, we only exchange them on account of
very special event. This is because such practices
have changed over time as the people have become
more learned. Apart from this, Schoolies is a week
long holiday that students go for after their school
year has finished and other formal celebrations have
ended. This is a tradition since the 1970s and has not
changed till now (11 Traditions Only Australians

symbol of fun and freedom.

The Australian society is made up of various diverse
communities. The include Aboriginal, Torres Strait
Islander etc. For example, the tax policy or change s
in the education policy can impact the different

This is because although the overall policy would
remain the same, some parts of it will be applied
differently to all the communities which can lead to
an influence on them.

I have my own cultural beliefs and values that affect
my personal behaviour and interpersonal
relationships with other people. I am a person who
respects various cultures and curious to learn new
things about the same (Taylor and et. al., 2019). As a
result of this, I know many people who belong to
different cultures. And I have been able to maintain
a positive and long-term relationship with them over
the years.

Although I get along with people who belong to
different backgrounds very well, I have some
limitations when it comes to working with clients
and colleagues from different backgrounds (Tyler
and et. al., 2019). I take some time in order to mix
up with other people. Because of this, they end up
feeling that I might not be interesting in talking to

them. I need to work on this and have to address this
in the future. I can do this by taking an initiative to
start a conversation with the other person and learn
about them.

Appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication when communicating with the resident
On meeting the resident for the first time, I will welcome him/her with a warm greeting.
I will offer some tea and refreshments so that the resident does not feel uncomfortable. I will
then ask him/her to introduce themselves and then introduce them to with the environment at the
aged care facility. I will make sure that I speak softly and smoothly so that the resident is able to
understand what I am saying. I will do this with the help of a map of the whole facility so that
they get an idea of different services that he/she would receive at the facility. Not only this, it
will also allow to build a positive rapport of the aged care facility. In order to provide them the
feel of a family, I will introduce him/her to the other residents.
My role in providing support to the resident will include assisting him/her with daily
living activities and ensuring that they are comfortable in facility. I will also provide support to
him/her with the medications and daily meals. People who live in aged care facilities require help
in their daily activities from time to time (van Doren and et. al.,2020). Apart from this, it will be
my responsibility to keep a check on their overall health and in case of any uncertain situation
refer the in-house doctor. One of my major responsibilities will be to assist the resident with their
personal care as they might it difficult. Since the resident is from a non-English background, I
will help him/her in learning the language and also with any mobility assistance that they might
need. This would help him/her feel comfortable and happy. So, I will make sure that the new
resident does not feel left out and is satisfied with the services that he/she receives.

Preparation
I will prepare myself for completing my task effectively. I will use proper gestures in order to
demonstrate my decision. I will learn few common words of German so that it will be easy to
communicate with them.

There are some strategies for improving the communication and this includes following points -
Get to know people better – As a nurse, it is my duty to provide good services to all people. The
first thing which I have to do is enhance my ability for knowing people in a better manner. I will
develop rapport and engagement and will identify the challenging behaviours.
Time and patience - I will invest my time for becoming more presentable while providing
service to patients.
Be present - I will emotionally support all people while providing them medication and other

polite manner. He should explain her that the time decided for meeting is not suitable as it's his
prayer time. Within a workplace, all religions are given equal value and hence, Ahmed must also
be supported for conducting prayer and then join meeting.

I will ask her to calm down and think again for not taking Ahmed in meeting. She should
understand that religion comes first before anything in this world. It is very important to
understand all colleagues for having positive work culture. Alexandra behaved in a bad manner
with Ahmed which is not digestible.

I will talk to my seniors about this and tell them that this is a big problem and it must be ensured

members. Alexandra and Ahmed both are short tempered and thus it is important that they must

Each and every religion must be given respect within an organisation. It is the duty of all
managers and seniors that they are promoting equality in diversified workplace. This enhances
positive workplace culture and promotes effective functioning of business activities. According
to me, in the given scenario Mr Freemantkle must attend the celebration of Christians in order to
promote that all religions are equal.
CONCLUSION
In the above discussion, it is concluded that workplace diversity is common within
organisations and different religions must be treated equally. There must be promotional events
adopted by companies to enhance growth of company. There is also requirement of effective
functioning by increasing customer satisfaction. It is very essential for managers to develop
effective strategies.
